[Closed]How to enter SC2 tournaments? When are they held?
hi all, i'm currently thinking of making the transition from BW to SC2. i'd like to dedicate a lot of time to SC2 and was wondering how often tournaments are held as i'd like to enter them. i understand that there are different leagues -- diamond, gold etc. what do these mean? if a person reaches diamond league do they receive anything or are they granted access to tournaments?
The rankings are what is used on the SC2 ladder, similar to an ICCUP ranking. Any tournaments you want to enter can be found here on the right hand side of sc2sea as well as on teamliquid.net and other miscellaneous sites, you will have to google for them.
Reality is though, unless you are master/grandmaster level (top 2% of all regions players) then youll likely not be eligible to compete for cash.
Leagues are similar to ranking on iccup (i didnt play BW so idk) , its your ladder rank, so the lowest being bronze(bottom 20% of the server) and the highest being grandmaster (top 200 on the server)
They generally indicate a 20% portion of the ladder at any time.
As for tournaments theres heaps, until you're really good you'll wanna be entering online ones, the comps on here are good, cash prizes arent huge but you can prove yourself and work your way up.
Some competitions will only accept players of a certain rank- for instance the Bronze/silver/gold tournament only accepts people in those leagues, but will have only a nominal prize (such as bragging rights)
Whereas the masters cup, while open to all, is predominantly won by masters and grandmasters players, but has a $75 cash prize and is held weekly.
Majority are held online and you can join from the forums, usually theres a sign-up link in the thread with instructions.
