Why don't we have any team leagues in SEA?

there are decent number of teams in SEA i think, and many of them are active, no one can organize a
team league?

Actually if you open your eyes you'll see that we're running right now BSGCL and PDCL. There is also TCL running.

Then, organizing a clan league requires time, organization, dedication and money.

If you have all that, you can start to think about a clan league.

There will be a new clan league system coming early 2012

Still have SEA teams playing in it

But yeah, team leagues are difficult to organize, that's why there were no SEACL season 2 yet.

to add to what froggy has said, its largely due to sponsorship issues, we have capable admins who have proven they can do a great job running tournaments and we have the clans and the demand for it. what we dont have however is the financial backing. with an amount of say $400 and seasl #2 can be done, maybe even less.

we are working on a new league for the new year, separated by divisions so hopefully that gets rid of the smurfing issue. im also thinking of having a "side FA Cup" tourney to run alongside it to make things interesting where all leagues will play against each other single elim style for all 32 teams. this will be in addition to the league where clans will get something for being champions of their respective divisions. kinda like EPL.

There's quite a few clan matches that go on. If you want a teamleague I'd recommend organising it yourself rather then just saying

Very little effort put into the OP. This thread could easily be asked on chatbox

There are a myriad of different things that support clan battles. There is the BSGCL and the PDCL which covers low level gamers. In additional sc2sea just added the clans section to your right that better allows teams to advertise their clan wars and leagues and such.

The problem you seem to have is there is not enough for you to do all the time or there is not enough for your level of play. If that is the case then you can start your own, be a baller and ,(if you are successful), get mega respect from the community. The most respected man in the BSG is Frogmite. Why? Mostly because he is a pimp but also because he had the balls to run the the BSGCL like a bouse.

If you need some help, here is a 4 step plan to get you started:

1) Plan well. Find a good date and time, set your audience (lvl of play, types of clans, ect...) and make sure that you have everything you need before you post anything.
2) Make sure people get on board with the action. Do everything you can to advertise and announce your tournament. When you start up, get people involved in the matches, even if they are knocked out. For example, try running a small betting system to get people to bet on the games. Not real money, just something to get people excited.
3) ???????????
4) Profit + Respect = Rofit and/or Prespect

Good luck mate. Hopefully you are more action less talk, I would love to see another baller on this scene.

actually, i have enough enthusiasm to do this kind of thing, but i dont have that much time, i have my own team to manage. just very disappointed that such a server(small tho) dont own a teamleague. my team ToT is participating a NA team league now, i think it would be interesting if SEA have one.
and ya,u can say there are lots of clan war, but it is not systemic, i have to say.
i know BSGCL and PDCL,but i mean a higher level league

So basically, you are complaining that sc2sea doesnt have a high level clan league, but then go on to say you dont have time to organise one. Instead of saying how "disappointed" you are, how about you encourage one of the ToT members to organise it on SEA? As you are someone who has their own team to manage, I am sure you can coerce someone to get it done.

I think your attitude is a bit raw to be honest. there are so many people on sc2sea that put in massive amounts of effort, to then see a post like this that is basically complaining about the 1 item that might be lacking presently. Instead of whining about the problem, how about you be part of the solution.

I think big teD would know whether TA is a clan or a team
There are plenty of good players not on TA but if they are together in a team is the thing, TA would have enough of a lineup of possibly 2 A teams depending on team sizes

TA certainly has the most stacked line up itll just be a matter of whether their players will be free to compete for them based on whether ViroL, Glock, Benji and/or Will require them to compete under their sponsor teams banner

EDIT: To the OP, ill repeat what others have said, if you want a Team league for the M/GM players dont point fingers, try to so something about it yourself (even a post saying youd like to do it but need help)

Frogmite, myself and some others have been talking about bringing back the clan league, but with divisions to seperate the stronger teams from the weaker ones but reward progress and the higher ranked teams as time goes on with anything from gear to cash. This is in alpha stages, keep an eye on this site early next year as we'll likely have something nutted out by then.

So baller!

But i would like to see just an OPEN Clan league where everyone can sign up and compete for the prize. Doesnt matter if alot of ppl feels that TA is too stacked, im sure theres other clans out there who would love to compete against them. Clans such as inFi, Mineski, aLt and TA would make things very interesting!

Well, I think you guys should give the guy a break though. I mean we all know what he meant since the beginning, just the way he expressed it wasn't that good... maybe it's just his English? I have no idea but seeing he's from ToT, it's possible =.=. He obviously means that there's a lack of competition for the higher league clans. Having friendly clan matches are completely different things so by saying that there are already clan wars happening is not an argument at all imo. I do agree that having a clan league for BSG and PD but not for masters or above is kinda strange. I personally did think about organizing one as well but other than putting the time forward, in the end, if there aren't any decent prizes then a lot of people would not participate.

It'd be cool to do one of those team leagues like WC3 where you just had 2 players per team to fill in the time as a league without prizes or with very minor prizes (just sc2sea achievements?). The way they worked was A v C, B v D, 2v2, A v D, B v C.

But are we talking team league for social clans only?
If i organize a team league thing there is absolutely going to be a little 2v2 action involved ^^

Iaguz from memory kinda left aLt when he joined xG something about not really seeing a difference between a clan and a team and thinking it was silly to be part of both (kinda agree with him there

Yeah Jaz, mafia and light were all ngen

its a funny grey area many clans are teams at the same time, it all depends on an individuals interpretation of where the line is drawn

To the OP - the problem is running such a structured team league similar to the Korean BW proleague system (with seasons, etc.) would require full participation and noshows would really hurt it. We've been spoiled with the first few team leagues having cash prizes and it would be hard with all the other tournaments happening in SEA to get players to show up with full strength teams each week for a coherent team league. There'd be no point if you can't bring out the top players most weeks and I'm not sure that the top players could commit to the time and effort a team league demands when they have prized tournaments to consider.

Running fully fledged team leagues without a prize, even if everyone turned up, would just cheapen any cash prize leagues of a similar format that may be planned in the future. Otherwise, the opposite effect would happen and the prizeless leagues would be much less exciting with a prized league around the corner.

But are we talking team league for social clans only?
If i organize a team league thing there is absolutely going to be a little 2v2 action involved ^^
Light, MaFia are TA now after nGen disbanded. JazBas went to inFi and iaguz left aLt and is unassociated with a "clan" as he doesn't really distinguish between clan and team and doesn't feel comfortable representing two organisations.

Hmmm... as the conversation progresses I shall add my thoughts:

Teamleagues are fun.
However they take a hell of alot of time, the prizes are negligable once split, and schedules and organisation is a nightmare.

Players like myself would find them fun, but at the same time only be able to spare the time to play consistently if there was high viewer numbers (sponsorship) or prizes larger then I can imagine existing for this. The amount of sitting around watching games and waiting to actually playing is pretty high.

Would be fun but You'd need a strict set of rules and loose time-rules to get it going. Aswell as managers/liasions with each team that would reliably organise their team or we'd end up with lots of forfeits and such. That being said if it's well organised I'd definitely give it the time of day.
