i couldn't get into hellsing ultimate at all... while technically superior in a lot of ways, it just lost all of the character and just "cool" of the original. Felt like watching a pretty replica with no soul at all.

I felt sought of the same but I liked the first one so much I could see through it and just enjoyed seeing it again I guess the huge wait between episodes also I think gave you a placebo that it was awesome each time an episode came out.

maybe... i remember being kinda excited when the first one came out a few years ago and then being a little disappointed, rewatching the first again cause it made me want to then just forgetting about it...
in other news, pezz convinced me to download katanagatari... haven't watched anything much for a few years.
I've finished reading & watching quite a few manga/anime in the past few months and I've also re-watched quite a few things too.
The most recent things I've watched & read are:
- Sword Art Online (really enjoyed it)
- Naruto (up to date)
- One Piece (not up to date yet)
- Fairy Tail (just started)
- Bleach
- Death Note (watched both the anime & live action)
- Plus a lot of shoujo stuff
I've watched all the old animes at least twice already like Rurouni Kenshin, Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha etc and I'm planning to watch/read >> Gantz << which seems like a really interesting story.
If anyone has any other anime/manga they recommend please let me know.

Yes! I am also going HotS launch and SuperNova, also I am bring two mates tonight who love anime too!
Sick, will probs see you at all of those events!
Alright, I'm back in Melbourne in a regular routine. Finally gonna start the anime club that we were talking about before.
First show will be my choice, and it's gonna be Haiyore! Nyaruko-san. I always wanted to watch it as it came out, but never got around to it. How it works is that we'll watch four episodes per week and just discuss what we think. A bit of directed discussion is always fun ^o^. Make sure to spoiler tag anything.
So we should be finish this in three weeks, then someone else picks next show.
Leave a comment on this post if you're interested.
edit: One week will generally go from Monday - Monday, we'll just start this one a bit earlier if anyone wants to
I agree with this list (apart from Elfen Lied, although it's still a good entry level show).
Quote:
and yeah all the < 30 ep ones imo are way better than those long series TT;
Any show that is not split into seasons (excluding movies and OVAs) isn't worth watching,
because imo a good story should at least have a satisfying ending that doesn't take 100-200 episodes of filler to get to.
I would also add: Spice and Wolf Amagami SS and SS+ Ghost in the Shell
(These along with Clannad and Steins;Gate complete my personal top 5)
I'm interested and would participate. Just one suggestion:
maybe each person puts up a list of 3 shows and everyone else votes on which one we will watch. Just so that we can try to avoid people re-watching shows or watching shows that aren't really interesting or worth discussing.
Only reason I thought of this is because I've seen Haiyore! Nyaruko-san and since it's such a light-hearted comedy, there isn't a lot of substance in terms of plot and character development, and therefore not a lot to discuss.
Yeah sure, that sounds good. I was just throwing something out there to get started as soon as possible. But if we can agree on something before Monday, that would be great. Throw out some suggestions!
Didn't make it clear in my last post, but I meant that only one person per week puts up a list of 3 shows for everyone to vote on, (probably easier than everyone choosing between 12-15 suggested different shows).
Still keen to hear other suggestions as well
Anyway as for suggestions (in case we don't figure out a system before Monday): Girls und Panzer (heard it was decent) Haiyore! Nyaruko-san (Just realised that the sequel will be airing next season so it is actually worth rewatching.) Oreimo (As with Nyaruko, the sequel is airing next season)
This weeks fairy tail chapter was sooooo good, favourite chapter in a long time, kinda sad that they're going back to Natsu next week, the Daimato Enbu was so awesome, favourite arc so far
This is the version I downloaded. It's the Blu-Ray rip with Underwater-Rori soft-subs. (I think that Haiyore has some scenes that have been uncensored in the BD but I'm not sure).
