To all you guys out there, I was curious as to what NZ is doing as to support eSports. I mean all there have been are a couple of tournaments here and there, but we could do so much more for eSports in New Zealand.
More LANS And NZ Tourneys . Most of the usual Aus/Singapore tourneys are too late for some of us ,Because they start at like 10PM And can sometimes last for a long time which is especially annoying if you have work in the morning .
Great idea
making this thread

I know exactly what you mean bro, Most of the Sc2sea tournaments when I use to compete more regularly in them were like extremely late because of AEST time. We really need to get something started i reckon ^^

Mmmhm. Exactly what I thought. I can't play PDCL because of this

We have a new distributor in NZ now and are looking to do some more there
We currently sponsor a gaming team (most of them are in NZ) playing games such as;
- CSS
- CS 1.6
- SC2
- DoTA
- Guitar Hero/marvel vs capcom/street fighter
We are looking to do a lot of stuff with Mid City net cafe and GIGA net cafe. All of our players play at GIGA net café.

But we really need to something more for the common/average/typical Sc2 players that are out there in NZ.
Because I know for a fact there is a lot of them out there, the only thing that they can really participate in is the events at Sc2sea and even then I know for a fact that it can be quite difficult for some of us to attend them, due to time restrictions.
Also maybe LAN's and that around other places in NZ. I mean the North Shore has multiple Net Cafes such as Caprica and YoYo. Which could be exceptional venues and would provide awesome entertainment, as I know a lot of Koreans around the Albany area that really play Sc ^^.
Just really need to think how we can kick off eSports more for NZ overall. We need to do more, just saying bro.
As much as id love more nz events we just arnt that big of a market when you consider how big we are and only auckland (sometimes) is worth it. and mayo i see no sc2 team there im sure there would be a few willing nz players keen to help remedy this :P

You never know Stallion. I reckon there is enough room to make this succesful. Huge potential I do believe ^^

Tt.GIGA Kowi, now will be MEKA.Tt Kowi.
@Spartaz, I'm not sure if you understood fully what I said.
I basically meant; This is what we do currently for NZ, we want to do more.
Well there is some interest at least it seems. Ive got my Clan commitments to see to in the upcoming weeks and also I have to send in my laptop to get the graphics card fixed. But after that I would consider giving up some of my time to dedicate to this cause. NZ eSports may have a chance of really kicking off, starting at Sc2sea.
Hm I personally can't think of anything else. I mean I'm trying to think of things that NZ'ers miss out on but there isn't much. Also, I think if we create to much NZ stuff it will be working against the sea community. An NZ cup is a great idea seeing as time difference can prevent us from entering many tournaments but aside from that... I would say start off with just one thing. We can always add more later on.
A Kiwi Kup would be Kool. Be sure to advertise it on gpforums.
I'd be happy to run this if you guys want to give me rough numbers on how many would play, when you'd want it and what kind of format you'd like to see (group stage, single elim, double elim, team matches, etc.)

I finally finished my uni degree so going to become active again!
I'm currently working at a netcafe and have plans to set up a barcraft in welly ( for any welly players interested, keep an eye out) as well as develop a better nz starcraft website.
I know - alot of talk but not much action, but I do plan to get involved as soon as things settle down for work and will try keep people informed
Also, a seed for NZ for SCII next year for WCG would be nice. I see countries like Japan, Slovenia(????????) and Romania getting a spot.. why not NZ..T_T

If someone could point out who to talk to about getting this up and running then I could get it started.
I've tried to have a look around with no success (Xlan didn't want to do a wcg qualifier for reasons that didn't make any sense to me)

Spartaz do you want to get in contact with deL about this? Seems like a pretty good offer.
Ill create a thread about the interest and that later on. For a NZ Cup or something later on tonight and see if we can make a go of it. We do have a lot of show of big support so should be good ^^
If there are no events in Christchurch then I can probably safely assume that there are none in little old Hastings Sometimes wish I was in Auckland as it it almost like living in the country where I am lol!
