Been looking forward to this since last October.
How much would it cost to be able to have this giant metal eating thing gobbling up a skyscraper like the big bad wolf? That is so badass. Om nom nom nom nom nom

If only MB could actually make a good movie about his subject matter rather than making an average a best story from a formula that has his subject matter in it. As depressing as it is to go back and watch the cartoons compared to how awesome I remembered them as a kid. They are still better than the movies. Half the action in TF dont even have TF in them or they are the background to the guys in American uniforms.
It's better than no Transformers movie at all, no?
There was a transformer movie it was animated and you know the big bad evil guy didnt have a hole in his chest that you could insert self destruct devices into and the result was something that shook the foundations of the reality of many children who got to see it. I know Im older than a lot of people around these parts so I have strange views, but Im not convinced that paying money to watch the movie is better than it never being created.
A movie with big space robots fighting it out over values of "We should rule because we are powerful" vs "Everyone has the right to chose". Should not be based around a boy trying to get his freak on. With world ending battles as a background.
How ever I have recently come to the realization that expecting more from the medium of movies will often leave me very disappointed. It seems the better special effects become the less most creators put into the substance of the production.
You know very well I was talking live-action, not a cartoon. To be honest, I think it's a sheer treat that we actually get to see these cartoons brought to life in such glory. It's not like the Transformers movies are as awful and misshapen as the Dragon Ball movie released two years ago.

Seems more like your expectations are unrealistically high to begin with! Once upon a time people enjoyed watching a movie for 90 minutes of mindless entertainment. Now they expect every film to be some mindblowing experience. I mean, who are you kidding? You're talking about a film based on a kids cartoon from the 80's. How much depth can you possibly expect?
The CGI of the actual transformers is great, wonderful, well done. Much like Jarjar binks. There is another comparison I can make between the transformers and Jarjar ... they where failed by script writing/direction.
There was a compition to write a line in the first transformer movie. The winers line was "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." if you go back and watch TF1 and find the time when it was used. Then continue watching the movie and consider if there was any other places such a line might have been used for more impact or dramatic effect. One that made you feel that Freedom is something worth fighting for. The problem the of this style of movie creation is that they separate action from story rather than using action to enhance story, they often use story just to create set pieces for action.
I look at MB as the 4 gating movie maker he has one trick and has not expanded beyond it. He fails to create anything with any substance in defiance of his subject matter. The TF did have the potential to be a movie with meaning and a moral it was an 80s cartoon they all had this build into them alongside buy our toys. However did anyone take anything away from the TF movies that felt meaningful at all other than damn CGI can do amazing things for hot girls. Sometimes I really wonder if movie makers make a movie then re script it just to see how bad they can make a movie and still turn a profit on it.

Best analogy ever.
I was never huge on these movies, just not for me I guess. Which is kinda weird, since if there is one thing that I love, it's huge ass robots fighting each other. I'm sure I'll still end up seeing the new one though, hopefully I enjoy it more than the others
Megan fox is more plastic than human, she's not even a 10 anymore. Although i don't really like her myself it is a epic phail for the movies not to finish with Megan Fox
EDIT. Typo

The second one was terrible, who's idea was it to put human drama in a movie about robots fighting?
although the transformers was not my generation (that was pokemon) I'm pretty sure it had more depth in it, wither that or it was just an extended commerical for the toys.
Also MB's versions just serve as a reminder of how useless we are in the face of greater beings so ^^
