ACL Gold Coast League 1 - National Starcraft II Event
ACL Gold Coast is just around the corner. All of the qualifying rounds and competitions have been played and the final standings are in. For those new to the format, we have seen Regional live events right around Australia and an online competition to finalise these seedings for the Gold Coast. This will mark the culmination of the first 'League' and there will be 3 more Leagues before the end of the 2012 Pro Circuit. Moving forward there will be a change.....
Hey could you clarify something looking at the table it seems like the Online Round had equal weighting to the regionals e.g. Moonglade got 1500 Points 750 for 1st at Sydney Regional and 750 for Online Round 1
I was under the impression that the Online round only had 60% weighting e.g. 750x 0.6 = 450

Didn't the online round have 150% weighing if you didn't compete in the regionals? and 100% if you did.
thats correct but the Online points were apparently only 60% of that of a Regional (to encourage people to join and to reward that those that contribute to a pay to play event opposed to a free to join event)

This was only ever discussed with you personally Chris, not public knowledge. All our other comps use that kind of format, and the future online comps (as I posted above) will use 40% alotments per online round.

This is correct. All of these weighting changes were to accommodate you guys as players getting used to a new format with a VERY short lead time.
The new league competitions will have 3 online rounds weighted at 40%. FULL INFORMATION on the season's structure can be found at this link.
Please be aware that running a circuit takes an enormous amount of time, and starting this season has been a lot of hard work. I can only apologise once again for any confusion or misgivings in the last few hours
Guys, there has been a very unfortunate mistake made in the points calculations. I believe Adelaide players were promised a small percentage of extra points to compensate for their stacked Regionals competition. In the end, there were not many interstaters, so the number we have given them is still less than if interstate players did not attend their event.
Most notable change here is that Bielsko, an Adelaide player is now receiving 720 points (750 is what you get when you win) as opposed to 600 which he was awarded for placing 3rd behind two interstate players.
Please remember that ANYONE can enter this competition and win it.
I would remind everyone that competing in the Online round (which a lot of players chose not to) would have earned you extra points for this event. I must apologise profusely however, for missing this detail. I'm covering for Dox while he is far too busy with work. We believe that getting this information up ASAP was of paramount importance and this kind of error will not occur again.
Zealo - sorry, didn't realise that page still had that info. Perth was indeed cancelled due to lack of registrations. If we can build and reach the community there, future Leagues will have events without fail.
5pm is an estimated finish time. LAN events are notorious for finishing 1-2 hours behind schedule. Big announcement very very soon.

As of 28th Dec. 2011, 8 players will get a call up to a Pro seed.
The Open Bracket will be open for everyone to compete and try and gain a spot in the Pro Bracket.
- The top 16 will be pre-seeded even when invites are not accepted. Check back on this thread
regularly, as invites are confirmed, names will be changed to green. Use the points document
linked below to determine whether you may get a 'call up' to the PRO Bracket.
looks amazing! We have a place tgun - might be able to sleep on our couch ... depends if we can sneak u in or something, don't wanna get SQL in trouble coz the sponsors would get mad if we ahd to pay more than the budget X.X
Come on guys, get signing up!
It's the first National Event for the 2012 season! Remember, if you aren't seeded, there is still the Open Bracket to work your way through. Just means you get to play more games
Don't forget Virgin have an awesome sale on flights at the moment that finishes 6th January! You can get one way from Syd - Gold Coast for only $79 for example.
16 players are 'pre-seeded'. There are 30+ players registered. You will see confirmed players are highlighted in green. A number of players from the top 16 by points have not registered or confirmed. You will also see someone like Shockwave (below that 16 mark) is highlighted in green. He is an example of someone getting 'called up' to compete in that comp.
I'll make it clearer by including all players down the points list that are to be pre-seeded in coming days. All you need to do though, is look at who has registered and the points link.
Latest update, I've included EVERYONE getting a pro seed at the moment. There's a new number added on the left which is the seed for Gold Coast so far. If anyone who has a higher overall seed signs up, this will affect your 'GC seed'.
You can see everyone below the line was outside the overall top 16 but has been 'called up' based on various Pro players not signing up. Please let me know if there is anyone on this lost no longer in attendance. Thanks guys .
Again, anyone reading this for the first time, don't forget Open bracket is still available to sign up (breadfan, chadmann ?? ) and 8 players from the Open system will go through to Pro Bracket.
If I sign up.. tentatively - then decided not to play.. will that be an issue?
- I will be there as a spectator, regardless.. Just unsure if I want to spend the money to play.. XD
The same goes for me. I have put myself down but while normally I'd love to be playing, this event really has me excited to be a spectator

If you guys want to sign up, its entirely up to you. I'd recommend rocking up Saturday morning in readiness for the Open Bracket. Chad, it could pose a problem for people seeded below you (Elimzke) as whether you play or not will determine when he plays. Tbh, if I were a player I'd love to carve up the open bracket - so he may prefer that.

Yeah, si as long as Elimzke shows up regardless, if I'm there he plays thru open - If I don't show, he plays through Pro bracket...?...
Holy shit i'm so pumped for this. Staying with infeza, get to meet everybody, shake some hands, hug some manly men, drinking with TA. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
But also, if I sign up AND tgun sign's up and both of us are there, elimzke and Sensator would be the two sliding down to Open bracket?..
I'd say these guys would be wise showing up at 10am anyway...? I'm not sure what I'll be doing that day, but I hope to be able to play, regardless - I'll get there at some stage as a spectator..
Wow - some big name players late additions of Yang & Pinder. As previously mentioned then, Elimzke is definitely now open bracket. Just updated this page to reflect that: http://www.aclpro.com.au/forums/topi...35#entry212035
Zendex, yes unfortunately ACL is restricted to AU & NZ citizens, however you never know what 2013 will be like.

Anyone going to be getting there by train? Don't want to miss the start due to missing a bus or something so I was wondering if there is anyone catching a train to robina that gets there at 10:10 wants to split a taxi? Shouldn't be too much.
