What is it?
Think of it like a house, like the SlayerS house or the oGs-TL house. You have this small group of people practising together. So this is basically the same thing, just without the house. Just a small group of people gathered together, with something they want to focus on and the members could discuss with each other and the likes.
Great so how do I start?
There's 2 ways to start. One, you could join a group you think suits you which is being formed by PM-ing the initiator. Or two, you can start one yourself.
How do I start a group?
Just post on this thread about a group you want to start with info on the group, such as what league of players you're looking for, how to apply, how many members are you looking to have in the group and what you want the group to be.
And the beauty of it is that you can start just about any type of group. What do I mean by this? Well let's say you're a 1v1 Silver leaguer, and you want to have a group of other Silver leaguers who you want to practice with, you can start said group. Or you are someone that wants 2v2 partners for playing with you and as practice partners, you can start a group with 6 or 8 people and start 2v2-ing away. Or even a group that just wants to hang out, discuss about replays and watch streams together, I don't see why not.
Then isn't this basically forming a clan?
In a sense, this is a clan, but on a much smaller scale. Having just a group of as small as 6 people or as large as 15 people, with no real leader, just a group that discussed and have decided on a direction in terms of goals and routes for achieving said goal.
So why not just join a clan?
Well you could. But as stated above, this is slightly different from a clan. As I have not been a part of a clan or guild before, I can't really tell how it is but in this, there is no hierarchical structure, nor a fixed place of gathering such as a forum. The group just interacts with each other like a group of friends deciding they want to practice together. Also the level of commitment may vary from clans where in this, a group may want to have their members participate maybe just once a week or have members practicing together every night. This is where the discussion between members comes in.
What about Pracbud?
What about them? I think this is about the same, just that instead of having a channel where you could go to to find practice buddies, you find those guys here on the forum, and move along with the group of gathered people.
I'm in a clan. Can I still join?
I don't see a problem. If you could handle both then why not.
Chat channel?
There is none.
So how do I communicate with another group member?
Well ask your group members. If they decide to use windows live messenger, then its that. If they decide to use an in-game chat channel, then its that. If they decide to use IRC, then its that. Remember, your group decides, not me
Hey guys, I'm looking for a good team or even a good practice group at GM level. Currently I'm high masters but im currently being matched on ladder vs gms and beating most, but I feel to get to the next level I need to practice certain things and learn from playing some of the real pros in aus as I feel I can get to that level soon So yeah please hit me up for practice games or if teams wanna give me a go!

Top Master Toss here, anyone interested practice with me can PM me online iRLProannn.406 OR PM me on sc2sea. I wouldn't mind coaching gold-plat level players(have practice partners for you).

I don't visit sc2sea often so add me on real ID/MSN, mahrnhan@hotmail.com.
Anyone from high masters (last season) to GM would be fine.
Note : For those starting their own groups, do keep me informed and updated so that I can make the necessary changes on this post =D

Nope, no clan, in a clan(though I don't see why would you join when you're already in a group where you can practice easily), either way you can join =)
For anyone interested in joining the group that I'm starting, remember that you guys gotta send me a PM with some replays, 5 or more.
Also if anyone wants to start their own group like maybe some of you want a group for Bronze and Silver or only Diamonds, feel free to post over here with info about how to apply for the group and stuff.
I think some people are getting the wrong idea with this. We are not making a fixed practice group like having a specific playing time or the likes. The group I'm trying to start and the idea to this whole thing is to just gather a small group of people, then as a group decide where you want to go with the group, well most probably to improve together but the how will be determined together. Perhaps you guys want to just have a group of people you know you can rely on to practice with, or you just want a group of people you want to ask about replays with, anything at all, you guys can decide.
The group I'm starting is to just play 1v1s together with another group member obs-ing, get on skype to maybe watch replays and give feedback, or even watch streams or tournaments together while on skype to discuss.
Gonna edit my OP to give this clearer explanation.
Just to reiterate what MazEi has been saying:
He and myself were discussing this last night on SC2 and because we're both looking at joining a clan eventually, but do not wish to jump into the first clan that will accept us (due to wanting a clan that is suitable, not just an easy entry), we are trying to get together a group of people who are willing to spend nights together on skype discussing games and improvement. For example:
Player 1 and Player 2 play a game; Player 3 watches. The game finishes, Player 1, 2 and 3 discuss the game over skype and share any input/advice/feedback that they have.
By having around 9 people, we have the opportunity to have multiple games occuring at once, and have different people swapping around to play one another in the one night. This way we encounter a variety of opinions and any recurring themes that seem to be an issue with Player X's playstyle will be pointed out and can be noted by Player X in order to tweak that aspect of their gameplay.
So in short, it's a group of people who get together on skype, play games and discuss them. It's just a practice group that is working together to improve.
There is no chat channel; as we've said however many times, communication is via Skype as we want it to be more personal and efficient that ingame chat.
Skype sounds like a good idea, but whats with the exclusive bollocks? Could just as easy (if not easier) have an open practice lounge or something like that - something like that which doesn't involve commitment but rather ''We're here if you want to practice with a group of like minded individuals. Add us on skype we have events planned for x day at x time.'' But yeah just making suggestions - i love the idea guys.

