SEABets As It Stands
Incase anyone is interested I went through and recounted all the votes through SEABet till this point (not counting this current week) to see how the punters thought the league table would look at this point.
1. TA - 124
2. Mixed Lollies - 122
3. Zerocraft - 108
4. FaDe - 77
5. Perth Penguins - 75
6. Krrn and Co - 69
7. ToR - 62
8. TCP - 52
9. VB - 21
10. Fusion Slugs - 17
11. Team HoH - 13
Draw votes are shared between the teams.
(ie. if one team is 21-2 with 2 saying draw, I calculate them as 23-4).
My Take On Things
Interesting to note, looking at the standings after last week the punters have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 10th and 11th in the right spots but everything else is all over the shop!
The most notable spot difference would have to be FaDe - with the votes showing them in 4th but currently sitting in 7th position.
To me this shows the punters have high confidence in FaDe's ability to really push though and be a top competitor in the league - something Volition's write-ups have mirrored - and i'll be interested to see how he breaks the league down for the coming week.
Cheers for reading!
EDIT - I count draws as a draw vote shows a "half-confidence" in both teams by the voters. A draw vote holds more weight and confidence than no vote for the team. To be fair I SHOULD count draws as half votes (since its half the confidence of a win vote), but i'm too lazy to go back and re-do it :P

