I still dont get where ninja comes into the story. How did we get from numbers to ninja? BTW 35.41, 101.46 is the middle of bumf*&% China. Someone System shoudl totally host a LAN there.

Something to do with WCG then since that is where the next 2 Global finals will be held?

So here is what I understand from this thread:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Despite the fact this thread has nothing to do with iM, Ninja has been Accepted into iM.
System and Zain to be official casters with iaguz's chinese dota team.
System had sushi for lunch.

Nirvana has a statue that likes coffee
sc2sea cafe that serves sushi, everything served with an incredibly obnoxiously racist indian accent
C'mon, really? Those last two clues are obvious as ****.
Prometheus + Cup of Coffee = Pro Cup
EDIT: It's also hilarious how many unintended MiLes references there are on the page where that coffee cup originated, haha!.
EDIT2: As another funny unintended co-incidence there's a giant capslock ALTERNATES (read: aLt) in the bird URL.
you're running a tournament to discover who the biggest douche bag in SC2SEA?
EDIT: Legit guess work
[2:34:02 PM] Chris Grima: well being Kyle
[2:34:08 PM] Chris Grima: he hosts shows
[2:34:27 PM | Edited 2:34:41 PM] Chris Grima: where public vote on the contestants
[2:35:33 PM] Chris Grima: That song is used in Air Asia commericals
[2:35:43 PM] Chris Grima: so an event sponsored by Air Asia
[2:35:50 PM] Chris Grima: fits the other clues as well
[2:38:17 PM] Chris Grima: Air Asia have sponsored esports and starcraft stuff in the past
[2:38:50 PM] Chris Grima: holy ****

so, australian idol, some kiwis, china, japan, pro cup and asia airlines, far east movement?
Asian pro cup anyone (evidently including at least Aus/NZ in it, not sure about the rest of sea)?
Surprised I haven't picked up on anything obviously taiwanese yet. They seem to be heavily involved in pushing the Asian scene.
Okay more or less posted all the clues. It should be fairly easy now!
If nobody can solve it yet, System will announce it on stream after GESC ends tomorrow.
Its BIG so some players have inadvertently found out about it through their connections, so thanks to them for keeping quiet and not ruining the suspense for everyone!
You added malaysia and vietnam behind me, you sneaky bastard...
I haven't traced the origins of the soccer and island pictures, so maybe one of those is a taiwan reference i haven't checked yet. But sounds very much like the asian WCS finals we're hyping (interpreting the baseball pic as world series).
ok just released this thread wasn't something to do with IM so started to pay attention. So flights for people from all those countries to a pro cup in india?! well i maybe random guessing but thats my guess ftm
I felt this event was big enough to warrant a mystery/puzzle sort of thread. It is indeed big! However i'm new to this so apologies if it didn't go that great, I thought people would enjoy solving the mystery and as a beginner had to ask for volunteers in the chatbox to help me create it. System was kind enough to step in and being from immunity people thought it was something immunity related but it wasn't. He lost motivation halfway so i ended up just winging it with googled images. Anyway on the explanation of the clues!
Here is a starting point to aid you on your journey:
(A,B)↑ (C,D)→
Clue #1 System's first clue was actually the biggest. The co-ordinates on google for Japan and the journey reference. yongming got it but people just didn't think anything involving japan was possible and the trail stopped! So thats where it all happens. Toyko Japan. Yes airplane tickets / accommodation are included for the winners
The rest of the pictures all reference to something. They make no sense on their own but when looking at the big picture they all make sense and follow a theme, which people had started to put together towards the end of the thread. I tried to make some stuff vague so it didn't get solved too fast.
Clue #2 Very vague silhouette of the Taj Mahal - India as miles / UHF found. It could be anything from the picture but the file name tells the story. is introduced
Clue #3 Prometheus statue and the movie just came out! Director of Alien. Prometheus is also a show about aliens. chad came closet. Alienware happens to be the major sponsor of the tournament.
Clue #4 Cup of coffee - Dox was the first to get it - Yes its a cup / tournament!
Clue #5 Singapore + Indonesia players in a soccer match. Competition reference and the countries who will share a qualifier. + are introduced
Clue #6 - Most famous taiwanese baseball player, who used to play for the new york yankess. I guess no one here is from taiwan so no one recognized him, hes a celebrity over there. Erasmus came closest here. Another competition reference. is introduced
Clue #7 - One of the hardest clues as it could be a random shot of an island anywhere. Takes a very well traveled person to realize its Boracay, Philippines. Travel reference. is introduced
Clue #8 - An easy one, Australian idol judge to try and get the thread back on track as clues were too vague, with also the reference of competition. is introduced
Clue #9 - Far East Movement. More alluding to flights the chorus has "flllllyyyyyyyyyyyy" so it wasn't just going to be an online cup thing. I think it was really cool how in the first second of the video the girl says she has to take this job in Tokyo... where the tournament happens to be. Was hoping someone would pick up on that! The band is suitably called far east movement, i actually like this song too and this was my favourite clue.
Clue #10 - My favourite NZ show. The actors from Flight of the conchords. Another reference to flight in the title. is introduced
Clue #11 - Pho noodles, a traditional Vietnamese dish. Just an easy clue. is introduced
Clue #12 - Muay Thai fighter, a traditional Thai sport. Another easy clue! is introduced
Clue #13 - The spaceship from Firefly. Firefly is also a budget Malaysian airlines similar to jet star. Had to put in a Malaysian reference in there without it being too obvious since everyone was starting to put things together is the last country to be introduced.
Clue #14 - Astro boy. He normally has rockets for legs so had to find a less obvious picture. Just another japan / flight reference to help people piece it together.
In the end many people came close and solved some clues but gave up on the trail and overall Stally came closest to putting it all together.
Sort of like a mini-wcg for the SEA region, the Asia e-Sports Cup will unite the best gamers in SEA at the Tokyo Game Show 2012, sponsored by Alienware.
Includes Starcraft / CS
7 winners of their qualifiers will receive an all expense paid trips to japan (air ticket* + accommodation)
7 different qualifiers including all the countries mentioned above, held online, run by SC2SEA with the help of the various head admins of the respective countries. People like Zendex/Navi ( / ), Jump (), frogmite (), etc come to mind, though I would need to confirm it with them.
Finals has a prize pool of $5k USD
Australia and New Zealand were not part of this tournament as they wanted it to be just SEA but i fought for them to be included.
As a result there were not enough slots and some countries had to have joint qualifiers i.e Singapore/Indonesia, Thailand/Malaysia made sense cause of their proximity and New Zealand/Philippines were the last 2 nations.
Also had to keep in mind the organizers wished to have live physical events in India / Vietnam / Thailand / Singapore to tie up with other gaming events and hence they needed their own qualifiers / nearby nations.
The qualifiers are open to anyone who lives or is a citizen of the respective countries. If I had it my way transient citizens like Strafe / TargA would be allowed to play in this. I have to double check with what the organizer wants though before I confirm it.
Seeded Taiwan and Australia as the top 2 nations so they have 1 qualifier each to themselves.
*Air ticket is up to $1,000. As mentioned above, Australia/NZ was originally not in the tournament organiser's plan and they had budgeted it accordingly up to $1,000 for the other nations.
Lastly, thanks to the Flash boys who found out about it but kept the news confidential.
Registration details will be out soon over the next few days as a proper news post, along with the qualifier dates, which of course I will double check to ensure nothing clashes, as well of the availability of the top players from those nations on those dates.
wow i got closest wasn't too far off just missed the in japan bit :P this is awesome ^_^ nz cup #3 sounds like get ready jaz/another/kowi shit about to get real
