thanks sorry, as we're not getting any funding at all , and we've got 3 games more to cover ontop of SC2, we would like to give you guys more cash but we can't ):
Nice to see this get off the ground, finally! Good job to Donald and Colbat!! I know the difficulties of putting this together.
Big propz to them as they are organizing what they hope to be a true league style play for local Singaporeans, which will included LoL and Blackshot. Do support them cause if it works, they plan to run this for 3rd and 4th quarter of this year as well
lol hi from you 2 sorry DeL , as i mentioned before we do have alot of games to settle in these 3 months and here we've got lots of school work(sadly), but yea i hope they dont drop out half way haha
And yes ! we are organising a series of leagues and qualifiers for all the games in the future
colbat, do you mind posting the registration details needed so that some of us can help our friends register together? so there won't need to be a wasted trip
As this is a open league, we're not doing any tracking to prevent smurfing as there is no need to we don't really require your particulars ( as far as i know ) just your name and user as well as the registration fee.
If you cant come down, yes get a friend to do it for you why not.
For registration online, we've got no definite way to collect the registration fee so i'm really sorry about that ):
Kiwi, chill out. Just remember Colbat is a FPS player first, SC2 player 2nd. He's not super current on SC2 tournament details. The map pool will be changed to something more tournament standard.
Good luck everyone and looking forward to seeing all of you again at Colo ^_^
LOL , totally agree blackshot's map pool. But yea as i said the pool can change just got back from studies to help out with events again sorry if you hate the map pool.
The maps were taken from the blizz map list D:
If you have suggestions i'm open to them ~
Dunnoe, considering its such a big tournament and all, maybe you should consult some of the sc2sea admins here, or do some general research on tournaments hosted on sc2sea.com and other major gaming events such as GSL and DreamHack etc.
But to start things off, get rid of those 3 maps and I will assure u that the quality of the event you are trying to organise will improve by leaps and bounds. If you want to fine tune your map pool, i cant help you there. I only heard that there are some currently in-use tournament maps that are not too balanced for some match-ups, but not too sure.
Would be good if there's more info about the most recent/upcoming qualifier like Players registered, start time for qualifier, channel to join, when the brackets will be announced, etc etc etc. Thanks. (:

I'm dodging the qualifiers you are in. Unless you join them all
Qualifier 1 : 1st May
Qualifier 2 : 1st June
Qualifier 3 : 1st July
Finals : 31st July
QUALIFIERS-
- All players must be online every Sunday to complete their required games.
- Maps to be played for the week will be released for that week itself, Check back constantly to receive an update for the maps.
- Players must PM an admin latest by 6.30pm for that particular Sunday
Hi there,
My 1st post in this forum. A note to point out, 1st June & 1st July does not fall on a Sunday.
I hope all the qns (include map pool) can be confirmed before the 1st qualifiers since 1st May is < 1week away.
it will be out on the first. As stated if you cant come online during the following times, you are allowed to reorganize your matches to a different time.
Hmm im quite confused by the conflicting details being given.
First post states ' Brackets will be drawn up 3 days before the next qualifier at 2400 hrs'
whereas the subsequent post states 'Brackets are randomly generated and will be posted up by 6:25p.m. +8 GMT'
so when would the bracket be posted?
I think allowing players to reorganise their games on a different day/time would cause really bad snowballing/admin problems. Eg say a player postpone his first game to another day, the whole half of the bracket would practically be waiting for that guy. RO64 guy cant proceed until his opp has complete his game and the other RO32 etc cant proceed cause the winner of RO64 is not determined. Just feel its better if there was a fixed staggered timings like GPD open where everyone starts at the same time. There would be little - no snowballing this way ^^
crevasse
crossfire se
shakuras plateau
taldarim altar
xelnaga caverns
metalopolis
terminus RE
should be quite okay i think, allow 1-2 vetos i guess? depending on whether BO5/3 etc. then loser pick, very standard. and just pick a map each round to start the games with.
well, just my 2 cents.

