Hey guys, I need help with my router! The problem is the little ******* piece of shit resets itself every ******* hour causing me to dc for a split second thus resulting in disconnecting from games and losing. Ive poken around in my router settings to see if you can change something or tick a box saying dont be a ******* spastic but i cant seem to find anything so if anyone is savvy with routers and could help me out it would be greatly appreciated! The router I have is dlink DIR-645. Im pretty sure its a router problem, ive rung ISP no problem on their end, and it happens on every comp in the house so i know its not a virus (unless routers get viruses), and well because when i go into router settings the connection counter goes from 59:59 to 0:00, and it happens at the same minute every hour.
Thanks!
Ok router troubles are annoying to work out without using team viewer or something so the first advice I can give you is to update firmware and reset all the settings.
Couple of questions do you have a modem connected to this router?
Do you have any weird setup like a college network?
Check your DHCP allocation lease time(however this shouldn't matter)
Yes, modem connected, netgear CGD 24n v2, ISP is telstra on cable.
errmm depends what u define as weird. Modem gets net, goes to router, router broadcasts wirelessly and through a few cables that go throughout the house to my desktop and the other desktop.
DHCP lease time set to: 10080 minutes.
Checked firmware its current up to date version.
Couldnt figure out how to reset all settings back to default am i retarded?
Thanks for your help tho
Sweet, ok to reset the settings there should be a switch on the back that says reset, might be a button you need to poke with a needle. Warning: This will cause all settings to be reset so like the SSID, password etc you can get the default username and password to login off the bottom of the router. However its usually admin admin.
Weird network I mean like big networks like campus residence networks(I live on one, causes me many problems with my networking) However it seems you do not have that issue.
I was googling your problem and I couldn't really find anything that stands out. If the reset settings fail. I will get you to copy paste the system log at the time just before and after the disconnect reset problem.
Reading the problems that other people are having It sounds like the DHCP lease your router is getting from the ISP is set to 1hour(3600 seconds). Systemlog will show if that is the case, if you could copy paste it for me that would be great.

Yeah, looks like that is the problem. Call the ISP and tell them about the systemlog findings and such. If they bullshit ask for a level 2 or level 3 tech and talk to them.
Yea it looks like its on the ISP end. They are giving your router a lease for an hour it should be way way way longer. Hopefully they can clear it up for you . No problems im happy to help. If they mess you around or it doesn't fix the problem message me and we can sort something else out.
