For anybody who was not already aware we have a more detailed explanation of Starcraft 2 Rules and Regulations from map pool to structure to point allocation here: http://www.aclpro.com.au/procircuit/sc2-structure-2013
As you can see we are mixing things up for ACL Melbourne trying to find the best structure for Starcraft 2.
i think making 6 player groups with only 2 advancing is bad, especially seeing how stacked some groups were (kingkong iaguz deth mafia for example).
the system that iem uses seems superior (6 player groups, 1st player in ro8, 2/3 in ro12, no LB)
makes for a more exiting final, should be about the same time used because no LB and is more forgiving in the group stage rather than in the final 8 (how it should be imo)
too bad this collides heavily with ti3, will tune in some time for sure!
Open Bracket
All competitors who do not make Pro Status (explained below) enter into the open bracket. The open bracket consists of four double elimination brackets run simultaneously. Each bracket will be played until all but one competitor has been knocked out with the top two from each bracket advancing to Pool Play. Competitors are split into one of four brackets based on their seeding. Top eight seeding will be determined by position finished in bracket followed by map ratio and further comparisons if necessary.
Seeding is based on Online Round 3 and 4 for Season 2 and anybody who did not receive points in either of those rounds will be randomly seeded among other competitors on 0 points.
