E-Sports, Professional Gaming and Starcraft 2.

Good day people! I'm Jason 'zFxJYoong' Yoong. I'm not much of a contribution to the Starcraft 2 Community. I'm even called a noob, cheeser or whatsoever you can call it, but i've faith, and i'll keep learning to get better. I'm gonna post yet ANOTHER long post mostly about myself, the game, and the scene.

I'm Jason 'zFxJYoong' Yoong from Malaysia . I was a professional gamer for the game league of legends, it has always been my dream to be a progamer and to play in wcg. Last year, after stopping from being a professional poker player, I took a break and was introduced by my good friends to play league of legends, then we started playing competitively after awhile. Coincidently, I fell in love with Kim Taeyeon (I KNOW ITS RIDICULOUS BUT.. HEHE), a member of k-pop group Girls Generation, and the wcg grand finals coincidently happened to be held in Korea. I was super hyped up and determined to win wcg and go to Korea as I am crazy and, crazy to even think of marrying Taeyeon. So yeah, we tried and shit and came really close to winning Malaysia's national finals, then shit happened, we did not win it. I was so devastated as I was told that Girls Generation might be performing at the opening ceremony of wcg grand finals. Then I waited till the day wcg grand finals stated. I was supposed to watch all the games for league of legends, but I accidentally clicked into the stream for Starcraft 2, and then it all started...

The first game I watched was between MVP and some random guy I can't recall. I fell in love with the game ever since, the crowd, the community for starcraft 2. I started googling about the game, watching streams ( but still not playing it ). I can't play Starcraft 2 as in Malaysia, it's pretty hard to play games ar home as connection in Malaysia is a joke. So I was 'forced' to play in the cyber cafe, if that's what you call it in you country. And this cyber cafe I always play in, has no starcraft 2, what a joke right? So after awhile, I cant take it anymore and I actually took two pendrives to another cyber cafe to store the file and brought it back to my cyber cafe to play. For a good two months, until they decided to duplicate my file and fix it in the cyber cafe's system. I started out being a shitty piece of shit in sc2 (although I still am). I was bronze back then when starcraft 2 just released, played my way up to diamond just building mutas and was mainly playing troll 2v2s with a poker mate during free time. And then we stopped playing.

Then I started playing again around 5 months ago, being in diamond, lost 95% of my games (games I won are games where my opponents disconnected). Had no idea how to play, and did not know how to search for builds and shit. Played for about one month not knowing the basics and started inventing my own stupid build orders, I got slightly better. Then the more streams I watched k-pop I listened to, my determination and motivation increased. I got into masters! With a very very bad ratio, and I mean very very bad. This is when my good old friend from Starcraft 2, my clanmate in clan Onslaught, started guiding me and giving me directions in the game. I finally got into GrandMaster after a week or so, that was one of the greatest thing happened to me, ever. Then day by day I kept playing and kept trying to get better. Wanting to become one of the best, and represent my country in wcg 2012. That is the day I've made up my mind and determined to be a full-time progamer in starcraft 2, I've yet to do so but I will keep fighting! I would also love to thank my good friends in Starcraft 2, it would be too long to list the names but all you good buds of me would know who i'm talking about, but there are few person i'd like to thank that helped me when i'm in pretty shitty situation.. They're SEAGseffierrR, iVnClare, onsCalcifer, YidaToT, nRvGriM. Really thank you for helping me go through the worst days of my life. And also xGKingJazBas, the guy that helped me improve alot, alot with my ZvP, that's my worst Matchup. He's basically the first and only person who actually talked to me about the game, and getting better. I'm really glad, to have known him. And also BenQMskiJabi, he's also one of the only progamers that talks and helps me out with my gameplay. thanks bud!

