Diablo 3 date announced - May 15th, 2012!!

The End of Days approaches…. Diablo III will be unleashed from the Burning Hells on May 15, 2012, and you can be ready to play the minute the servers go live by pre-purchasing the game digitally on Battle.net today.

Beginning May 15, players around the world will be able to return to Tristram to discover the dark secrets of a fallen star and begin their quest to save Sanctuary from the impending demonic invasion. To secure your place as a barbarian, monk, demon hunter, witch doctor, or wizard right now, simply log in to your Battle.net account, and then purchase and download* Diablo III, and you’ll be ready to play when the game launches.

Note: There will no region lock. There will be 3 servers, Asia, Americas and Europe and players can choose to play on any one of these. Your game-client version does not hinder your ability to select which regional game server you can play on.

crAzerk for D2 they had a collect the most ears thing. Maybe hardcore leveling period too. Not sure yet but im sure we can think of something!

Just been reading through the TL comments, two things to note for people who care about either beta or money:

1) Apparently digital purchase rewards you with immediate beta access
2) Apparently the game costs $25 more if you buy it with a SEA Battle.net account. NA accounts are cheaper. *shrug*

Gonna be quoting someone from reddit who predicted the release date via math, because this is awesome!

So if Bashiok said that the Diablo 15th anniversary site would be ready early in the week, and Diablo 3 is said to be released in early 2012, let's math this up!
From what I can tell the anniversary website was up around 2:30 PST today. Assuming that the week starts Monday(cause seriously who really considers Sunday the first day of the week) the site was live 62.5 hours into the week.
100% * 62.5 / (24 * 7) gives us that that the site was released 37.2% of the way through the week.
0.372 * 366 days this year = Diablo 3 will be released 136.16 days in to the year.
Calling it now, Diablo 3 will be released on May 15th which just so happens to be a Tuesday! Clearly my logic is flawless and this is the only possible release date.