Reason: Added edit. BBCode.
There comes a certain time in any analysists life where they realise that no matter how much thinking, reviewing of stats and research they do, they are essentially just guessing. However, that does not mean all is lost, if you have lost to a player in the SEACL games, make sure you upload them to the new sc2sea replay holder thingo. I am not sure whether that is just me being spiteful, but being able to search for an opponent and game type should make it easy for us to scope out our opponents each week. so upload gogogo
Here are the results as i know them:-
Zerocraft [3] v ToR [2] with 1 to play
It all comes down to Deathsfang and evilSWAT - to determine whether Zerocraft gets 3 points or 1 point. THis game may have occurred already, but I havent seen the results yet.
As for the wins, JoFritzMD completely destroyed me 2-0, and i know that breadfan was the other winner for ToR over SmokyMcPot.
For Zerocraft, Spazznx continued his winning ways defeating ToREcho[5] in the ace match, and Rythos was just too good for AsylumofSouls (suipr), taking the game 2-1 after losing the first game. Midas was subbed out.
TA [5] def QED Krrn & Co [1]
I have decided that i am fairly comfortable with BM between clans in the same league that are friendly with each other, and despite the scoreline QED Krrn and Co were no "free win" - and TA brought a very strong lineup out to play. As for good performances, we have TAEaeron and TAEdarus taking out the first and last match. Marinefifty, TAs very strong diamond was just too strong for Jenkins, and Chadman made himself at home with Toybox. I havent actualyl seen Toybox play, but he has been playing some pretty handy players and usually taking a game if he does lose, so that is somethign that hopefulyl we see more of if QED makes the finals
The only light for QED Krrn & Co was Intoccabile, who took down Ridiculisk. Intoccabile has been winning a lot lately, and seems to be a force to be reckoned with not just for QED, but in the entire tier.
QED Mixed Lollies [5] def FaDe [1]
This one was pretty one sided in the end, with Cold, Upwaiting Fridge and Denile all winning their games. Welshy, deadpixel and salsaVision will all be upset, as i dont think the mixed lollies guys are that much better than FaDe to deserve a 5-1 drubbing. In the bottom 4 matches, the game score was 8-2, which is a pretty rough night.
The Baron was the only winner for FaDe, and Reaper's nightmare run continues. All i can say is good on QED for continuing with a bronzie this late in the season. QED Mixed Lollies were the only team that submitted a bronzie in week 8, and i hope that more teams share the chance to play around and dont neglect their bronzies if they are in the roster.
Perth Penguins [5] def VB [1]
VBPotthead was the only winner this week for VB, getting past wranga. Not really too much to say abotu VB, from their position on the ladder i dont think they can make the finals. But that being said, they will come back stronger for the next round of SEACL, and maybe do what TA and QED did - lose a season to dominate the next.
The penguins though. It is funny to think this team was completely unknown to everyone before SEACL. They are dominating and seem to have a really tight knit group of guys, and seem really manner. i dont think i have heard a single complaint about anyone from penguins, and after every match they have been thanked by the losing team. When most teams lose, they want the other team to die in a fire, but somehow the Penguins seem to keep getting thanks? This team is the real deal, and depending on the style of finals could actually take it all out.
And now, the one you all wanted to discuss
TCP Marinu Dropu [2] def by Fusion Slugs [4]
Everyone in this league seems to have a soft spot for the Fusion Slugs - they entered with the worst team on paper, and from the outset it looked like it was going to be a very long season for them. But they have persevered, and have continued to show up week after week. I think it is great they received a win - and hopefulyl there is many more to come for seasons to come. Where all of the other teams are turning into powerhouses of plats and diamonds, the Slugs are creeping along (see what i did thur?), with silvers and a dribbling of plats, all constantly improving. And there is nothing like the taste of victory that makes players want to improve.
In terms of performance, i think the best performer of the week was TCP Krycek - who reported the result in the thread straight away and showed his love for Fusion Slugs, congratulating them on their win. So manner, and is the reason why Tier 5 is the most friendly in the league. Krycek did go down do zomgrofl 2-0, and zomgrofl has been sneaking in a few wins this season. definitely big things ahead for him if he sticks with it
In the Ace Match, Navic was too good for BenAD (navic has been too good for a lot of players, so there is no shame in that). Question though for you guys - are you hitting many diamonds on the ladder? both of you guys MMR must be getting up around that level
As for the other 4 games, it was a Slug Whitewash, and i am really f*cking glad i got to say that once this season. Great wins to Dele(wildcard playing first game), zomgrofl, Samlee (who beat a player a division above him) and Bonik against Frogmite. Keep it up Slugs
As for TCP, there is always next season. but throughout the season you have been really manner and a pleasure to play against. WIth Pracbud behind you, i am sure you will be slaying nerds left and right next season
Week 9: The finals Close In
Few weird games this week - and with only this week and 2 more, the results for the top 7 become more crucial. I am not sure whether there has been an announcement as to the structure of the finals, but it looks like there will be at least 5 teams participating. I think that TA, Penguins and Mixed Lollies have booked their spots in the finals, but Zerocraft having to face TA and Penguins in successive weeks, and QED Krrn and Co with 6th place snapping at their heels, really neeed to perform to finish out the season with a chance for glory. As for the games themselves:-
Team HoH vs Slugs
Slugs vs HoH? Hell yes! these two teams are both near bottom of the ladder, this shoudl be a good matchup. With HoH coming off a draw with FaDe before the bye, and the Slugs winning against TCP Marinu Dropu, both teams should carry confidence into this game. As for a winner, i am not sure i want to predict - i have been not-so silently rooting for both teams all season long.
Fusion SLugs probably have a better lineup on paper, but then HoH have Vendon Douglas and CLS Smooth, which i think is about equivalent to BenAD Bonik and Dele. Should be a close one.
Prediction: I think HoH could get this one, but it will mostly depend on game 4 and the ace. the two points for the ace will be essential, and both teams will have a think abou tit and try to put out a strong player.
Krrn and Co v TCP Marinu Drop
I keep backing TCP to take out wins and they keep on letting me down. So no more TCP, you have broken my heart too many times.
Krrn and Co will want to win this to try secure the spot in the final series. And they should be able to get the points.
Prediction: Krrn & Co 5 def TCP 1
VB vs TA Edarus & Friends
Another rough week for VB - having the Perth Penguins and TA in successive weeks. The TA juggernaught should roll over VB, but hopefulyl Potthead or another guy in games 1-3 from VB can sneak in a win or two
Prediction: VB 1 def by TA 5
ToR vs FaDe
Both teams will be hoping to press their claim to the final 5, and if either will make it, they must win this game. A draw will not suffice, they need the 3 points that comes with victory.
On past results, you have to go with ToR, After beating Mixed Lollies and pushing Zerocraft to the brink. The FaDe guys have been tryign to kickstart their season, but it just isnt happenign at the moment
Prediction: ToR 4 def FaDe 2
Perth Penguins v Zerocraft
Both teams will want to win this one. On paper, the penguins are the favourite with higher ranked aces and better depth than the Zerocraft team, who have lost key members over the last few weeks. That being said, i think the Zerocraft team could sneak out a victory, and they really need to if they want to secure their spot in the finals. A loss here by zerocraft and suddently Krrn and Co is back in the hunt for fourth spot - especially as zerocraft has TA next week.
As for the Penguins, this is the week the fairytale begins. In the movie, TA are the rich buff team full of jocks that should win the season. The penguins are the team thrown together, and after a few early setbacks (loss to QED Mixed Lollies) have come fighting back with a miracle chance to win the regular season. This is like the semi finals, where doubt starts creeping in about the team - and whether they can pull it together on the field will determine whether the story will be a classic or a tragedy and waste of a movie ticket. If they get through the semis, they face the big bad TA in the finals, and the cameras go into slow motion at every opportunity, with a come from behind 2-1 victory in the ace match after being 1-0 down to take the match 4-2. Cheering and tipping of water coolers ensues. Will this fairytale occur? who knows. but if it does, it begins with a victory over Zerocraft this week. A loss means they are pretty much assured between 2nd and 4th, but no higher.
I really didnt mean to type too much this week, as i am super busy. but then i realised, tier 5
Volition Out

