So I recently came across this video

that explains a raffle that is being help with the the prize of return flights and accommodation to attend MLG Anaheim for Australians and New Zealanders.
It would be awesome to win and go over and watch some Sc2 action, and actually get to attend an MLG event for free. In the description is has a lot of links to follow including this thread http://www.aclpro.com.au/forums/topi...aheim-with-acl that explains the raffle a bit more.

Sorry if this is counted as advertising by forum rules, just thought some other Aussie/Kiwi gamers might want to see the video. Feel free to delete/move the thread also if its in the wrong section.

The reason why Im not interested:

1. Go to 1:43 mark in video
2. Try to find "starcraft 2" listed in ACL's event
3. Fail, as it isn't there

Sure, MLG has starcraft 2, but Im going to be supporting an esports company that doesn't have starcraft 2 in mind for their own events? This is a starcraft 2 forum.

Oh, and its 20 bucks, that'd be fine if I won, but 20 bucks to lose, along with what I said above? Doesn't make me too eager.

The production in the video was good though. LOL

I'm wanting to post a thread about a raffle I'm running for my organisation. It's a totally legitimate opportunity for ticket buyers to win a return flight from Aus/NZ to attend MLG Anaheim in the USA. Initially this was an incentive for my community over at ACLPro (www.aclpro.com.au) but ticket sales are supremely low and I am looking to be severely out of pocket. In a nutshell, the current odds to win are 1 in 20. That's insane for a $2000+ prize.

I thought this would just be a great opportunity for some of your users as SC2 is massive at MLG these days. I just wanted to show you the courtesy of requesting permission prior to seemingly just 'advertising' on your site.

I'm the mope in the video, so mock all you like - but this competition is real, and I thought there would be some kind of appreciated value in it for the community here. As I mention above, this was initially an idea for my own console based community, but the offer has been extended far and wide.

Also, for your interest - we ran an SC2 demo station at our last event, and have a keen following for the game on our own boards. I can tell you while console is where our expertise is at this point, that Starcraft is something being watched with much interest.

In all seriousness, as a community we are very happy to support events and companies that are interested and actively participating in the sc2 community. Posting your video here is good to get some exposure, but keep in mind few of us will be reluctant to buy tickets. Perhaps the lack of interest in the console community is simply because the console community is weaker than the PC market at the moment (MLG viewer numbers will back this up )

Also, the fact that you're hosting a LAN without SC2 and posting on an sc2 forum is pretty much a bait for trolling. Especially considering you're only offering console games at this lan. I gaurantee if you made 2 posts, one here and one on Team Liquid.. you'd have a lot of interest (especially in sydney) and you'd find that sc2 would be a naturally successful addition to your line-up of games. That is just how our community works.

Also, Halo and COD:BO as competitive e-sports is a joke, right? I was watching the MLG Halo stream (waiting for SC2 to start) and flicked to COD:BO in the down-time and honestly, any pub hero could be good at those games.

However, I'm not without praise either. Thank-you for providing the community with an event like this, I hope that you get some footage of SSFIV and SSBM .. Love to watch me some fighting games ^_^

This part I completely disagree with, for Halo moreso than CoD - (whoever shoots first wins amirite?). Loads of people with this attitude come into the competitive scene and fail, hard.

Admittedly it doesn't take the mental capacity to be amazing, where SC2 clearly involves a lot more STRATEGY (derp). But yeah, there's a lot more to console shooters that the PC community usually give them credit for.

I'm confused... All I know is that some people I know will be competing so it'd be great to go there. Although any raffle ticket that costs $200 seems stupid to me...
