Its been a while cause my business has really been keeping me busy. I had an interesting meeting this morning and my company wishes to finally make the move to Facebook. I've been charged with setting it up so the page is already made (nothing on that quite yet)
I need 100 LIKES to be able to register a formal name for this Facebook page so here's the deal.
Mothership Studios will organize a $250 tournament around mid-May to late-May (not the MSS Open, this is a new tournament) if I can get 100 Likes before I have to meet my boss again this Thursday morning. (I know, shameless plug for my business)
Deal?
******* Additional info: Type: Online
No. of players: 128
League requirement: Diamond+
Server: SEA
Prize allocation: $150,$75,$25
Date/Time: TBA
Alright, back to work
*As requested, some info about FC*
I serve as the personal assistant to the CEO for Farmers Choice, so I follow him on our various trips. I also head our research department, and am the technical voice in corporate meetings.
Farmers Choice is a Singapore based company, dealing in agricultural biotech products, such as foliar sprays, polymer-coated granular fertilizers and solutions for various fungi and bacteria based crop illnesses. We also do consultancy to various plantations in coconut and palm oil to various firms. Our clients are mainly large MNCs or government-backed corporates, with clients in Thailand, Taiwan, China, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Our vision and mission is to improve the livelihood of farmers through cheaper, more efficient systems and fertilizers as well as more environmentally friendly pest and disease control
I should be uploading more photos and updating the discussion board with information about our various products if you're interested, so check back on Thurs.
Here's another like. Not that I dislike the mindless fb love but can you tell us something about your company, either in this topic or on the page?
I wrote a bit about FC above. I will of course be fleshing out the FB page so check back on Thurs because it should be partly completed by then, so I can show my boss =)
You mentioned your company deals with Palm Oil plantations, providing consultancy to them.
Does the compnay you represent do anything to stop ( or consult towards ) the eradication of natural orangutan habitat?
Not trying to be pessimistic here, I just used to work for the Wilderness Society and I've seen what the Palm Oil industry is doing to the Orangutans. Not pretty.
Anywho +1

@Ridi: Technically, we're indirectly helping the situation. Currently the majority of the most efficient palms grow on mineral soil on Sumatra and not on the peat soil of Kalimantan (monkey land). We're working to increase the yields of existing plantations so new forests don't have to be chopped down for new plantations. We're working the angle of yield increase over planting because planting new ones is both very expensive and a palm tree takes 5 years to full maturity (i.e. long times before you get your $$$ back)
We're currently working on a 12,000 hectare trial, which is estimated to increase their yields by at least 35%. What that means is the big corp would not have to cut down a rainforest the size of 4,000 football fields to get the same increase in profits. It's cheaper, faster and more environmentally friendly. So, yes we are doing our part.
On the flip side, orangutans do what they normally do and eat the fruits of the palm, which does significant economic damage. So unless the world suddenly finds a new energy source that is more bioefficient and easy to grow as palm (it leads any other biodiesel crop by at least 100%), the rainforest cutting and monkey slaying will continue... Such is life...

That's what my friend told me. He's done it before so I just took his advice. My boss was actually surprised we got so many likes in 2 days. I didn't tell him where I got the likes from thou.. He'll probably frown me out of his office!!
