hey all i am one of the original 5 that bard picked up and its been really awesome, ive loved every minute of it. he has improved my pvt emensly i went from doing cheap tactics (6 gate all in ) to refineing a build that is standard and easy. the main thing im liking about the lessons is that he is making you work macro macro macro or in his words Probes and Pylons , Probes and Pylons ,Probes and Pylons, Probes and Pylons
you get the point haha!! also the way he teaches is awesome and how with a quick look at a replay knows exactly what you are doing wrong.
he also doesnt just tell you what your build is he makes you play a few games with out reminders and asks during the game what are you doing next. (repition is key) i went from not knowing what the hell im doing in a pvt to being confident with every game and i want those pvt matches i want to be kicking their arses.
we are going onto pvp now and i cant wait if i can get ahead and this level of confidence in myself vs p well than i think ill be in gold no time
Btw before coaching high bronze cant beat silver to high bronze beating 80 % of silver i vs. anyway i just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH MR BARD you have helped me emensly and you have helped me help others i un officially coach low Bronze players so thanks man for the knowledge the skill the passion the confidence i need on my quest for GrandMasters
Thanks bard for all your coaching i went from bronze to silver it's been great , you are the best coach i have ever had in anything and i would gladly pay 50 dollars a hour for your coaching thanks carbon

Going through replay. Extremely helpful + great with pointing out what you did right and what you could have done better. Lesson was based around key problems observed in the replay (for me it was probe production). One problem was keeping in sync with each other during the replay, recommend telling student when you’re pausing and at what time, and to constantly state the time of points of interest (i.e. so at 13:25 X is happening blah blah).
He was nice enough to introduce me to several sites that listed build orders (such as Artosis’s SC Dojo). As well as recommend me several videos to watch.
Along with having the tenacity to put up with me for 2 whole hours, he gave me a number of tips to help me with avoiding supply blocks, as well as walking me through a build order (which was completely new to me) and what to generally do with my scouting information.
I considered myself to be a pretty decent player, however this first lesson was a real eye opener for me in how I approach my macro and my PvZ.
This Lesson was primarily going over a few replays I sent him of me trying the build. Noticed a definite improvement in my play from before our first lesson. First replay was pretty straightforward. In the replay however he was constantly pointing out things that I could have done better, particularly points of the game where I actually could have won if I had pushed out instead of waiting and somehow winning because protoss imba . We then played a few games where constantly went over the start of the build, during which he applied all sorts of early game Z pressure. We also talked about variations, such as stargate instead of hallucinate.
The main problem I had with this lesson was that there wasn’t much progression in terms of learning. It was great to reinforce my understanding of the build, but I feel like I wasn’t progressing as fast as I wanted. That being said, I think it is a good idea that you spend one lesson introducing a build and one lesson reinforcing it.
I sent him a replay of me getting manhandled by muta ling doing the build he taught me. Unfortunately we weren’t able to cover handling mutas in the previous lessons. Firstly he went over several mistakes that I made and pointed out places where I could have instantly won the game due to misplaced spines. After that he gave he a good general rule of what to do when a scout a spire. We then went to a phoenix micro tester, which was very easy, and a unit micro tester to practice forcefields. I was surprised to find that I overestimated my opponent’s army composition’s ability against my current units.
We then went over identifying army compositions and whether I should engage or not. This included briefly going over a replay where he saw his opponent was marauder heavy and went for an immortal bust.
This was followed by a custom game where he reinforced what he taught me during the lesson, replicating points in the replay I sent him so that I could see that I would have actually won if I had engaged.
I really enjoyed this lesson, one main problem was that I didn’t completely understand how to FF a ling roach composition in an open engagement, so I would recommend that you show your student how thier FFs should look like, then allow them to try it. I was also a little disappointed that we weren’t able to progress to PvT, however I feel that my PvZ has become my best match up thanks to his coaching.
Another thing I’d like to note is that I found the VOD for the 2nd lesson extremely useful and highly recommend that you stream your lessons more often.
I also recommend having a word document of the building orders and general responses (I made a table for the hallucination responses if you want it) because not everyone might be up for taking notes.
Overall I really enjoyed Bard’s coaching and recommend it to anyone looking to improve their game. I look forward to continuing when I get a computer if he's willing
I know slots are fully booked, but seeing such favourable reviews pop up makes me itch for some quality coaching. Please put me on the reserve list if there's any!

Thanks for the detailed analysis Lemminks! I really appreciate it!
Unfortunately guys with uni and socializing I'm really starting to feel the pressure of coaching multiple people for 1-2 hours a week. So I'm sad to say that I am gradually closing down for the moment! I will not be offering any coaching for just a little while (4-6 weeks) as I work on 1. Improving my own play and 2. getting into a decent rhythm with my other commitments. Another reason I am taking a break is because the other alternative would be to charge for coaching, I dont feel it is reasonable for a player of my cailbre to charge just yet which brings me to my second point!
While coaching I have learnt several gaping flaws in my own play. Especially in PvP. At the moment I am not comfortable with my own game and how much it has deteriorated recently, I dont feel comfortable offering others advice/coaching when I feel that my own decision making is basically down the tube. This is a pretty easy thing to fix though practice, practice, practice. so like I said I hope to have this achieved in 4-6 weeks then re continue coaching when I am at a competitive level again.
In terms of Uni and sport I think you guys can probably empathize with me doing 14+ hours a week on coaching and feeling a little under pressure lol it has been increasingly difficult to make a detailed lesson plan and actually keep up with all my students replays etc. Combined with my sport trainings and commitments for Nerve I feel it is in my best interests to take a break now and get ahead of things, than to get behind and be constantly in a rush with everything.
So sorry to those who have recently PM'd me! I will get back to you and if you would still like coaching for when I return I may look into doing a "waiting list" for anyone interested! In the meantime I will still be active on the forums and if you would like any feedback on replays/help with builds feel free to ask!
Also I will be streaming myself "attempting" to improve so if you want to watch me rage, call my opponents crap (when they are actually awesome and simply a better player than me) and laugh/giggle to myself when I go on a win streak please tune in!
I started getting coached by Bard awhile ago, and with just two lessons and several consultations, he's seriously helped me improve my play from almost high gold level to mid diamond! I really enjoy his lessons, 1 hour of some serious scrutiny on my plays, going through thought processes and at the end of it I'm so tired I'm done playing for the day.
Bard is always very well prepared with materials and replays, making references to his own games and sc2dojo.. I find that very commendable for someone giving coaching for free. He is also very knowledgeable in the game and Protoss.
Each lesson is very well planned out, starting with some Q&A and problems that i encounter. Bard will then give a list of responses to react to according to what I see, making me write it down on notepad(which comes in extremely handy as you can refer to it after the lesson). After which, I play versus him or another player of similar or higher level. During the game, he scrutinizes my play and helps fine-tune my build order on the way. One thing I really enjoy is how he makes the lesson so interactive by asking questions, instead of telling the student what to do. It really keeps the thought process in my head.
I think the only thing Bard needs now to be a paid coach is to also help on the mental part of the game, such as meta-gaming or keeping a healthy gaming mindset.
I really appreciate the time he has given to me and I would highly recommend anyone who has already gotten their basics right, and wants to improve to talk to nRvBard.
