In today's ZvT meta-game, most Zerg are content with their fast hatchery opening. Generally speaking, after this, there are two approaches: 2 base with a macro-hatch, made famous by personalities like Stephano, or more eclectic styles like Nerchio's roach ling infestor composition, which employs roaches to get a third up earlier, instead of a macro hatchery.
Essentially, the Zerg meta-game in this match-up is defensive, and revolves around Hellions, working under the assumption that due to supply depot walls, bunkers, and OP marines, Zerg is not in a position to apply pressure early on. Not only that, but the assumption is, it's not beneficial to apply pressure early on -- afterall, those units are drones not made.
On this episode of Meta-Game Magic, vGAlkresh will be joining your host to discuss why this assumption is flawed, and explain how Zerg can apply pressure to the Terran based solely on his opener (rather than, say, a counter-attack that is dependant upon the Terran moving out), and why it is beneficial.
Your host, vVvShaft, forever flying in the face of the meta-game and unafraid to look at all perspectives, is a noted caster for GameReplays.org, as well as vVv Gaming. He is also a caster for LegitGaming, FraggedNation.com, and the host of several other shows. vGAlkresh is a top 25 Masters player and representative of team vG known for his stylistic aggression and odd interpretations of the game.
Umm, vG is one of the premier NA teams, as well as vVv. Alkresh is part of Vector Gaming's a-team. His TLPD entry is available (http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/sc2-i...ay-all-leagues). He was also interviewed by one of EG's casters after taking second in a DCLan event (
). He has a lot of other achievements under his belt, but this hardly seems the place. Personally, I'm a educational caster and coach. While NA is a far cry from SEA as far as logistics, we're both playing the same game. I study players from all realms in order to approach the meta-game from all sides.
If you're not aware of what's going on in the Starcraft scene, that's one thing, but showing your ignorance in such a distasteful way.... please be nice Regardless, we're not discussing anything. I'm bringing on some of the best EU/NA players to test him out after a game (or replay) to discuss/explain/defend his style and reasoning, so we'll let the gameplay do all of the talking.
However, ad hominem attacks aside, looking at the nuts and bolts of the topic itself -- ZvT aggression -- I can cite several Korean players, even specific tournaments and matches, where Zerg players have used techniques like a mass ling style to overwhelm 1 rax hellion openers and the like. So again, please discuss the topic, not the people casting. I'd hate to turn this thread into a list of Shaft's achievements just to make my epenis feel more secure. And nobody wants to read that.

Ive never heard of vG and the only reason I know of vVv is because they were renowned for cheating and bad manners in wc3. Also I am probably one of the least ignorant players on this forum. You are ignorant for saying Im ignorant, oh and top 25 masters is basically like a top 57 diamond player on SEA.

Wait, YOU'RE calling someone else for bad manners?! Cheating, yea sure but BM-ING!?
yes yes this is how you advertise your new show on a community forum you are not apart of! take note ladies!
step 1. make an account!
step 2. use the word eclectic
step 3. let everyone know you mean serious business by mentioning top zerg players styles
step 4. call the town troll an ignoramus!
step 5. you dont profit???
step 6. you're done son! on ya bike!

