I saw Meatex's MW3 thread so naturally i had to make a BF3 thread.

I bought BF3 for PC on Friday and so far i love it! If anyone else has it for PC hit me up on Origins (my id is 'LilHotWog') and we can have some games sometime. Playing BF3 alone is kind of hard because it's so team-oriented, so i'd love to play with some people over skype/ vent/ teamspeak or w/e.

good potential.. but still EA releasing broken games that are unfinished.. still heaps of bugs and glitches.. in a few months it will be an awesome game.. .just like BFBC2.. came out broken a ton.. ended up quite a decent game.

Trying to suss out the best place to buy a cheap (legit) CD key for when exams are over. So far this is the best I could find. It includes the soon to be released DLC for $56

I don't mean to turn this into a "bargain" thread but it's always nice to have easy access to the cheapest site to download a new PC title, so maybe you could update the OP with a site once I confirm either of these.

Also if we get enough people we can just create a platoon (if you haven't done so already) so that when someone's about to play they can quickly join in with the other SC2SEAers. I think that's how it works, didn't try out platoons in the beta.

I got the Limited Edition in JB-HI-FI for $78

It comes with the Back To Karkand expansion + an extra pistol + early access to the Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer demo which will be in January.

I haven't checked in many places for prices. If you end up buying it retail then JB is the way to go, it's $10+ more expensive in EB-games and other stores. You wouldn't find it much cheaper than $60 anyway.

Also, good idea, i'll make an SC2SEA Platoon so we jump in a game with each other straight away, and since there is squad chat there probably won't be much of a need for Skype/Vent/Teamspeak but we'll organize something. All we need is a badass name for the platoon ^_^

@supapower There are tonnes of Australian servers. All you have to do is go to "Server Browser" or "Server Filters" and then you can configure it to just come up with Oceania servers. It's great.

@Bendy I shall begin contemplating names for our epic team, platoon thingy!

For the sake of simplicity and ease of understanding, you can always just consider SC2SEA as the name.

Boring, yes, but it's very self-explanatory and you can be sure no one here will forget it.

Its a bit of a picky topic about releasing a game with bugs and shit.

Sure you can set a date for release, and decide your gonna get it out there on that date regardless of how you are going. If you do have some bugs and fixes that needs to be done that's fail on time management but its not too much of an issue, that's what patches are for.

But the point I was trying to make is that you can either release a game on a set date and make the players happy that its out, and sad that its buggy, or you can do a good 'ol blizzard trick and keep knocking the game release back and have unhappy people because of the wait, but have a good game play because of the no errors.

Its really just an issue about time management and other bumps along the way

In this case they had to hit the release to beat out MW3. If they released after MW3 they would have been boned.

Because if it wasn't you would have no reason to change to a different weapon later. Bit like why I avoid side specific weapons and go for class ones instead. I want to be able to use my unlocks on both teams.

Overall it's very good, by far the best FPS released in recent time - by far.

That in itself is however sad, as it's in a half-arsed unfinished state. Clearly it is not done, and was only released now to come out prior to MW3.

But that is the sad state of the FPS genre at the moment, everything is a shitty console port.

Origin sucks so much it's not funny... And EA's customer service sucks. There was once a time after BF3's release that people could get free keys by socially engineering the customer servicers and saying blahblahblah key didn't work blah blah blah.

Played the Beta heaps, bought the game, only played it once.
I'll play it once they fix everything. Don't like it when they don't finish games i'd rather wait months later with no bugs then to play it like it's on beta :S

Battlefield is a different sort of game to CoD. I know a lot of people who have tried to make the switch and just get frustrated with the style of play. It's a lot more deliberate compared with the twitch of CoD, but you do still have those moments of who can react faster. Plus tanks.

NOM, it's been running really stable for me for the last week. Haven't encountered a single bug (I encountered quite a few on the 360/PS3 betas).

Personally I feel BF3 is really frustrating if you don't have friends or people you know playing with you. As it is a team based game, seeing so many people play it as if it was CoD is really frustrating.

However the rare few times I have made a squad with RL mates and we have all been on voice chat it has been some of the most entertaining and enjoyable FPS play I have encountered. It makes such a difference working as a team and as a squad.

Unfortunately not many of my friends play that often (and nor do I). I only play now when my friends want to.
