Hey guys I thought I would create a new thread for the memories of when this was released last year. Feel free to add your sc2 memories from when the game was released into here.
----------
I remember this day 1 year ago that it took 2 hours to install the game on my 2 year old laptop (at the time) and another hour to download the patch. My laptop sounded like a lawn mower when it was installing The game and it actually gave my partner a headache. Since then I have bought a faster new laptop specifically for the game and been obsessed with Starcraft since

Drop bears, gotta watch out for dem Drop Bears! - ToR!
when sc2 first came out and every patch for about 4 patches the game had some significant bug
A tools patch even totally broke the game on my alienware lappy
Also remember i was at a different place where the internet / blizzard net code was terrible and 70% of matches were unplayable
I remember when the first time i saw my brother brought back home SC2 box , and installing it to the computer , and for the whole month , i would wake earlier , so that i can play SC2 on my brother's computer before he woke up.
Yeah , we were sharing the first account.
I remember going home holding SC2 in my arms and rushing to get it installed even though I had a huge exam the day after! The patches took soooo frkin long. all my friends were calling me on and off if I've got it installed or not.
I remember being the worst player in my school, in bronze league winning with Marine and Medivacs and sometimes thors. GOOD TIMES! I remember getting to 140-63 Win Loss, back then in bronze, I was so happy with my win loss.... now I can't even see it
I remember queuing up for hours at Funan Mall on the day of release, just to be the first few to get the game. I remember rushing home to install and patch everything up.
I remember hopping on ladder immediately with zero knowledge of build orders and such - and somehow managed to win 2 out of 5 placements and got placed in silver.
I remember when i only did 1 base builds on Zerg , especially Baneling bust vs Terran on Steppes.
i remember having freelance jobs and just getting by, and saving money to buy my first copy. I remember discovering huskystarcraft and diggity and hearing the name Artosis mentioned. Which led me to finding out about gomtv. Tasteless mentioned Day9, and from Day9, I discovered TL. And then from TL and GOM, I found that SEA actually had casters and the first was to cast at GOM was Kelly. I got tired of the flak people were giving her, and decided that I would help her get a bit of media coverage. After that, been an active troll on sc2sea.com ever since! :P
Yesterday 1 year ago, I was at EB Starcraft II launch in Brisbane. and this day 1 year ago, I was frantically running from my place to the post office because I missed the delivery for my SCII, and my name was wrongly written on the stupid box. So I had to get evidence to get the postal service to release my game. Ahhhh.... The hell I went through to get my SCII.

I remember when my friend bought the game for me (I was not convinced to buy it at the time...was stuck on my ps3) and installed the game! Just the music in the menu felt nostalgic!
At the time, i remember when I could build rax before supply depot and reapers were OP *teary*
I was busy with uni graduation, so I missed the release. Then I got a job, and only this spring of 2011, when I moved with my gf closer to office so I could spend 10 mins walking, not 1,5 hours on the bus, I had time to play games. First thing I did - bought sc2
I didn't get in to SC2 until MLG Dallas, where I turned on the SC2 stream while Halo was down and fell in love. I got a hacked copy of BW to play a little bit and bought SC2 after a few more weeks.
In the time from when I bought SC2 to when I got it a pc able to run it, Cordance told me about this site on a stream and so I registered and spammed the chatbox talking to and meeting everyone. I think I got to #3 or so on most chatbox posts before upgrading my computer. :P
The last 7=8months have been great, making new friends on the game and this site, and watching huge tournaments, small tournaments and showmatches. I also joined a clan filled with a great group of people who I am now good friends with.
I remember when Starcraft (the original) was announced. I said, "What, so Blizzard are doing a sci-fi version of Warcraft? Sounds a bit gimmicky, I'm not sure it'll catch on."

