Be sure to check out the deals, a reminder not to purchase a game unless it is a daily deal, or if its the last day of the sale. Games can be further marked down due to the daily deal.
Day 1 deals:
Indie Bundle I 75% $9.99
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 50% $29.99
Crusader Kings II 75% $9.99
Legend Of Grimrock 60% $5.99
Might & Magic Heroes VI 50% $24.99
Portal 2 75% $4.99
Ridge Racer Unbounded 50% $24.99
Terraria 75% $2.49
Total War Shogun 2 75% $7.49
You guys should check out Crusader Kings 2, there's a really awesome Game of Thrones mod for it (http://i.imgur.com/PtqwO.jpghttp://citadel.prophpbb.com/topic872.html) Although be warned, the learning curve of this game is significantly higher than any other game (Consider yourself warned). You will need to watch videos to figure it out, but once you learn how to play, it is quite fun ^_^.
Also, if you have managed to somehow live your life to this point without Portal 2... Just buy it for gods sake.
There are quite a lot of games that are marked down for the entire event, there's also a Daily vote thing as well (Saints Row 3 falls under this). Don't buy non daily deals (like DayZ) as it might go from -20% to -50% on a daily deal or something. If it gets to the last day of the sale and it doesn't, purchase it then.
with Terraria only $2.50 currently, if you havn't got it, in my opinion that's a must get, considering how much hours can be put into it. (Effectively 2D Minecraft but with more 'gamey' and RPG elemants is best way i can describe it honestly.)

Some of the main things:
- If you want a game that is 20-50% off wait until the last fay to buy it. It may just go on the daily sales for up to 88% off.
- The wishlist or a notepad for games you are keeping an eye on are a must.
- Pack deals are not likely to drop in price.
- A good rule for the packs is if you want 3/4 of the games then buy it. If you only really want 1-2 then wait till the last day (for same reason as the first point).
- Flash sales change every couple of hours (less than 8 it seems). 50% off flash deals are a bit of a gamble - they could go on the daily sales later. 66% to 88% off are good deals, getem.
- make sure to vote for each community choice sale! (you get a badge for it) You can choose which game gets 66% - 75% off!
- Grab the iPhone app to keep an eye on the flash deals while you are out.

Trine 2 is pretty good, played it with Dox a couple of months ago.
Portal 1 and 2 are awesome. Only Portal 2 has co-op though. But the single player stories alone are worth it.
Limbo is creepy dark but you get over it pretty quick as it soon becomes more of a puzzler than a platformer.
I've been meaning to get Deus Ex for a while but keep forgetting about it. It's cheap even without a deal so I'll hopefully get it soon and download that graphics patch before playing it so it's not so painful to the eyes.
Not sold on Bioshock. Watched Dox play it a bit but I'm still not sure it's a game for me.
Also, anyone who hasn't played Bastion yet needs to do so. It's amazing.
Rayman Origins is only for the hardcore gamer who has mad reflexes. Dox is a GOD for doing the last couple of levels for me and helping me get the Platinum trophy (got the PS3 version).
Only Steam recommedations I can make for now as I'm not a big PC player.
Didn't see this in the thread anywhere but i feel it should be mentioned that all of the daily days have a 12 hour rollover, so if you miss them on sale by a couple hours, you can still get them dirt cheap, within 12 hours of that daily sale ending.
40-ish minutes left on Bastion Community's Choice deal, I strongly urge anyone who hasn't gotten/played this game to do so, simply one of the best games ever for me.

Hmm, wondering if I should buy any of the Fallout games. I'm currently sort of enjoying Deus Ex, so would I enjoy Fallout? How long is a typical Fallout game?
EDIT
Just bought Trine 2 and PixelJunk Eden =D

Watch a few game reviews on it, so you understand the mechanics.
Also, if you think V.A.T.S is as bad as I thought it was, you're gonna have a bad time.
not sure about NV but fallout 3 has no problems on my windows 7 machine
man i'm always curious what games are on sale that i don't get to even see cause of region blocking
Today's indie bundle is really good. I just played Valley Without Wind for about 3 hours it's really intriguing. The other four games are pretty well rated/reviewed too.

Finally got around to playing some of the games I bought.
PixelJunk Eden is well...interesting. I'm really just interested in the graphics and music of it, the gameplay itself isn't really too deep or anything, but its nice.
L.A. Noire seems like a nice game from what I played so far, cept there are a few things I don't like but they're minor.
