High guys, right now I'm using a random logitech notebook mouse and I'm thinking of getting a razer mouse for christmas. So what do u guys recommend?? looking for comfortable hand grip. I'm currently looking at the DeathAdder and Imperator. Cheers ^^
Make sure you test a mouse before you buy would be my advice. Unfortunately most places won't let you take them out of the case! So asking friends is nice. I am currently using the Tt black gaming mouse and am very happy with it. My mouse speed and accuracy is very strong of late. Adjustable weights good size and grip. The Tt sapphira just got released too and I'm excited to get my hands on one but as I haven't tested it yet can't comment!
If you like simplicity I'd recommend the Abyssus. It fits really nicely in your hand - no extra buttons or anything, not too big not too small. Looks good too..plain black with a blue light. Nice adjustable sensitivity underneath if you need it. Really can't think of any cons for this mouse unless you like your extra buttons.
If you just plan on playing RTS the important thing is finding a mouse that's comfortable to hold. You will adjust to the accuracy and sensitivity out of habit, so it's just the shape that will concern you.
If you're an FPS player on the other hand..
You have two options: A mouse with prediction and a mouse without prediction. Most pro FPS players (such as myself ) will go for an optical mouse (instead of laser mouse) without prediction to increase how exact the movement of the cursor is to your physical movement. Personally I turn prediction on though (Deathadder can turn it on and off) as it suits my play styles in my games.
I hope that helped. I use the 1st gen Razer Deathadder @ 900dpi 500Hz of polling. Won it at QuakeCon 2009 and it's still going strong now.

Just try them out and see what you like...I had a MX518 for many years in my FPS days, now using my G9x. I love the readily available DPI change and the customisable weights, outside of that it's not too fancy. I don't find mice to be as important as keyboards in terms of features. Anything that is high quality, the right DPI and feels comfortable in your hand will serve you well. Just make sure you test them out before you buy :P
Just try em out man. If you have some criteria's you follow then just shape it towards that. Like me I use around 1800 dpi and something like a Lachesis size fits me(medium sized I guess). So I just find something that has that criteria, like this DeathAdder I'm using now, the one that goes up too 3200 dpi or something like that, fits =)
i played for EXTORTiON and 403 in my CS:S days, and I played for 2g, in Quake Live. I played for WXG in ZDaemon, although they were an EU team so I don't really expect anyone to know them :P
edit: Mayo, I'm pretty sure I know you from CS:S o:!

I'm using a 1st generation Razer Diamonback Limited Plasma Blue that I've been using for like forever.
According to this mouse benchmarking link here, http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1265679 , this mouse performs pretty damn well. However it'll most likely not matter unless you're like a competitive RTS gamer.
Most importantly, I really like how this mouse feels when I'm using it for long periods of time, not just gaming. It fits the curve of my hand really well. When I first started using it, it took awhile trying to get used to having your whole palm rest on the back of the mouse, compared to the smaller cheaper mice which you can only use a "claw" grip.
Basically my advice is, if you spend alot of time on the computer doing work as well as gaming, get something which is ergonomic and you can live with in the long run And honestly the 2 million extra buttons don't really matter, because I only use the wheel, the 2 main ones and at best, the left thumb button on razer mice only when I'm gaming. The diamondback cost me 55-60 bucks back in the day, and it's f-awesome.
On the go, I have a Razer Orochi, its more a vanity thing because its about the coolest notebook bluetooth mouse you can get, and I really wanted the bluetooth mouse to use on the go without the hassle of wires. Battery life is pretty good too, and I use rechargeables. The Orochi was kinda costly though, >100 SGD
Anyhow, whatever you pick, I vouch for razer mice, they might cost a little more, but their build quality is awesome, at least for the older generation ones. Good luck and merry christmas

Life is short, why waste it on sleep.
- ms intellimouse 1.1a (with the side buttons, mice out of production though so could be difficult to find)
- steelseries xai/sensei (bit of a lottery with these, you either get a good one or you don't, also expensive)
- logitech g3 (may not be good for fps, mine was especially painful, perfect for sc2 though)
- logitech g9x (really expensive, but perfect for everything, grips pissed me off but)
larger sized mice:
- deathadder (sides feel like shit but this is one of the most solid mice on the market, massive trooper)
- intellimouse v3 (best gaming mouse you can buy on the cheap, doesn't have fancy dpi shit like others but that's easily averted)
- mx518/g500/whatever the new one is (logitech's funky shape, just as solid as deathadder)
- steelseries kinzu (it works just fine, but the shape is fkn awkward, so definitely not for everyone)
- razer imperator (razer's mx518 but better drivers basically, surface texture is nicer also)
experience recommending said mice:
- thousands of hours of my life wasted playing counter-strike and obsessing over little shit like mice
The Razer Deathadder was by far the most comfortable and responsive mouse I've used. Have tried a whole bunch including: Razer Abyssus and Lachesis and Logitech mx518 and g9x. The Deathadder was definately the best. Is all personal preference though.
Diamondback was like the best mouse I had. But settled for a Steelseries kinzu now, hangs on pretty well to my abuse and i can grip it comfortably.
As said many times, comfort is the most important thing, specs are usually standard across the board so you just have to know that you will be comfortable holding your mouse for long periods of time.
You need to decide whether you like a big or small mouse. And yes its a difference.
I went from the Tt Azurues which was a very basic but effective mouse - was a larger sized one.
Ive changed to the (smaller) Razer Abyssus and feel I probably now have much better control. Ive decided this simply from my zvz ling/baneling micro improvements. But my wrist is also now developing CTS :P. Might go back to the Azurues and see if there is a real correlation or not lol - maybe just improved over time

Like no one ever was
Dooo dooo dodo!
can I ask what are the extra button on the sides for??
well you can bind them to stuff, when i used to play Guild Wars Guild vs Guild battles or WOW raids and shit, I bound it to my ventrilo transmit key so I can free up all the extra key presses on my keyboard for actions and shit.
You can bind it to anything, really.
