In leadup to a proposed BSG team competition for SEA I am taking signups from BSG clans or existing clans that can produce an all-BSG roster. With the latest team tournaments taking the front stage on SC2SEA with their excitement and community atmosphere I'd like to bring this experience to lower league players without the daunting task of facing up to masters level players.

If you think your clan has what it takes and want to represent your team read on to see how to apply!

Information

• GSTL format (all-kill, 4 players)
• Length of the event will depend on the number of signups
• Tournament structure will involve a round-robin league stage and a playoff final stage
• Playdays will be negotiated between teams (ensure your players are free)
• If teams cannot agree on a time, default times will be set on weeknights or saturday by staff
• Prize: The winning team recieves a clan logo.

In addition, please include the following information for all the players on your roster.If you prefer, you can use the forum flag and race icons to post your roster and if you don't know some of the character codes you can sign the player up now without it and fill it in later. A roster must include between 5 and 12 players.

Please read the conditions below.

Conditions of Participation

+ Show +

1. You must be ready to play your first game at the scheduled time. Not showing up or being later than 15 minutes will result in your forfeit.
2. You will save replays in case of disputes.
3. You agree to be patient and considerate should for the duration of the event should any unforeseen difficulties arise, and acknowledge that the supervising administrator designated to your bracket has full authority over decisions pertaining to the game and may enforce the rules at his or her discrepancy.
4. Tournament administrators are free to join any game that they see fit. You are not to refuse entry to a caster or commentator and failure to do so may result in disqualification.
5. You agree that by entering this tournament that you will not publicly slader or reproach any of the staff or sponsors associated with this tournament on any public medium.
6. There are to be no spectators of any kind except the aforementioned administrators and the casters.
7. You may not include players based outside of Southeast Asia or Oceania in your team unless an admin grants special consideration.
8. You must own your own legal copies of StarCraft II for the SEA server.

Misc. Rules / FAQ

1. If a player is promoted outside of Bronze, Silver or Gold once the season starts they may continue to play until the end of the season.
2. Maps will be sourced from the Battle.net ladder and competitive maps (ESL, MLG, GSL, etc.)
3. Teams failing to contact their opponent's manager or agree on a designated play time will be designated a time by an admin. Failure to show at this time will result in a forfeit.
4. So far the head admins are Maynarde#489, ToRSynzita#319 and TAEdarus#427 but more may be announced.
5. So far streaming of games is based on volunteers and not every round or match is guaranteed a stream.
6. The prize is a clan logo thanks to Whipbot. Once the finalists are determined from league play it is the clan leader's responsibility to discuss creative decisions with myself or Whipbot regarding their possible clan logo.

Curious as to what you mean by this. As in you'll design a logo for the team?


edit: Guess I should read the FAQ, completely missed that. Good prize imo, incentive for the teams, but not cash or anything of the sort to tempt non BSG'ers to smurf.

For SoO I did in BW there was a rule where you couldn't submit the exact same lineup twice in a row so something like that will probably be implemented so more people get to play but without handicapping a team too severely for one arbitrary round.

That is just for the flag next to the team name, so if you don't have a set country of origin you can just say it's international.

If you have the numbers to completely fill two teams of 10 players you are welcome to do so, though obviously teams with only 1 representantive team will be favoured for inclusion over one that already has one team in it. What you can't do is make 2 teams of 5 players - you have to have one completely full team of 10 players before you can enter a B-Team or similar.

deL - If you have the numbers to completely fill two teams of 10 players you are welcome to do so, though obviously teams with only 1 representantive team will be favoured for inclusion over one that already has one team in it. 12 is a far cry from the 16/17 we'd need to scrape together a second team. You need at least 10 in your first team to make a second according to del.

I suspect the league won't go much longer than 5 weeks of round-robin + some playoffs, with much bigger squads you're going to have a bunch of players who only play one game.

You can swap inactives out if you include in your post a 'shadow team' of people who didn't quite make the cut, and they can act as replacements through the season if required.

Actually there are more signups than I thought, looking at 8+ teams so I will extend the maximum number of players per team to 12 to accommodate a potentially longer season!

Were there any more teams to attempt sign up? Otherwise I will start on the scheduling etc. as I don't think going over 8 teams would be ideal.

Usually I'd make this a round robin so that each team plays the other 7 once, but seeing BSG players are usually in the lower leagues because they don't have as much time to consistently play SC2 I was wondering what people would think about separating the teams into groups (randomised) of 4 each. This would mean 3 weeks of group stages, and then playoffs in an elimination bracket.

Looking to end the signups by Sunday the 24th of July and try get the event going from the 31st of July. I will post the main topic with information about the schedule and format between now and the 24th!

We will be split in to two equal groups, so groups of 5 or 6 depending on whether we get 1 more signup or more. If there's an odd number one group will have an extra team with a bye week involved.

Signups closed! I will post the thread with the groups soon. Clan LOS unfortunately misses out because the maximum number of teams was reached (12) before they completed their signup.

For those teams without all of their roster's battle.net codes updated you won't be disqualified for it but it's just riskier for you guys if an admin needs to find a player and they can't get in touch because of the lack of details. Not having the character codes updated risks walkovers and whatnot.

For the format I was thinking 2 groups of 6 randomly assigned teams (I may try balance out clan sizes, so one team isn't a group of clans with only 5 members and the other group has all 8+ member teams) will play off round-robin style before elimination playoffs with top4 from each group.

Play days will be assigned for each group on thursdays or fridays and team managers will be assisted in organising a time suitable for the two teams, and if the teams can't agree on a time on their designated day there will be the 'backup' playday on saturday afternoons.

Sound good? If you have some feedback about what days and times might be better or if there are any you 100% cannot make let me know ASAP.

Signups are closed now, but if this goes well then any new signups that missed out this season will probably replace the lowest ranked teams for the next season.