Haha, did you ever see the beta shots of Starcraft? A lot of people agreed with you back then.
I remember waiting for the game to be released, so I basically bought a brand new computer just so I can enjoy the graphics of the game. When I got the game I was excited but the computer store that was building the machine didn't have it ready for another week. Seriously that was one of the longest weeks I have ever experienced.
I also remember having to stand by and watch all my friends play SC2 because my Dad wouldn't let me buy it until after the year of school was up. I did worse in school than this year and those 6 months of no SC2 killed me :'(
played at the funan event during the sg launch, got some nice freebies and did not need to queue!
back then 4 gate was the standard build to do, terrans didnt use medivacs much and zergs never spread their creep. was funny haha
I remember queueing (and cutting que) with my LAN shop owner friend at Funan and picked up 100+ copies of SC2. As we waited, we were QQing about the terrible protoss player on the big screen, against the equally terrible zerg player (iceiceice), acting all pro when in reality, we really didn't know what the heck we were talking about =P
I was playing Counter Strike 1.6 back then, and cod 4.
Then I bought sc2 and I was so bad at it at the start, not evne know wtf a build order is. I would stop making scvs after I trained like 9.
Then a cloacked banshee would fly into my base and I would only have 2 marines. But then I never got pissed and I learned about huskystarcraft's video about a terran standard opener and fom then on I just started playing normally. Then I learnt about Day9 and became a better gamer. Now im in mqaasters league dam sc2 has been a good friend
I remember playing a custom game as protoss against the AI, and made a void ray. They were so fking awesome and I just void ray rushed every ladder game and got thrown into silver. lol...
I remember when i first started playing (near the release date).. i didnt know AI hard-very hard-insane collect minerals faster then you.. i spent hours trying to copy their build second for second but never could.. so frustrated -_- (bronze). i was like wtf how they do that so fast.. and id be like.. i probably didnt make stuff fast enough and redo it all over again
When it first came out I was visiting my gf in brisbane and about to head to splendour in the grass (a 3 day music festival) as soon as that was over, picked up a copy of SC2 in brisbane, flew back to sydney, installed it and played for about 3-4 hours straight. Oh and no campaign crap i just jumped straight into 1v1's.
I had finally gotten into an endgame raiding guild on WoW after months of grinding the required ilvl.... SC2 got released and I never logged on to WoW again.
come to think of it.... i sorta miss it... now that i stopped sc2...
I had no idea what Starcraft was last september, I blindly bought it at EB games without any knowledge of the community and epicness that comes with the game. I ran home got it installed but my laptop couldn't run it.. =/ i had the game for about 5 months before i could play it on my new computer. I purchased Brood War as i couldn't handle lurking B.net forums for another month :/ Brood War is awesome, but my excitement playing sc2 for the first time after marvelling from the sidelines for half a year was the sweetest game experience ever.
I then proceeded to lose all my placements and join my pals in bronze
My flatmate brought the game at release, and kept pestering me to buy it. I didn't get it until we were at the very end of season 1 - and I proceeded to jump straight on the ladder.
My flatmate hadn't actually played multiplayer yet, so we spent a couple months playing 2v2's as a TT bronze team - we didn't realise how good stim was, and refused to use it because it took away health :P
I remember Kowi was telling me how he was having trouble with this Terran called RedArchon. My PvT was beastly back then so I was like look PvT is easy, ill show you! Then beat RedArchon 5-0 and sent kowi the reps, with a different build each game. Now its a different story though, i think i'm 2-18 vs redarchon in our last 20 games oh how the times they are a changing. FML!
back then 4 gate was the standard build to do, terrans didnt use medivacs much and zergs never spread their creep. was funny haha
I disagree, you were just cheesy, and the players you were playing sound terrible... -.-;;
But, i remember getting home from the snow at like 11:30pm and going down to the EB-games launch still wearing my ski pants i was in such a rush to pickup sc2 at launch, and then played through the entire campaign that night.

I did the entire single player campaign in a night / morning too, my gf and I stayed up till mid morning playing SC2 after midnight release (she works at EB games) and I took the next day off work with the intention to sleep, but instead slept for a few hours and spent all day doing 1v1s and 2v2s LOL