Rev : We've decided not to give out the list of who's joining the qualifiers. You'll only get to see who you're playing against on the day the brackets are drawn out.
after the 1st qualifier has started, you can then register for the next. Which in this case, 8th of may would be when you can no longer register for the 1st but you'll now register for the 2nd
Hi colbat, I've registered last sunday but I cant make it to this sunday's qualifier, is it possible that I reschedule my qualifier to the one on 1st June? Thanks
We are pushing back the qualifiers to June and are setting it to be on LAN
The finals will be played at LAN as well, and will be in July.
This is to synchronize with the other games running in SCEL, such as Blackshot and League of Legends.
For those that have already or are going to sign up, someone will call you up 2 weeks before hand to remind you of the Qualifiers. So that you no longer need to constantly check back here.
Updates on Qualifier Dates as well as the FINALS will be updated soon
Well colbat its good that you are finally setting it to be lan and BO3. Since having to pay 10 bucks for an online qualifier at BO1 really wouldn't draw people.
However changing plans at the last minute isn't something I'm kinda fond of, please at least announce your intentions since I was stuck at home waiting and waiting for the competition to commence, seeing the brackets come out only to have the date changed again..
Just my two cents, but I feel that if each qualifier costs $10(irregardless of whether you've joined a previous one, or not) then you should make it double elimination so that people are actually playing for their money's worth and sometimes not get eliminated due to unlucky brackets.
Well... that's disappointing... I just talked to Donald today thou and it was still in discussion? Kenneth, did you confirm with Donald about this? Cause I just spoke to him like 4 hours ago
I'm extremely disappointed upon hearing the cancellation of this tournament. Initially I was really upbeat about this tournament, and really glad that Colosseum, one of the best lanshops in Singapore are supportive of this great game and it's community. Sadly, from postponing, to even cancellation, and even joseph trying to lend a hand, it all boils down to nothing.
If you think that the Singapore SC2 community are not interested in the tournament, I can tell you this - You are wrong. You should have done a more proper planning, perhaps seeking advice from the more experienced people who've hosted tournaments such as HD (SSL) and myself (Epic tournament). I understand the organizer's need to see a tournament being filled up, to justify it's prize money and products. If you had tried to reach out to more gamers through more channels, or approached some of the clans and groups around in SC2sea, you would see more signups.
I'm really disappointed.

i was...gonna register..lol. anyway, i think u will get a better response if we can register online&make payment online for the online qualifier without having to ask a friend to go up there to help us register.
I understand your anger and frustration but i don't think that anyone has mentioned that the community for SG SC2 is bad in anyway. In fact it definetly is much better then 1 of the games imo, in terms of how friendly they are and how enthusiastic.
Yes there were previous compe's that i've helped out in and they've got really awesome sign up's even though it's only been given 1 week for people to sign up. eg: the 2v2 compe and 1v1 Gold and lower leagues last year.
But for this time round, the management has decided that they would like to focus on the other games such as LoL and Blackshot, although not great games imo (esp BlackShot).
As to answer part 2 of your question- "why didn't we consult with HD or you"
I believe that HD has spoken to Donald on several occasions and have talked about alot of things, such as the mechanics and dates and formats. But as to what happened, i've yet to talk to either of them.
In terms of planning, no offense but i'm quite sure HD is more then experienced enough to help Donald out. And as to why you are no longer in EPIC committee or any other organizing committee speaks alot for itself.
As for the future competitions, i would as much as HD, voice out your feedback and comments and hopefully the next time round we would not only be able to get a larger prize pool but more participants as well.
@ProTimber : For the online payment, sadly, the SCEL site is yet to be up so having online payment is not implemented yet.
HOWEVER, the LAN compe(s) coming up towards the end of the year should allow you to pay for them online.
I hope that this would not deter the community from joining future SG LAN competitions.