Nice troll. Actually, I joined this site to say "thanks" originally for someone posting a review of some of my content. I then proceeded not to post for six months, then came back because I realized the people were really friendly here.
Sounds interesting. I'm sure players below Masters could get a lot of useful tips. And its possible Masters and above could always pick up an idea too. Good luck.
Hopefully some SEA players could feature in the future.
Shaft, we get a lot of spam by one hit wonders just registering an account to advertise their stuff and never posting again. So theres kinda this homegrown anti-spam protection force that has been built up, where spammers get shot down humorously by everyone (to various degrees) before the mods inevitably close the thread. You unfortunately looked to fit that mold as you had a low post count and none of the initial posters could remember your old posts. So we aren't actually mean to outsiders at all, its just that you got viewed as a spammer and I hope you still view us as a friendly community, I would like to think we are.
As for your show, i agree exactly with what Eddie said. I'm sure players below Masters could get a lot of useful tips from this, given that only 0.02% of players are GM. It takes lots of effort and time to do and it helps players improve so it certainty doesn't deserve this amount of negativity.
All the best for your show, and I hope you do post more on this site. That would help the next time you have something of yours to share, so it doesn't look you're just advertising your stuff because you contribute on our site elsewhere, play a part in our community and people are familiar with you.
Haha, I find most of the trolling hilarious. It's all in good humor.
I'd love to feature an SEA player. Unfortunately, I only have an NA account, and playing cross-realm is quite difficult. This means more than likely a replay-based episode, rather than my general format. I also am not familiar with very many SEA players, regretfully -- another reason I lurk here
Kelly is about the only SEA personality I was aware of for quite some time, but through her I found a couple of others. Still on the search for players that fit what I look for in either Meta-Game Magic or Zergling Round-Up. If anyone has suggestions, though, or even contact information, I'm always open to networking
Thanks Nirvana. I've honestly been a bit hesitant to post -- not to mention I'm the type of person who, when he has nothing to say, feels like he brought a snickers to a potluck, and thereby says nothing, so my posts are naturally few and far between -- as I wasn't sure a random guy from NA would be welcome. I actually have some history with Singaporean, Malaysian, Aussie and Kiwi gaming groups, but that's a legacy from Warcraft 3.

Just FYI - at least 25% of the NA Grandmaster League consistently features SEA players. A good portion of them are in the top 50. Those who don't play on NA are killing GSL stars on the Korean server.
This is sounding better and better. Does anyone have any suggestions on whom I should contact? I'm really leaning towards PiG at the moment, but why on Earth should I stop with just one SEA player?
Updated with affiliations in response to chad's comment
Looks like 2 aLt 2 TA and 1 hybrid to me! I don't get it lol same thing happened with the sc2sea Awards, when PiG won one and TA won like half of them a select few kept going on about how it was aLt biased.
I basically just looked at the tgm coach page as most of those guys have tons of coaching hours under their belt hence the experience with articulating their thoughts / strategy to mid range - lower level players and i thought they were suitable for the show.

I like how your list consists of 4 players that are barely top 30 in SEA.
Oh and completly off topic: Ive noticed lately that I have had a pretty consistant crowd that dislikes my post ( you know who you ***** are) and I have also noticed the difference in skill level and intelligence between the people that dislikes and likes my posts, and from that I wish to you that dislikes my post, get smarter.
kind regards Kristoffer "TargA" Marthinsen
and a ******* happy Norwegian constitutional day to you *****

I think it's more the fact your coming across as an elitist prick.
Why do you feel the need to put down other players all the time? Insecurities? If anything, all you pros should be "working together" to get SEA on the map. I think you should get "smarter" instead of being an immature little brat and posting ignorant crap.
If you don't have anything good to say about anyone don't say it at all.
However, if you feel you have to continue putting other players down..... On ya bike, go back to Norway. SEA is better off without you.
kind regards "Bloodmyst"
P.S - I'm sorry if I offended you GrandMaster Targa.......
I don't think that talking to Targa like he talks to others are going to solve anything.

Means : "You don't like what I say = You're less intelligent and have lesser skill than guys liking my posts."
Do you realise what you are saying, Targa, and how childish it looks ?
First, you can't judge people intelligence that easily without knowing them better. You only see glimpses of it. Secondly, are you that good at judging people to say such things about them ? In fact, what you are doing now is judging them on their SC2 skill and the fact that they find your post "cool" or smart or not. You couldn't be more wrong in doing that.
That's on the form. Now on the main subject. Being a bit harsh with people who comes here just to advertise their sites or product or team and especially not related to SEA is OK, but don't be contemptuous like that. Sometimes things might be different that they seem at first sight. And for example here, it could end up with good opportunity for SEA players or sc2sea.
Now more generally about "some" people disliking your posts lately : As I said to you a few months ago, you should lower the trolling and increase the help. Sc2sea is a popular community because many top players are keen to discuss with / help other guys of lower skill. They're not in here just to say "come and admire me".
You want to become pro ? You might think that being a bad boy is better when you see Idra. It's not. Idra whas that popular because he was the best American guy out there, not because he was a bad boy. Destiny, Catz, or other were from the team Root which was very popular. They also have excellent streams, streaming a ton and being quite entertaining. I think Destiny was one of the first commenting on his stream and definitly has the better graphic quality out there (he is also an excellent and very respectful teacher for his student, his coaching sessions were really excellent).
You must understand that e-sports lives thanks to the public. Casual players who accept to pay or watch commercials to watch progamers play and to interact with them. If you're not able to gain public support, you're going nowhere. And being contemptuous, never helping people, trashing your progamers colleagues might be seen cool by certain, it won't please the public.
You had the support of sc2sea people, you're wasting it just before leaving. That's really, really not smart.
I had always supported you as you know but those last posts and especially those about PiG really disappointed me. I hope you will change this recent new behaviour so you won't spoil your chances of a good progamer carrier that your skill could allow you.
by no means was my list meant to be a complete one, don't take offense if some names aren't included please. I basically just looked at the tgm coach page as most of those guys have tons of coaching hours under their belt hence the experience with articulating their thoughts / strategy to mid range - lower level players and i thought they were suitable for the show. and i dont think targa would want to be associated with this based on his comments here lol.

