Blizzard just announced an OPEN BETA For this weekend, (april 20-april 23),
It begins Saturday at 05:00 am AEST (ty Djvillian for doing the math).

"We're pleased to announce the Diablo III open beta weekend, which offers open access to all players with a valid Battle.net account! Beginning this Friday everyone is invited to log in and help us put the game and servers through their paces in this three day stress test as we march toward the game's release on May 15. You can begin downloading the Diablo III client right now!
From Friday, April 20 at 12:01 p.m. PDT (noon), until Monday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT you'll be able to log in, team up with friends, and play each of the five heroic classes to level 13 as you fight to save the world from the impending demonic invasion."

What steps do I need to take?
•Log in or create a Battle.net account at http://www.battle.net
•Create your BattleTag™, which is required to play Diablo III (This is Blizzards New Cross-Game ID Thing i beleive, an ID& 4-Digit Code)
•Download the game client, install, and play between 12:01 p.m. PDT April 20 and 10:00 a.m. PDT April 23

Remember- This is mainly a Stress Test so expect some server instability & disconnects, but to everyone that wasnt lucky enough to get a key, jump in and have a go!

Maybe we can get a SC2SEA Beta runthrough happening? i'm pretty sure they opened up one of the ridiculous difficulties, might be fun!

EDIT: •Hardcore mode is now available, and can be unlocked by reaching level 10 with at least one character

I'd only heard bits and pieces, but i chased it up and as of beta patch 14 -

General
•Hardcore mode is now available, and can be unlocked by reaching level 10 with at least one character
(is hardcore a higher difficulty? or is it only perma-death?)

Yoyo, I'm achievement hunting - one i need is ''Life Saver'' where I have to revive a character from each class. Problem is... nobody dies in beta!

Anyone wanna co-op with me for a bit? I'll need you to die with each class.. if you don't have the achievement I can return the favour

I went through the campaign as Wizard and Barbarian, and found the Wizard much more fun. more positioning and kiting, but sill awesome.

what the hell is the go with Battletags. it says that "Volition" breached the naming policy. Such BS. anyone e,lse had problems with completely normal names? my battletag is not Volition85, which sucks

I am still not sure what you do once you have finished the d3 campaign, like what type of long term playability is there?

But yeah, after having so much fun with the Wizard looks like i will be getting it also.

I got stuck in and sunk 5 hours doing leoric runs. I love the physics of the game, when stuff is dead and you can still smash it around the screen. Definitely worth my money for the collectors editions I think. It looks like the game is going to be a lot of fun - can't wait for May 15!

Played a little today, first time touching anything Diablo. I love how shiny/magically looking the entrance/exit door things look with dat orangey glow.

Love the bodies bouncing up in the air if you drop a chandelier on already-dead-dudes, and the major flying body parts while playing the barbarian

Yea love that too! When I play Barbarian I feel so strong and powerful everything just gets knocked away from my sheer power hehe ^^

It's about time they made it open, surprised this hasn't happened sooner.

Although in all honesty, unless the extend the areas (ie: I can keep going after the SK) I probably won't bother. I've seen the inside and outside of that starting area about 1000000000000000 times.

On the plus side, YAY! 21 days until full release.
