I scouted a late hatch opening, so I decided to go nexus before cannon. Zerg was dumb enough to let my probe go, so I sneaked it into his 3rd. I put down 2x cannons just in case, and decide to scout with probe to see what zerg is up to. I see roaches flooding in, no hatch. So I immediately add 2x more (badly placed) cannons, totalling 4.
Zerg was able to snipe my nexus, but he didn't kill a single probe. He realized that a wall of 4 cannons and a chronoed voidray is too much, and retreated to safely expand thinking he is ahead. 400 mins into new nexus and 300 mins into well-needed cannons is not the price for the 9 min 2nd base for zergie.
I was pretty sure he'd do double expo or nydus + hydra after my stargate. A precaution pylon didn't see anything remotely close to 3rd base, so nydus it was. I luckily chased off an OS, so zerg had to nydus into my natural. Hero stalker delayed it a bit too.
Note: As I've stated many times, mothership is one of the best possible defenses for a hydra timing.
I pulled off my patented carrier + mothership defense and held the push back, as cannons and hero carrier cleared the hydra. He did get some probe kills, but that was about as much as he could do.
Seeing no 3rd, I knew zerg would not have enough gas to get corruptors and would commit to hydra. So I kept pumping them carriers, lvl 2 attack was incoming, so was catapult upgrade. As he kept denying my gas at the natural, I sneaked a 3rd up north to get more gas.
Note: Carriers have one significant advantage over colossi. They fly.
I had a probe and a voidray spying on the map and watched the zerg camping and expanding to gold. I easily maneuvered around his hydra+spore wall and sniped the gold. Zerg rushed into my natural thinking it's over with my army out of position, but I recalled 5x 2:0 carriers into his face. Ever seen how fast hydra melts to carriers? I see it every day.
Edit: I'm in the same division as WhiteRa!!!!!!!
