PD ClanLeague Season 1 SIGNUP

Since there has been some interest, I am going to ask for any clans that are interested in putting a team in for a P/D Clan League to list their clan name, and their rosters in this thread.

With regards to format: I would like to use the same format as the BSG clan league. Currently the GSTL style format is winning the poll in this thread (http://www.sc2sea.com/showthread.php?t=2149). So if you would like to vote for a format, you should do it there.

I have no idea whether games are likely to be cast or not. I will try and make sure that any casters out there know that they are welcome to cast if they contact the teams playing and make sure they are cool with it.

And if anyone is interested in helping to admin this event, it would be greatly appreciated. Please also express your interest in doing that in this thread.

PD ClanLeague Details

• GSTL All-Kill format, Bo7

• Tournament structure will involve a round-robin league stage and a playoff final stage
• Playdays will be negotiated between teams (ensure your players are free)
• Default time/day will be Thursdays at 8pm. If both captains would like, this can be changed on a per match basis.
• I have not yet organised any prizes. It is not the point of this competition. This may be updated at some point in the future.

Teams should have a minimum of 7 players (For fairness sake, a minimum of 3 platinum players of the 7 is requested. No maximum number of players, but if you have enough you should make 2 teams).
Please include the following information when your team is signing up:

Conditions of Participation

+ Show +

1. You must be ready to play your first game at the scheduled time. Not showing up or being later than 15 minutes will result in your forfeit.
2. You will save replays in case of disputes.
3. You agree to be patient and considerate should for the duration of the event should any unforeseen difficulties arise, and acknowledge that the supervising administrator designated to your bracket has full authority over decisions pertaining to the game and may enforce the rules at his or her discrepancy.
4. Tournament administrators are free to join any game that they see fit. You are not to refuse entry to a caster or commentator and failure to do so may result in disqualification.
5. You agree that by entering this tournament that you will not publicly slader or reproach any of the staff or sponsors associated with this tournament on any public medium.
6. There are to be no spectators of any kind except the aforementioned administrators and the casters.
7. You may not include players based outside of Southeast Asia or Oceania in your team unless an admin grants special consideration.
8. You must own your own legal copies of StarCraft II for the SEA server.

Misc. Rules / FAQ

1. If a player is promoted outside of Platinum or Diamond once the season starts they may continue to play until the end of the season. (If a team has a large roster, they may be requested to not use this player any more. This will be up to the discretion of the admins).
2. Maps will be sourced from the Battle.net ladder and competitive maps (ESL, MLG, GSL, etc.)
3. Teams failing to contact their opponent's manager or agree on a designated play time will be designated a time by an admin. Failure to show at this time will result in a forfeit.
4. So far the head admins are Erasmus#733 and Rizzisk#769 but more may be announced.
5. So far streaming of games is based on volunteers and not every round or match is guaranteed a stream.

I have no problem if your roster includes platinums who are not officially part of your (or any) clan... as long as they agree to play in this league and show up etc. it doesn't matter whether you officially have them or not.

I want to start it at the same time as the season 2 of BSG... syn told me he's expecting only 3 or so weeks between seasons, so rough starting date maybe first week of october. Hopefully will hit him up on skype.

Shocker, can you please specify who is captain of what team (or is their one captain for the whole thing). And can you also at least give the char id of the captains so that the opposing teams can at least get in contact with them (I grabbed yours from your profile, sCarLet).

If you want to edit in what league people are in, please do. It looks all nice in the team rosters to have the race and league icons there.

Also mad props to Rizzisk who has kindly offered to help me admin... (hint: it would be nice to have someone not in ToR to avoid any complaints of bias, as we would also both like to play, hence why we are trying to make sure this happens).

As for day, when I created this thread, there was 1 more vote for Friday (I have not checked to see if this has changed), and I'd voted for both but prefer Thursday they were effectively even. A lot of people like to go out and not sit home playing SC2 on Fridays.... even I do sometimes so I have said Thursday, but I am fine with teams playing at different times if both captains can agree.

I'll update the rules to say that if you want to play at a time when there are not any admins online that you should make sure that BOTH captains report the result to one of us (myself, Rizzisk, Stallion, sHockeR) and that replays are submitted.

didnt get in time to vote in the poll but wat about the proleague format (the current one without 2v2).

For those not familiar it is where the maps are set and each time chooses a player to play on that map (the other team dosent know their opponents choice). It then takes the shape of a best of X (usually 5 or 7) with different players on each map (for both teams) with the inability to choose a player that has already played. The exception to this is when teams are tied 2:2 3:3 where they may pick any palyer even if they have played previously (this is know as the ace match as usually u send ur best player)

advantages
-ensures against map imbalance as the map pool and order is know
-allows for maps that may be imbalanced for one race option but are very balanced for the other 2.
-prevents iloveoov syndromme where the team has one really good player who just dominates everyone (especially important in this sort of format as there is a skill cap)
-allows for multiple people to have a turn
-benifits teams that have balanced player base in terms of skill and race
-the absense of a single player will not weeken the results as it is determined by how u as a team perform rather than one individual.

