I have ordered this already and is on the way to my place ( wish it would hurry up).Well my question to the sea community is are there any players here that already have it and are playing.
Secondly are you all on the same server, just wondering so i cqan mingle with playres in my timezone and that i know.
Also there is reports that bioware is seeking to open australian/sea servers in march, with the possiblity of free transfers- interpretated through management saying they are looking at ways to transfer players to the new servers.
lastly i also saw on a server spreadsheet the name terra australus, IS that our TA clan?
fyi im only gonna mess around on this server as i will be transfering to aust servers when available, unless my ping over there is good :P
I'm playing Empire on the "The Harbinger" server (Level 20-something Mercenary, pew pew!). I was told that it was an unofficial Oceanic realm, and so far it seems to be pretty active during our peak times.
What, there's a server called Terra Australus? Totally should of joined that one! Sadly it's not some server TA forced SWTOR creators to make, however I still think TA + sc2sea should all hit up that server and make it our own. :P
I'm not in a PvP world, but I know a few aussies are on the PvP server Swiftsure. I'm on some random server with no other aussies (that I know of) and it's still quite active around our peak times.

swiftsure is the unofficial aussie server, but they usually have 45 min+ waits. Mandalore is another good server for aussies as well, i think theres 10+ aussie guilds to chill with.
if you pick republic prepared to be outnumbered :/
on server hyperspace cannon theres a guild called terra australus just thought that was TA
anyway the game just arrived and as im new to mmo im nervousDX

Just make a character on every server. Then you can always play a server that doesn't have a queue.
I want to be interested in this game, but doesn't it just feel like playing WoW? and i played that for a very long time and am completely bored of that playstyle game. Does it actually offer something different/better other then a Star Wars theme.

I played one of the beta weekends, and in essence it's just a WoW clone.
However, there are a few things that are making me want to play it, rather than just reactivate my WoW account (god forbid)
The PvP seems reasonably balanced. WoW you were either crushing or being crushed; I never got that sense of futility in SWTOR PvP
You can get your characters to do boring repetitive shit like crafting and selling grey items
The whole 'everything is fully voiced' bit makes PvE *way* less monotonous, even for a PvP fiend like myself
The specialisation trees seem significantly more diverse than WoW, but I'll admit I haven't delved into that too far
Worth a try imo.

It feels like KOTOR crossed with WoW. Also, the starting abilities tend to be more interesting in TOR than WoW. Not sure how it holds up past about level 11 though.

WoW was reasonably diverse, but as any game progresses what appears to be diverse quickly falls into line as it is refined and shown to give the best result, leaving you back to cookie cutter builds, i feel this trend occurs in 99% of rpgs that allow 'customization' of a class as it levels.

as i have stated i have never played wowo mmo in general, though from what iv heard there is quite a detailed story line im more into this as a pve than a pvp. i ABSOLUTLEY loved starwars KOTOR but unfortunatley the scrapped that for the mmo beggars cant be choosers
EDIT: just installing now 3 dvd discs 19 GB of data O.O

The story is pretty good. I'm basically playing it as a single player game and just enjoying progressing the plot so far.

Just to expand on that a little: You have a "crew", one of which you can have running around fighting with you, and all of which you can send off to do your crafting etc. while you do other things. Very cool idea imo.

I'm playing on the swiftsure, level 33-ish Jedi Sentinel.
The craftin + Companion system is really nice, and PvE isnt as boring as alot of other MMO's.
So far the PvP needs some work, its waaaay too laggy. (Not just au to server ping either, its genuinly laggy and bioware admitted it), But apparently they're working on a fix for that, and they'll add bracketed PvP soon, when that happens i'll be tearing nerds apart.
Overall it feels much more like what you'd think an MMORPG would be, in the most basic sense, PvE feels alot like a single player game, with lots of other people to join up with ^_^
- The Harbinger is the "un-official" Oceanic PvE server
- Swiftsure is the"un-official" Oceanic PvP server
- The Harbinger is a little less populated in terms of queues etc. (which are rare on Harbinger now, as in 15 min max on saturday afternoon while the US is still up)
- There was a big effort to match Oceanic guilds pre-launch, and as such there is a really strong and faction distributed Aus population on Harbinger (and I assume Swiftsure but I'm not on it).
- Oceanic servers I "believe" have been confirmed
- Char transfers have NOT been confirmed, though the belief is that they are looking at it.
- March seems to be the time they have hinted at.
- Re: PvP vs. PvE server, it's like WoW in that PvE means you have to flag for world PvP outside the specific PvP zones. PvP means you can be griefed everywhere.
- PvE is awesome sauce. I've done most flashpoints, some of them on Hard Mode, and will be starting raiding with my guild tonight.
- Leveling, questing, and flashpoints all feel like part of an ongoing story that I'm immersed in, and I feel like my character has personality (and is someone I identify with). In other MMO's I often had no idea about the purpose or story behind what I was doing, and I usually didn't think of my character as anything more than an avatar with kewl looking gear and nice stats.
- Mechanics and stats are similar to WoW, with the Star- Warsy / KOTOR feel. Combat flows well, is well paced, and is just fun.
- PvP is actually really nice. It's hella fun and balanced around team combat (not 1v1) IMHO
- Warzones are well designed and massive fun. Teams and classes tend to be balanced so some epic battles are common.
- The variety of different warzones is good and keep things mixed up.
- Huttball rox!!!
- World PvP is a little hit and miss at the moment. Outlaws Den is often deserted at the moment, and Ilum has just seen a bit of an overhaul. Ilum does have awesome potential though, and is great fun when the 2 factions have even numbers.
