[QEDBanana]

Hello everyone, I'm QEDBanana, recently joined the clan QED and this is my first post on sc2sea. This build I have been working on is basically meant to super charge your economy early game while being able to hold rushes (lings and blings) in zvz. I currently only use this against any non 15 hatch opener (personally against 15 hatch i go 15 hatch 16 gas 16 pool) but im sure with a few tweaks it could be used against this to.

Build order

15 hatch

15 pool

17 overlord

at 18 supply save minerals so that when pool finishes you can make 2 queens and a spine in main bace as well as 6 lings(hide 1 ling in a corner like protoss do against zerg to hide pylon and use remaining 5 lings defensively)

transfer spine to natural and make a 2nd spine. Make an overlord at 24 food and prepare to make 2 more queens(if your overlord sees zerg is still on 1 bace get 4 spines, if he has expanded 2 will do).

Continue droneing and add 2 gas into your main when you are 6 drones oversaturated in your main(in zvz i like to not transfer as u lose a lot of mining time runnng drones away from banelings and lings). Get speed and a roach warren and 1 more round of drones around 8-10 (rallied to natural, again this isn't needed its more of a preference). Send hidden zergling in to scout.

From here there are two things you can do
a) if you see your opponent is teching to muta after your last round of drones make 10 roaches (assuming injects are good) and rally them to your oponent. reinforce with lings and this will almost always(sorry if this is wrong i have only had around 10 games with this build) win.

b)if you see he is going roaches u can just continue droning, grab a 3rd and transition into a roach vs roach mid game



If anyone is wondering were I got this build from, when I was in silver league(i am currently high diamond) I saw a vod of leenok holding a 1 bace all in with mass queen spine crawler and only recently have a tried it out the idea (silver being a long time ago I can’t remember the specifics but the basic idea still remained).

This is a game against some random diamond player on the north american server. This was actually the 2nd game i trying out this build so i am quite sloppy at it but it shows how to hold off ling bane off 1 base with it, it then shows that with my economy i can make 1 round of roaches and then reinforce with lings(granted this was my 2nd game and i had yet 2 learn how difficult it is to get a scout with slow lings)

In this game, my opponent does not apply much pressure, as i was trying out the roach all in transition against every follow up the opponent can do(also I forgot to hide ling in corner :P). When I attack i do a lot of economical damage but do not end the game with reinforcing lings. Because of this i macroed out with a drone advantage but lost because of poor positioning.

So yes, this is my current zvz build at the moment and it has been working out great. The 3 queens at natural with 2-4 spines allows u to drone freely without dying 2 ling bling shenanigans. The 2 things I love about this build is you have an amazing economy early game as you are making drones instead of lings and 2 because i don't lose matches anymore because of 1 bad baneling hit anymore :P. Like I mentioned I have used this build around 10 times(7 on ladder) and have lost 3 times. the first game because I forgot that banelings can actually kill queens xD, and the second because it was a long macro game and i tried to base race with brood lords (bad idea :P) and the last game because i wasn't thinking about how 2 engage with my roaches as much as I should and even with my drone advantage lost because of these horrid engagements. Hopefully this guide isnt to horrible as it is my first time and any feedback would be much appreciated . Sorry for the wall of text xD.

a very viable strategy, the only downside is no method of harassing early on.

yea that is the one problem i have with this build because of the delayed speed. Thanks for pointing it out

what happens if they take an extremely fast third.

wouldn't this die to early pool cheeses?

I personally like
14 pool
16 hatch
16 queen
18 spine
17 ovie
17 gas

then get bane nest incase of speedling expand, or 14 14 bane all in
+ I don't die to early pool because I had my pool before expanding

EDIT: I don't get ling speed in ZvZ, so I do a 2 base timing with speed roaches and at least take out his third if he has one

yea that is the problem with 15 hatch but if it is 6 pool i just cancel hatch, make pooland micro my drones, i actually have never vsd a 10 pool when i have 15 hatched haha.

same as it would against any other 15 hatch opener i guess(i have never actually vsd a 10 pool when i have 15 hatched haha although when i scout a 6 pool i cancel hatch straight away and make pool haha.

How does this handle mass ling pressure at the start? (e.g. 20 speedlings)

I used to do some variation of this but found that without opening banelings you're very vulnerable to these mass ling pressure - even if you ramp block they can just snipe your hatch and you're behind against their 21expand or even 15hatch-into speedlings.

I don't know but wouldn't 2 early spines(adding more considering how all in it is) with 3 queens hold it? i haven't actually vsd the strat myself haha everyone just either macros out seeing a 15 hatch or trys and fails at a baneling bust haha.