I havent had much time to ladder lately, with work, kids, recovering from sickness and SEACL/Playwell Cup/Monobattles about to start....
I did play one a few weeks back, but they didnt seemed like they should be in platinum instead as they were losing most of their games and weren't really active till that day. I plan to reserve a day this weekend to ladder, as long as nothing comes up.
Awesome write up as always, I was so proud of my slugs. This week should be a great match, I dont really want HoH to lose, but of course dont want to lose either. So maybe a draw would be perfect.
In the movie, TA are the rich buff team full of jocks that should win the season.
From left to right...
TAChadMann, TAEaeron, TAEdarus, TAminimat, TARogue (gender change to fit script), TAMarineFifty.
How did you know!!
Awesome write up once again Volition! I think I speak for everyone in Tier 5 when saying thank you for your continued efforts and bringing more to Tier 5 than anyone could ask.

In set 2 of Penguins vs TA ace game; Marinefifty realises he is on the backfoot and resorts to the underhanded tactic of knocking MrCrow's coffee on his keyboard. Undeterred MrCrow decides to play set 3 with mouse only. Chariots of fire playing in the back ground; he does the unthinkable and opens evochamber first. Yes it's the infamous flying crane build but can he really pull it off? Surely it is pure lunacy.

Reason: clarity
Requesting Set 3 be played Friday 10pm - I know this is a bit late, but hopefully you can help us out. Been in Hong Kong for work and just got back today.
Quick Reminder for End of Season Prize
Quick reminder to the Captains - in my last write-up for the regular season I will be announcing the winner of the 1 month subscription to The Grandmaster Manual - and I have requested each of the team captains to submit to me a player that has been a star for them (not necessarily in games, or most improved) but just the player and the reasons why you think they should take home the prize.
I have received 1 entry so far from 1 team, and it was a good'un. So get your teams together (or dont if it is a dictatorship) and decide who should be submitted, and make sure you put the reasons down. There is no closing time, but if it is left too late, i cant promise you will get my full attention