Well you have pracbud for that, or just about any chat channel, or even any person in your SC2 friend list. The concept behind this is just having this closed group and improving together as this closed group.
hi! i'm a plat protoss, naviC.170
looking to maybe join your 1v1 group to practice with ")
Chuck a PM to mazei and he'll add you to the list; do you have skype and are you willing to play practice games as a group and discuss the event afterwards?
yeah i have skype, and i am looking to practice games as a group as well. i'm interested in joining this group to improve my game play so discussions and tips are all welcomed!

Definitely swing a PM to mazei then with all of your details, ID and code.
We'll hopefully get this started by the end of the week. Hopefully.
When i get home I'll PM you with replays, i have a bunch of practice partners from when i was bronze but they haven't improved anywhere near as much as me and now just ask for advice, so i need some people to practice with. Great initiative.
i really feel that joining a team/clan would really bring out some improvement. this groups idea is great. no chat channels tho?
Yeah, a clan is the best way to improve; this is a happy medium for those who do not want to just join the first clan they can get into, but in fact want to improve and join a clan that suits them.
As for no chat channel, the beauty of the concept is that it revolves around the upfront discussion between one another on skype; if we were to use a channel it would be to sort out calls for skype and then just have the rest of the discussion on there.

Hey, message me in game or check out http://nerve-gaming.enjin.com/home and make an application if you're interested can do the questions in game if you prefer that though.
Our roster is also on the website and we will be setting up training each night at around 9pm AEDT (don't have to attend each one, but should try make atleast 3 a week).
PickleWeasel, unless I'm mistaken, you're trying to start a clan right? If so then this isn't the place to post it, instead it should be on the Official looking for clan thread, which already has you're clan under "Clans who are currently recruiting". This thread is for people wanting to form small groups for practice and discussions =)
Could you give me some info at least? Like league and race?
ooo sorry about that,
Well I got starcraft at the start of season 3, I don't believe the league I'm in is a good representation on my skill ^_^ but I'm ranked 1 in silver.
Unfortunately the ladder locked before I was able to get into any better league but I've managed to win most of my games now that I'm versing mostly plat/gold players which is good enough for me.
Oh ya, & I'm a zerg
edit. cheers bjorn ^__^
hopefully I'll be able to get you some replays soon

Well like I said, I'm finalizing after season 4 starts for a more accurate decision. And also I think I did mention, if not I'll say it anyway, high Silvers and low Diamonds can also apply for my group, just need those replays for me to gauge.

Sure thing, though I will mention that I've only ever saved the games I've performed bad in.
I'm sure you can understand why I'd want to watch over those kinda games instead of the good ones ^__^ so if you could keep that in mind when you watch some.

Am kinda curious as to why are groups being started but none of them seem to ever get any people into the group, or at least I'm not updated about it =P
Maybe we're the only group that has a wide enough range of leagues that people actually want to join. For example Diamond players might not want to join a group while BSGers will, so we will have more players because the specific league we're targeting has more players who want to join.
