You think you good in ZvP? Chances are, there is a specific map that you are totally getting destroyed on, and you don't even know about, because of overall confidence that you have when going into a game vs protoss.
Midway through s2, I developed an excel spreadsheet with statistics on win/loss ratio with breakdown by map and matchup. I did it to keep track of win/loss ratio (cuz blizz are dicks and hid it), and get some direction on what to improve in my quest for masters. I would like to share the form, it really helps to keep things organized, and for some will give jaw-dropping revelations on their real performance. It should not be used in isolation. I do strongly recommend to adjust your training routine based on information you get from replay analysis mainly.
You need to:
1) Have excel. Download attached file, clear my data, and fill it with yours. Make sure to keep accurate spelling of map name, result (Win/Loss, capital letters matter). If you put "XELNAGA" for one entry, don't write "XNC" for the other. Also, if you change map name in grey area, it will change everything else.
2) Manually (unfortunately) put in data on map, matchup and match results for every single game you've played.
3) Look at numbers and figure out specific matchups and maps you need to work on.
Completely opensource, feel free to do w/e you want with it, if you know your ways around excel. Well, if you do know your ways, you can prolly put together a better table anyway. Regardless, enjoy
Here is what I discovered yesterday when i updated it with my s3 stats:
In s3, I played a total of 74 games, won 31 and lost 43, with overall winrate at 41%. My PvZ winrate was pretty high, at 62%. PvP winrate 38%, PvT winrate 35%. Cool, so I looked some more.
I generally think I'm good at PvZ, 50/50 in PvT, and totally blow in PvP. I never thought to what extend, though. I play same build on all maps with slight adjustments. PvZ is forge-FE into all-air, PvT is DT into expo (or 1-base colossi if opp is gearing for marine-tank-banshee), and PvP 3-gate defensive into blink, zealot and archons. Cool, but not-so-obvious facts I found out:
-I faced 19 terrans, 23 zergs, and....rest protoss? WTF? 43% of my games in S3 were PvP's ^^
-I never won a single PvZ on Tal'Darim, despite crushing all XNC zergs. 0:3 for my TA PvZ record. Is it just a zerg map? Or I need some better strategy there?
-My PvP losses don't depend on map. I had roughly 1-2 wins on each map and 2-4 losses, except for Backwater, where I went 0:2. Guess I do suck after all.
-7 out of my 12 PvT losses were on Antiga. I watched the replays and discovered that out of 7 losses, 5 were to marine-SCV all-in. This is a fuckin all-in map for terrans for some reason. If I discard all-in losses in PvT, I'm at exactly 50% winrate (7:7)
-My best PvT map is BG, with a 2:0 record. I suck PvT on Shakuras, with 0:2.
-Other maps and matchups either don't have outliers, or are a good solid 50:50 record.
Just based on the observations above, I made a To-do list for the next few weeks:
-Focus on improving PvP. Download pro replays, watch some day9, go get shit on at TL forum, make clanmates roflroll me till I get better.
-Practice marine SCV all-in defense. Note to self - when playing on Antiga, 10x times alert to all-ins in PvT.
-Figure out why I can't beat zerg on Tal'Darim (all 3 games are long 30+min ^_^)
-Analyze my BG PvT's vs Shakuras PvT's and figure out what makes me win on backwater that I lack on Shakuras. If it is specific map constraints, then I should think of some more tricks for Shakuras PvT.

I'm going to use sc2gears when I have enough games to analyse and veto my 3 worst maps.
Unfortunately it doesn't have a Race/Map win loss section that I can find
I'm just wondering if it's best to veto maps or try to figure out how to play them better ....
