SC2SEA.com's Bronze, Silver & Gold Open Tournament #01
The SC2SEA BSG Open #01 will consist of 32 players, however if the interest grows, we will increase the player cap in the following weeks to meet the demand. We're hoping to have a large amount of players and have this a reoccurring event, happening weekly.
If all goes to plan, aLtnirvAnA will be organising a SCII SEA/ANZ professional to do some guest-commentary & live-streaming to kick off the start of this tournament for SC2SEA.com. This will be a great way for players in the bronze, silver and gold league to tune-in and take on-board some solid tried and true advice from a professional player! It'll also allow you to spot the mistakes in your own game-play that are keeping you from progressing up the ranks! Even if you're not participating in this tournament, tuning in to the live-stream and commentary will still prove beneficial to you!
Also, please take care and ensure you read the details listed below to avoid any confusion regarding tournament dates, times and sign-up times.
Details:
Date: Wednesday, 29th December, 2010. Time: 9pm EST (Melbourne, Australia +10). Fixed World Clock Location: Battle.net SEA region. How to sign up*: Sign-ups are open! Click this link to sign up! Casted by: Unstable, featuring Guest Pro "Unstable"
Rules and Regulations:
· Players must be logged into SCII SEA region 15 minutes before their match-up. Players who are 15 or more minutes late will be disqualified and their opponent will be given an automatic win.
· Matches will be played as a Bo1, however both the semi-finals and finals will be played as a Bo3.
· Spectators will be allowed, however permission must be granted by both players in the current match-up. Referees and casters will also be allowed to spectate.
· If any disconnects occur within the first two minutes of game-play, the match will be replayed. However if the disconnect occurs after two minutes of game-time, then it is up to the discretion of the player who did not disconnect to decide whether the match will be either: A) replayed, or B) forfeited.
· All replays need to be sent to bsg-tournament@live.com.au, furthermore any disputes will be handled by myself after reviewing all associated replays.
· Any inappropriate behaviour will result in a disqualification.
Map List:
The first map of each round is pre-determined and outlined in the following list. The losing player of each match will decide the subsequent map. The map pool is as follows:
Ro64: Blistering Sands.
Ro32: Shakuras Plateau.
Ro16: Lost Temple.
Ro8: Steppes of War.
Semi-Finals: Metalopolis.
Finals: Xel'Naga Caverns.
Player brackets will be created and linked in the reserved post below.
Prize-Pool:
The current prize pool will be all the fame and glory that is associated with winning a SCII tournament, as well as a short interview with the winner on the site (www.sc2sea.com). Over the next few weeks we be looking into adding more incentives for players, such as 1-on-1 training lessons with a SCII pro, among other amazing prizes that will help you become a better SCII gamer!
We would like for all people from the gold, silver and bronze league to join, participate and most importantly, have a good time!
Just in-case you guys were wondering, the reason we are opening registration on the same day as the tournament is to hopefully reduce as many 'no-shows' as possible to ensure that all participants have a smooth and enjoyable experience in SC2SEA.com's first BSG Open! When the registration opens, all participants will be added to my reserved post below.
Looking forward to it guys!
Kind regards,
SkyBreaker.
Looks like he's changed the date but not the day, if you read u will see it is delayed until Wednesday 29th.
I think everyone will be together (in delete's Gold and Under tourney the other week two bronze level players ended up in the finals.) You will be suprised at how little diffenece there is between gold and bronze i think

We're hoping to have this tournament a weekly event
The games will be played at 9pm (Melbourne/Sydney, Australia) (6pm SGT).
Brackets will be generated at the start of the tournament and it is your own responsibility to find your opponent's character code, add them in-game and create a lobby on the map LISTED in the rules and regulations.
You must then report the win/loss to me in-game (SkyBreaker.895) and the winner must e-mail the replay(s) to bsg-tournament@live.com.au.
Unstable and myself will sit in on games along the way for casting and commentary purposes, the players of which games we will be sitting in on will be notified before the start of the tournament. Make sure you tune in if you're not playing, it will have a lot of useful information
So we have completed the first BSG tournament for SC2SEA.com and it all went according to plan and I hope all those who participated and tuned into Unstable's stream had a blast!
The winner is: D4rkFusion (Fusion 835)!
Big thanks to Unstable for his awesome casting and commentating, you can check the VoDs at http://www.youtube.com/unstabletv1. We will hopefully be running this tournament weekly so stay tuned in this forum!
Again, congratulations to Fusion for taking the win for the first BSG Open, furthermore congratulations for his recent promotion into Platinum!
A quick interview with the winner...
Quote:
Hi Fusion and on behalf of myself and sc2sea.com, congratulations on winning our first-ever BSG tournament! Just a few quick questions which will be uploaded to sc2sea.com...
Where abouts are you playing from?
I'm from singapore and am 16 turning 17.
Ah awesome! Young and competitive, they're both great traits to have! In regards to the tournament, what did you think of sc2sea.com's first-ever BSG tournament?
I think it's a great event for lower level players like us to be given a chance at going deep into tournaments without having to face powerhouses like Pinder, Glade etc.
That was definitely something we were aiming at, tournaments in SCII are one of the most fun aspects of the game and we wanted all players to be able to experience that! What would your three most important pieces of advice be to other BSG players?
I think for players at out level, we should focus on our macro and our openings. Perfect the timings of certain build orders and keeping the minerals and gas low. Also, another thing I feel low level players fail to do is to scout. Scout and be able to react properly.
Speaking more personally now in regards to SCII, what are your goals for the future?
Get into the diamond league (Almost there! Just got promoted to plat!) and hopefully go deep in a CO.
Congratulations! Good luck moving onwards up the leagues and ranks! One last question before we wrap this up, when did you start playing StarCraft?
Started playing Brood-War since i was a kid. Since I was 8 years old and waited forever for StarcCraft 2! As for StarCraft 2, i started playing it once it launched.
Very nice! Again thank you for participating in and being the victor in our first BSG tournament, all the best for the future!
Kind regards,
SkyBreaker of sc2sea.com
Fusion's replay-pack can be found here as well as the VoDs from the event which will be uploaded to Unstable's YouTube channel.
