The Fusion Slugs are holding their first ever internal tournament and we are planning to stream and cast as many of the games as possible to give something back to this great community which has welcomed us some warmly!

Fusion Slugs? Who are you?
We started as BSG only clan entering the SEACL #2 in Tier 5 and have grown to a current roster of 18 players from to . Our biggest achievement to date has been having FSDele win the most improved player award in SEACL 2 Tier 5, semi finalists in the PlayWell Cup and having FSBenAD recently win the GPD.

We are looking for more members to strengthen our sides for the next SEACL, especially those who are platinum or diamond.

The Format
The format is a little complicated (to ensure games for all and get around personal commitements). There are 4 groups of 3 players, which determines seeding for the bracket stage. The players in Group A and B are split into one 6 player double elimination, and the players in Group C and D are split into another 6 player double elimination. This leaves us with 2 from each side, which forms our semi finals and finals!

All games are best of 3, except the semi and finals (best of 5)

Tuesday 5th June : Group A and Group B matches (Bracket Play)

And a quick writeup of our players from Group A and B

Group A features FShayrOb, our top zerg player and one of the newer members of the slugs. This will be FShayrOb's first clan outing. His opponents are both silver terrans. FSsyllian also has yet to play for the slugs and is top of silver, looking at gold soon. FSNeiloGD is one of the founding slug members. Originally from the UK, he now lives in Australia and loves the 1/1/1.

Group B has one of our streamers, FSBonik. He was one of our ace players during the SEACL #2 and he will be looking for a strong performance. He has two protoss people in his group, FSJhedjuka who was unfortunate during SEACL #2 to miss most games due to changing work hours and injury. The other protoss is Quackpork, who is a newer member but already has appeared for the Slugs before.

So after day 1 of action, we managed to finish the group stage for Group A and B!

Hayrob was able beat both Neilogd and Syllian 2-0. A crazy TvT decided 2nd spot, full of base races and lots of action, with Syllian winning 2-1!

In Group B, Jhedjuka pulled an upset, beating Bonik 2-1. Bonik then won a tense serries vs Quackpork 2-1, leaving everything on the line in the final game. Quackpork took game 1 with Jhedjuka leveling the series at 1-1. A 2-1 win for quackpork would leave us with a 3 way tie, but Jhedjuka took out game 3 to top the group.

This setup the brackets as follows in the 6 man double elimination

Neilogd vs Bonik -> Winner vs Hayrob
Syllian v Quackpork -> Winner vs Jhedjuka

Group C features three founding members, captain FSBenAD who is a platinum protoss and won GPD 49 at the start of May. Im probably favoured for the group, however my two opponents know my play style in and out as they are two people ive practice with for a long time now.

First up is FSZomgrofl who is a gold zerg. Zomgrofl started with us as Bronze at the start of SEACL#2 and is now gold. His weakness in the past has been ZvP but he has been practicing on it soley lately to take down FSBenAD and he sounds confident! The final player of the group is vice captain and Tier 5 most improved player FSDele. He is a silver terran but showed in SEACL and many clan wars that he can take down higher league players.

Group D is an interesting group with two of the slugs recent recruits and one of the founding members who has almost been inactive lately. First we have our tournament favourite and highest ranked member of the slugs Captain. A diamond league terran, Captain has also qualified for the masters cup this sunday.

But this group isn't a cakewalk with protoss player FSVulcaN also in it. Vulcan has already gone from Silver to Platinum with the slugs and he has only been with us just over a month! He has a big chance in this tournament to go all the way and his first big test is in the group stage! The final player is Iroh, who is a silver league protoss. Iroh hasn't been active lately, but his claim to fame in the slugs was hitting Diamond on NA (by somehow getting all low level players in placement matches and then beating a platinum in his placements). He hasn't laddered on NA since!

Should be some excellent games tonight, so come by and watch

Day 2 is over, with the Group play for C and D completed!

In group C BenAD was able to beat Zomgrofl and Dele with 2-0 scorelines. A crazy series between Dele and Zomgrofl followed, with Dele doing one of his famous comebacks to win 2-1!

In group D Iroh lost in straight sets and decided to forfeit from the tournament. This meant the win came down to a great series between Captain and Vulcan. A 1-1-1 gave Captain the first game, before Vulcan came back with a 2 base immortal push. The final game saw captain start with a 2 rax but was held by Vulcan. A collossi push followed, but Captain had superior numbers to win the battle and push back to win the series!

The action continues next Tuesday, with a 6 player double elimination for Group A and B, to find out winners bracket and losers bracket champions, who will qualify for the semi finals!