no-one's taking offence; i just thought of tgun because i figured he would have been the most instantly recognisable name among US players next to moonglade (perhaps even more so with the its gosu attachment)
yea and even that demuslim drama too raised more awareness. would be nice to see tgun in this, im happy eddie steered the thread in the right direction and the show will feature a SEA guest. SEA gets more exposure, his show gets more exposure and everyone is happy.
yoyo.. ease up guys..
tbh - nirv. I wasn't having a go at you about all aLt connection.. but it wouldn't be the 6 names I'd put forward as representatives of SEA after mOOnGLaDe... So I was a little confused at a few of your pics.. but I get what you mean about them being able to elaborate on the strategies and articulate themselves well...
Targa - people just want to cuddle and call each other awesome in this lovey dovey community - now that's not a bad thing.. but I can see how it sickens some personalities... And your sledge hammer approach to passing on your opinion (while it is a valued and often appropriate opinion) can sometimes be a little blunt for some people.
Back on topic - SEA needs exposure.. make it happen..
I think the three big Zerg's are TargA, Moonglade and PiG
Also Mafia
Ninja is good too
i dunno just take the top SEA players and chances are they are zerg cause everyone else seems to be ;P
Noone is questioning TargA's intelligence or skill when they are questioning his attitude and elitist comments... Attacking those things in response to any criticism only leads to making that impression of him even more ingrained.
And chad, those comments can be funny, up to a point, but IMIO it goes well past that point when he blatantly poss that he hopes PiiG loses in a tourney he's competing in. Even if TargA feels he's a better player than PiG and deserves these oppurtunities, PiG has put a lot of effort into the community to be that guy that we all love right now. He shouldn't go hating because he hasn't done that, yet still wants to begrudge PiG everything hes; getting out of that right now.
I think nemo needs to put a self imposed ban on talking about the following
1. whats good for esports
7. professionalism
12. the image of a progamer
5. posting a genuine response to an obvious troll. i mean seriously are you new to the internet?
its like a double edged sword. enjoy getting a response out of certain people! dread reading the garbage they post.
TLDR you are not very intelligent

