A magic thing happened once, i started to scout properly and i believe it got me out of bz. Now i want anything you know of what will help me limit the possibilities of what i see at start of game with dscout/ovie, as i play zerg i pretty much can work out whats going on but the other two i kind of know basic things like gas scouting. are there any resources around (besides the TGM)which do this in a quick method? Im sure i clicked on a flow chart on this site once for all the races

thank you, got a new pc and lost this! Waw its even been updated sinc the one i had
So next question. Bench marking!
Are there any drills/builds i can practice? I do the 12 min maxout quite a bit but are there any others i can go for, like a 2/2 timing attack by XXXsecs? or something which can be done on ladder. Recently ive taken a step back from just massing games and trying to have a bit more awareness of whats going on and concentrating on macro/creep spread/no sup blocks . .ever
is there anything else i could have a look at to help my practice sort of thing?

Statix, I wrote several build orders into the book already. Check the back sections.
But as far as online resources, I'd divide it by match-up. Definitely the best-written guide for ZvZ is here: raa-media.nl/blog/starcraft2/zvz-alpha-omega but it doesn't exactly have a step by step build order for you to follow -- yet playing that way will only get you so far. ZvZ build orders = all-ins or cheeses.
ZvT has a lot more options. I'm in the middle of writing an article atm talking about roach vs baneling busts vs greedy Terran, but there are two things I'd recommend in the meantime:
Finally is ZvP. You say you already do the 12 minute max-out, but if you were doing that every time and correctly, you wouldn't be silver. The thing about the 12 minute max-out is... only about 1/10 games is that appropriate. Even Stephano favors divergent paths in most scenarios, due to the current meta-game. You see, everyone was doing the 12 minute max for sooooo long, that Protoss started doing a 2 base immortal timing push that flat out kills it every time. So Z had to start scouting for that, and develop a reaction to it. Now it's the Protoss turn to develop a reaction to that reaction (and they are, in the form of early 3 base play) but very few have done so so far. But to help in aiding understanding of what the hell I just said, read this (:P)
Just get used to your mental checklist and ur head positioning so ur constantly checking top right for supply, bottom left for minimap. Ironically u said u dont wanna mass game but thats really how the routine gets imbedded into you.
Just concentrate on never missing injects, always keeping ur queens energy low, playing faster, and cycling through your hotkeys quicker, spreading creep faster etc. This is the same boring shit everyone always says but its so ******* important it needs to be said again and again. Specific builds arent really going to help you improve this per say, but if you have a goal to get x amount of creep over x spot on the map by x time or have x amount of drones/energy on queens after a certain amount of minutes those are just as good.
At the moment you'll have to concentrate on macroing perfectly and because of it you'll probs lose quite a few games because ur scouting will lack or you'll miss something or you wont think of something retarded he might be doing because ur focusing so hard on spreading creep, checking supply, checking minimap, cycling hotkeys for queens etc, but eventually you'll do this without thinking and thats when strategy comes into it. Also search sc2sea for a thread about a custom game which is designed to improve your multi tasking and macro cant exactly remember what its called.
gl hf!
pick one build order / style per matchup and have an idea of how you want to win (example: broodlord infestor with 3,3 upgraded lings)
Do only that build / style regardless and not only will you get better at doing it - refining it - you will learn much easier what to look for when scouting. You will learn what kills your build and how to notice it is coming
I'm going to hijack this thread and ask this simple question; do I want to be constantly scouting in every match up? and how?.
Every game for me is basically reaching 200/200 and attacking while checking if they have a third or not, I was on 5 base v 2 base against a Terran who went for 3/3 Thors and I didn't scout him, I played my standard ling infestor ultra and attacked him, only to die pretty much instantly, if I'd have gotten banelings roaches and broodlords I would've won that game 10 minutes earlier. How do I learn to judge those things?
Also Protoss cannons are annoying, lawl.
