Well guys Season 2 has finally come round and I have extremely happy to announce the sponsorship of one of New Zealands leading ISP's Orcon!

When and Where will this tournament take place:

After what success we had with Season 1 of the NZ Starcraft Cup, we are going to keep the format the same as before over the course of 4-6 weeks taking place every Friday night.

When and Where:

The official kick off to this tournament will start:

Friday 9th of March: 9.30pm NZDT:

So turn up guys in the "NZ Cup" Channel at least 15 minutes before the games kick off just so we can get a good idea of what matches are to be played.

As some of you guys may not of heard, but our NZ StarCraft Cup Official Caster the amazing Mr.Flamga is heading over to England for a month in March. So we wish him all the best and hopefully he will bring back Spartaz all the English Football Kits .

How to Register:

To register in this tournament post your details in the following format:

Battlenet ID/CC: Spartaz, 780.
League/ Race: Platinum , Protoss .
Location: Auckland.

Once I have sorted out the groups. I will announce the confirmed groups for the Tournament on Febuary 24th.

Tournament Format:

• 32 Player Tournament:
• Starting off from the Group Stages where there will be 4 players per group and in those 8 groups 2 players will advance to the next round (Round 1)
• Round 2: This will be a Bo3 series of games with 8 matches being played and those 8 who win their series will advance to the Quater Finals
• Quater Finals (Round 3) will be a Bo5 Series:
• Semi Final (Round 4) will be played in a Bo7 Series
• Finally the Grand Finals of Season 2 of the New Zealand StarCraft Cup to take out the Title and the "Years worth of Internet provided by our amazing Sponsor Orcon!" will be played out in a Bo9 Series to determine who is the best in New Zealand and to take out the title!

yea i was going from the bad for me point of view. I like gsl antiguia pvz pvt pvp :P for that reason. Not playing for like the last week has dulled my game senses

Antiga is just a terrible map all around.

Brain dead map, no thought required into taking expansions.
Game shouldn't go past 3 bases, every P build I know of can't secure a 4th at the normal time because of how obtuse they are.
This leads to the usual herp-derp 3 base death pushes that 95% of P's do, after some huge 2base "timing" (read: all-in)

I think metal without gold bases is ok. Metal with gold bases is 100% loss for P in ZvP, unless Z chooses not to abuse the golds.

The problem with that is people generally have stuff on saturday and may have already rearranged things so they can play on that night such as myself so maybe for next time have a friday and saturday section where first in first serve can determine what day they wana play and can determine the pools too. My 2 cents

as an idea its good to split them up but i think people need the option to choose if you wana do it this time as its too close to the date

I will be unavaible to play on the saturday and sunday/week days I would want to end at a reasonable hour because of 9 o'clock classes.

move some of the plat/diamond/gold and silver players imo Spartaz, realistically they are not in it to win it, they are participating (well thats how I see myself in this tournament) and should consider the GM and M players who are also playing.

Not trying to be a dick, but I think its important for your tournament that the best players are going through from the groups, a silver player will just be eliminated straight away anyways and it seems a little wasteful for GM and M players to be missing out on the opportunity to win or do well because they are in a stacked group.

Lower level players may see this as unfair or harsh, but there are plenty of BSG and PD weekly tournaments they can do well in and we should be supporting our GM and M players and wanting them to do well and to have NZ Cup be a fierce and awesome competition filled with the best players and games we can offer!

My computer crashed when I was about to type "gg" and for some reason, after rebooting, internet was down and I couldn't log back on for about 10~15min. I txted Spartaz about it so I assume its okay but sorry to the viewers for seeing a very anti climatic ending.

New Zealand Cup Season 2 Finals:

Alright guys,

Some of you may of heard already I have been discussing it with some of the players and there is going to be a week break in between Round 4 and 5 (The Final Round of the New Zealand Cup)

So we are going to kick off again Friday the 13th of April: 8.30pm NZST with the Third Place playoffs bewteen:

- xGKingJazBas vs RsSPR - In a Bo7 Series starting on "GSL Daybreak" with map choices from Round 4's map pool:

Into our final series of the night to the epic conclusion of the Series of Season 2 of the competition.

- IrisAnother vs wTPetraeus :

Well with the finals being played the results are in:

In a convincing fixture RsSPR was taken out by xGKingJazBas for the Third place prize of $100 voucher from Orcon.

Then later on in the night, as Jamie (IrisAnother) ran as fast he could from work.

A tough really down to the wire series between IrisAnother and wTPetraeus

Where Another took out the series 5-3 gg wp all players, it was serious close series worth every minute of viewing.

So IrisAnother wins the title of the New Zealand Cup Season 2 taking out the amazing1 years worth of free internet sponsored by Orcon. Our amazing sponsors and partners, who have done a lot and contributed to eSports along with FutureBoy whoo has equally contributed to this amazing cause with his tireless energy and dedication.

Also a big shoutout to System who was with us from day one of this season to provide us with some awesome entertainment and good fun (And to Zain for his thoroughly enjoyable casting as well for the final series )

To now the future, in the next 2-3 weeks I will be posting an announcement thread about the future of the New Zealand StarCraft Cup Season 3 and the direction we will be heading in some very exciting stuff underdevelopment that can be sure