Disadvantages
-some people find it boring playing the same maps
-disadvantages teams that are monoracial (maturity pls) i.e. 4 terrans and 1 protoss. thus one can predict with more accuracy the match up per map.

some else seperate from my other post is that in the rules u should be probly asked to set ur status to busy

also with regards to the maps probly should get someone to host them (iam willing to btw just tell me how, where to get etc) so that they are curent, well labeled and from a smalll pool of hosters. as the last thing we need is there be a disupte over which version/uploader of the map that will be used.

so for example the map used would be

mlg shattered temple hosted by malik
mlg tal darim hosted by malik
etc...

then say a whole other bunch could be hosted by someone else
mlg shakeuras plataeu by agentmapmaker
etc...

this could then be listed in the forums and people can easily predownload them before the match with certainty that this is the map version that they will be playing on also it prevents waiting around while people download maps etc.

edit: also probly should limit the map selection to that of the CURRENT map pool of established tournaments such as GSL/MLG as this removes alot of the argument that could occur over which maps are selected as well as ensure that maps of varying sizes are integrated into the map pool. This also builds on the post above (if it is implmented) that the map variability allows for more interesting gamese but also benifits a balanced team vs a team that dependent on their opener or an ace player as a balanced team will more likely be able to have players that will do well on that particular map.

Gofire.. sorry but I can't allow people masters on NA to sign up. It's very possible for their to be a bunch of masters on NA that just haven't laddered much on their SEA account.

As for format: I will keep with the poll for now and just do a GSTL format. I also feel the skill gap between plat/diamond is really not as big as BSG so any extra rules about sending out a certain number of plats or in a certain order are unnecessary. Depending on how well this guys, possibly try out a different format like that for season 2.

map pool will be discussed: possibly all MLG maps (prob. not GSL as there a lot of those maps many PD people will not have played on) or something to keep it simple and avoid issues with people not knowing versions. any further opinions are welcome.

Will rotate starting maps, and I don't want to allow repicking the same map (BSG last season must have had 50% of games on xel'naga or something...)

suggestion 1 maps choice

probly have a rotation of the starting maps and make it so that a map can only be played once in set.

if people also want it could be expanded so that u have a map pool of say 10 maps and then number them 1 to ten and then move by an odd number such as (2) e.g

week 1: maps palyed would be 1-7
week 2 : maps 3-9
week 3 : maps 5-10 + 1

though u dont have to follow the numbers strictly e.g. play 5 before 6 or 9 before 10 it would make it more interesting and force people to play on maps that they are not necessarily familar with as if u have a map pool with 7 familar maps and 3 unfamilar maps the unfamilar maps will not get played in this way it makes it a bit more interestring and fresh.

personally i think that map selection should be predetermined which makes u think harder about the player that u send out and at wat time in the match additionally it makes the games go quicker a u dont have to muck around figuring out wat map is being played a game can be set up and then all you have to do is invite the players.

- No race picking. If you want to Random then actually Random. Avoids teams preparing agaisnt protosss (like say, against TA) only to have them all pick Zerg.

- Make it clear no repeat maps are allowed.

Abyssal Shipyards doesn't exist was his point... but I think we are talking about abyssal caverns. And if you mean vertical spawns, the ESL version doesn't allow them. I don't believe close air is considered particularly imba on that map?

i saw shipyard and my brain filled in the rest any wat i meant was the antiga shipyards is a bad map with some positional imbalnces.

I imagine not people will have palyed much on either map... Trying to avoid using too many maps that aren't on ladder to avoid people having to practice too much specifically for them.

Already have testbug and Daybreak for maps that have never been on ladder... Anyone else dislike abyssal caverns this much?

already have 2 2 spawn position maps dual sight and abysal are alike in a hard to take third but esl doesnt allow close positions so they are almost the same map apart from esl abysal allows close air so no close spawn agrument first off. the next thing is as eramus says duel sight not on ladder map and we already have a few non ladder maps don't want people to have to practice lots of non ladder maps as most teams at this level arnt that serious (i could be wrong)

Siege tank at my main, hitting drones at your third for antiga shipyard in the even that it is close spawn, or siege tank at third hitting main... Makes it a very terran favour-ed map

You can also throw infested terrans across that gap.

Updated rosters... added Imperial, Ascension (im good friends with Pete aka Lilith from your clan, sup guys) and IGL.

Baka, Races would be good... Don't want race picking, so we want people to sign up with a race. Character code for captains is good. Basically if you don't provide one, we can't contact your captain if you don't show up in the channel when the games are suppsoed to be on (channel name forthcoming) so your opponents will get a walkover...