I would also talk about a small part of my life. I am a Taiwanese mixed Malaysian, born in Malaysia, staying in Malaysia. Keen to fight for my country, Malaysia instead of playing for the Taiwanese scene, as i'm keen to fight for the SEA community. I've been given many opportunities in life but i've always neglected them and wasted those opportunities. When i was 17, after my finals during high school, my dad gave me a choice to work myself and live on my own, and choose what i want to do, my future. OR i could follow his footsteps and take over his business, which would give me a good life but that would mean less gaming or NO gaming. I chose to work, live on my own, i did pretty okay. Was working part time then i was introduced to Poker, started playing it, had a good run, and i got good at the game.. Then my life was pretty awesome for abit. But well, shit happens, and shit happened.. Lost some friends in the process, then my best friend introduced me to play League Of Legends, played it, got good at it too, then became professional gamer in it. As you can see 2 paragraphs above. But being a professional gamer ain't an easy life, it's harder than what others can think of, ESPECIALLY in SEA, and it's worse to be in MALAYSIA. in other countries there are their own professional team, like Mineski - Philipines, MiTH - Thailand, Flash E-Sports - Singapore, Nv, xGKing, cR and lots more in Australia. But in Malaysia? We have NOTHING. So i struggled to have a team up for League Of Legends, and the scene in Malaysia for League of Legends ain't too bad, so we were doing OKAY.

But after i started playing Starcraft 2 casually, i fell in love with Starcraft 2 and decided to part ways with my teammates in LoL to pursue Starcraft 2 Full-Time, and get better. Although till today, i still have not achieve what i want to, but i guess it takes time, and i gotta do it step by step. In order to support myself financially so i don't end up starving till death, i help my dad out occasionally when he needs me to, to earn some extra cash. Other than that, i give coaching on Starcraft 2 to whoever that's interested or likes me. It's enough to keep myself alive, i guess. Well, lotsa people laughed at me, doubted me and questioned me why would i pursue being a professional gamer in Malaysia? I answered with : 'Professional gaming has been my dream since young, i'm 20, i'm still young, i wan't to fight for what i want, i believe if you have faith and determination, you can do it. If you were to die tomorrow, would u rather die fighting for what you believe, fighting for your dreams, or would you die doing what you do every single day, just so you have a 'normal' life? E-Sports, Professional Gaming is one of the fastest growing industry in the 21st century, being a professional gamer is considered a 'good job' now. Look at them progamers in the US, Europe and Korea, or whereever, they're doing good. Yes, i know for SEA residents, it's really tough and hard, but if we refuse to fight for what we want, nothing will happen. People always say : SEA server for Starcraft 2 is shit, SEA players are shit. WE - SEA players have always been the underdogs in Tourneys, in games.. By what people say : ASIANS are good at games, they don't include us.. WE must, and i mean MUST fight for our future, our pride, and what we believe in. I'm really glad i'm a part of the growing community of SEA E-Sports community. Although there's nothing much i can contribute but i hope this post, would at least help inspire and motivate some players (i expect lots of haters, haters gotta hate). Always believe in yourselves, do what you want. After all, it's your life to live, and you only have one life to live. Till this day, i'm still not a full time pro-gamer or even a professional, but still working my way on doing so, so there's apologies if i'm noone to be posting all these bullshit but please do, never give up on yourselves, we've something big to achieve.

We gamers must always support and believe in e-sports. Starcraft 2 will never die, with us, it'll keep growing, it will! No matter what, we must always show our support and contribute any part of us to the community. It's also time to show the world that we, SEA-ians are not weak, we are the boss! We will win the next coming GSL! and we will win WCG 2012! It's a big dream, but with dedication and handwork, I believe we can do it!

Jason 'zFxJYoong' Yoong,
Urging all Starcraft 2 gamers to do your part in the scene, help assisting the scene to get bigger and better. All players from .

After all, what would Jesus do? Or even, what would Jesus advice you to do?
Think, people, Try, people. It's okay to fail, knowing you will climb back up, and show the world that you're not made of nothing ! Till then, people. CHEERS !
Remember, life ain't easy. When life's shitty, it can get even worse. Just gotta remember that nothing comes free, you gotta work your way up, and work your way for something. Come join me with my journey of 'almost' impossible, but let's enjoy the journey as it goes. (:

GL, HF. GG, WP.