that link sends me to a producers only log in shaft
This post 1000% did not deserve an infraction.. the hammer might have missed the nail here..
if you read it - he says, the link sends to a producers only log in, Shaft. saying the link is broken.. which Shaft then fixes... Why does it get an infraction?.. Cause Simon wasn't quite up to enough infraction points for a ban?..
Looks good! (although a bit long, to be honest I think a lot of people won't watch the entire thing). Regardless, make sure you include links to the VOD each week, since many of us won't be awake to watch it live.
I would be very excited if you featured a SEA player for this
Another PC, condescending post from Nemo treating targa's post like it's super serious. What the **** is this random dude even doing on SEA forums beyond in-depth gold level replay/hack analysis and telling trolls off when they're not being adult enough for the sake of mild eSports sponsorships that will be there regardless of forum behaviour?
I guess this backwater forum is a refuge for oversensitive carebears and sheep to sit around stroking one another before the glory of eSports. All headed by a man with a god complex and the debating skills of an avalanche. His right hand, Baka, who bans whomever Nirv pisses off without question (queue me up). His prodigy Pig who never fails to make an excuse after a loss (it wasn't the place to say it but Targa was right). HuT who is somehow on a pro-team. Stallion who shuts down his community clan citing 'lack of time' for real life then joins aLt within the day and SQL within weeks. Erasmus whose every post makes me want to shave my eyes with a cheese grater. Nemo who never misses an opportunity to share his 'adult' wisdom. I'm sure there are others but that's enough shoutouts for now.
God forbid there's any criticism, unforced humour or negativity. Perhaps Nirv needs to partition off the humour to a joke/troll thread to keep the rest of the forum squeaky clean and super serious. I truly wish Nirvana could develop a sense of humour, basic diplomacy and refrain from condescension in his dealings with the forum. The edits, the moved threads, the burying of controversial threads/posts, the prejudicial bans and always the incessant head patting up-reps. I can almost always anticipate a Nirv up-rep these days just by checking if the post is PC, serious and agrees with Nirv's initial opinion. Apologies (if he deems them sincere) are a gold mine, as is disagreeing with TA members and feigning maturity. All I see is a half patronising-half evangelist agenda to mould this forum into a utopia of forced positivity and overly polite sheep stuck in perpetual rep coitus. I know i'm not the only one sick of Nirv thrusting his values down our throats (and no, TA is not a hive mind, some agree, some don't, because on average we're a bunch of students in their 20's capable of individual opinions and thoughts [just look at minimat's blogs]). Come to think of it the rep system just builds up dislike faster than regular forums. I see the same people up-repping bad posts all the time and I guess the irritation just festers.
Fortunately, I have no real need for posting rights on this forum anymore and have been rep-banned for ages anyway (for using the neg rep button and having a bias). GLHF

I'm not going to answer to your rant as it would not be very usefull. But basically I like to be on this forum because management do what it takes to get rid of the sort of behaviour you just showed. There are hundreds of sites with keyboard warriors that end up being offensive and boring. I let you those and I stay here if you don't mind.
I do care for Targa and that was my point. I really think that following the path and advice of "cool guys" like you are going to deserve him and I hope the best for him because he's not a bad guy.

Let's be clear, as he said to Nirvana in the chat box a few days ago, his recent trolling contains serious messages. And those serious messages are the ones I don't like.

It's such a honour to be on your list of such great guys. I'm really proud of being there.
No, seriously, though, about the length of this particular episode: Generally, Zergling Round-Up (my other, less-educational show) is ~60 minutes long. MGM varies between 60-120 minutes. This episode is grotesquely over those numbers, but there's good reason for that.
Quite simply, there was so much good and juicy content that Alkresh had to share. By the end, people were begging for us not to turn off the stream but we both were too hungry to function for much longer.

Don't shoot the messenger here, but no one is still checking this thread because of your show except you, i promise you.
First and foremost I’d like to apologise to the SC2SEA community, and in particular the forum posters of SC2SEA, who were caught in the crossfire of an ongoing disagreement I was involved in and for the language and personal attacks that have been construed as racist or offensive in my post. I immediately regretted what was said in the post.
Secondly I apologise to nirvana and his wife, who again was unnecessarily included in this personal disagreement. As for mentioning nirvana’s wife, I didn't mean to directly offend her but it was extremely inappropriate none the less and I regret doing it. To nirvana specifically I withdraw and apologise for accusations of favouritism towards aLt or Singapore that are clearly untrue. I also recognise the effort you put in to the site and the asset that sc2sea is in consolidating and growing the community. Similarly I apologise to the admins of the site that I insulted in my post and want to thank them for their work and effort and encourage them to keep it up.
In particular I want to sincerely apologise for the aforementioned racist and offensive insults that were made public. I never intended anything I wrote to be racist, but have since heard that many people felt differently. I was angry and frustrated and it showed in my childish response that was not fit for private conversation let alone a public forum. Anyone who took real exception to anything that was said I implore you to send me a Private Message and discuss it with me and see how I can make it up to you or explain myself if possible.
Finally, if we can take anything positive out of this it is that many of the differences in opinion or problems myself and the SC2SEA staff had have been brought to light and aired out a bit. Some of the things we have reached agreements on where they might have still been there now affecting future relations between members of the community. I will seek to improve my attitude towards the staff and members of sc2sea and hope in turn I can regain your trust. Hopefully in the future any misunderstandings or criticisms can be approached civilly in a more constructive atmosphere.