Here is my small wrap up on my games of last night.
(May also seem like I am making excuses as well, But here we go .)
Before last nights match I played some quick matches, nothing serious with a few people.
Trying to get back into what had been like 4-5 days with doing ladder matches. (Sigh Tafe and just been tired.)
during these games I was missing even major things.. my timings were off not macroing and just not performing at a good standed. So going into these matches i was nervous to a point where i was pretty much shaking. Usually when i go into a match i am calm and just think of it as like a promotion game, The kind where you are rank 1 in the ladder and you know you are about to get promoted where every match counts. so usually not nervous at all. just play it out and what happened happens.
Game 1:
So nervous! go into this game just focused on getting my timings right. previous to the game i looked at some of benAD's builds and noticed it countered my build. however with game 1 I continued to do my standerd PvP build... a 5:30 4 gate. to push up his ramp and take the first game.
Game2: This is where I eased up a little.. but a little to much when I looked at BenAD's matches i saw he did a very strong aggression very early on. The problem for me was since I eased up a little i was tossing up the choice of 4 gating or proxy 2 gating. Here is where i messed up to start with. Moving my probe out of my base he gets ot the bottom of hte ramp and i then decided no to proxy to gate cause i am not a big fan of cheese in tournaments.so i pull my probe back and get my 9th pylon down like 10-15 seconds late -.-'
So from this i know my 4 gate build is going to fail so i go for more of a somewhat standardised play. and try and go for blink stalkers. This is a build i have rarely even tried.let alone practised in any shape or form. it came to the 6 min. mark and benAD was pushing up my ramp with that very strong aggression push just before my blink was finished if i remembered right. however something that i really did wrong this game was not getting my 2 gates down until i had 600 mins -.- WTF?!? i know. i know as soon as he came to my ramp it was over. I attempted to hold off with just probes however it was not enough. and went down in the second game.
Game 3 .. ....................................No comment. ..............................................
Dont take it too hard, they were very close games and I mean I died cause i missed a bloody forcefield slightly in game 1... I was about to get my immortals going to, had the resources but was too busy cleaning up my fail field lol. I really need more practice holding 4 gates! I should of had the immortal going sooner... And i should not of chrono'd out the zealot, that was me panicing!
In game two, it seems you just mind gamed yourself from watching the replay. I do that sometimes as well, go in thinking I'll do a build and change my mind and then you lose all your timings and end up with a build thats not quite optimised enough to live.
And game three, if you push up straight away I die. If you see that pylon I die. I was very lucky.
I definitely look forward to playing some more against you, there are some good protoss in Tier 5... We should all get together for a PvP mini tournament.. At least it would be quick :P
Awesome, we should do it, I need some good PvP practice! Its my weak match up. Once SEACL is done? Work out a format when we get numbers. But I'd be keen for a small number of players, so
a) we could all play each other
b) we could get a lot of them streamed
ur pvp tourny should have like a grp stage if u get good enough numbers thn u hv a winners and loser brackets. the only reason I suggest the WL brackets is cause it would let you more or less likely play with each other!

If there was ever a TvT tournament, it would have to be Bo1. TvT Bo3 (and multiple in a day) sound like my type of hell. the ZvZ tournament would be over within an hour.
But that really isnt a bad idea, why not have a tournament where only 1 race can enter. like although i am terran, i would probably join a PvP tournament... be interesting to see how people could go
omg we must be really struggling for ideas if we are truly considering a tournament of just pvp.

TCP v Krrn and co has been completed
the match in the spotlight was match one.
now to fully recount the round of matches
Volition time to eat your words
gg's go to krrn and co as they won a lot of the games, and played some pretty awesome games (the acematch was also very thrilling to watch), Fortunately my beloved comrades finally notched a win after 9 long long weeks.

BTW the table on the first post is wrong for the slugs and HoH.
Froggy mixed our team names up for the Round 8 thread when he did his fancy table, so before week 9s games the slugs should of been one one win and one draw, and HoH on two draws.
I might go through and double check all the results and get you a fixed table
If TCP needs someoen to fire them up each week for the rest of the season, telling them they are underdogs, i am happy to be that person!!!
It must have been a really good game. So congrats TCP, showing us what you're made of
I'm not sure if my comments came across the wrong way but i enjoy volitions weekly round up. What i said was to be taken as a joke and not seen as my placing him in the firing line or a personal attack.
Just thought id make that clear, incase it was taken to heart.

with the ZeroCraft v Perth Penguins game yet to be played.
No worries,
Mine agrees except that Tor are at 31/23 not 30/23 which seems right as they have to be on 54 points for/against after 9 matches.
Also interesting to see that Zero and Perth are equal on points for and against before their match this week! (And still equal if you take the games so far, as they are at 2-2)
