Do want to go to a supernova, any of you been, seems like a lot of fun.
I went on Saturday to the one in Melbourne and it was pretty good, although none of the things they had on, aside from the stores (which is essentially the main thing), really interested me.
Pics of the two BRS figures and artbook of HUKE's concept art for BRS and Steins;Gate. The quality is pretty terrible since they're taken with my phone's camera. >.<
Finished Monmusu Quest part 2 some days ago =) Might play through everything again to get a better clear file, missed some stuff in the encyclopaedia for some reason.
I've made a pretty decent start into Yume Miru Kusuri. You guys should all catch up! Been pretty good so far, will post impressions soon (for real hah)
Senjougahara seems quite....dominating in a way, I'd like to have Shinobu as my master, Sena(Mashiro-iro Symphony) when she was bossy, plenty of stuff from Monmusu Quest, Medaka(Medaka Box), that Ojou-sama girl from HighSchool DxD, the list goes on but the common theme is that they're kinda superior in some form or way. At least this is what I've concluded from my observations
EDIT
Though there can be exceptions like Subaru from Mayo Chiki! in which case I don't mind being her master =P But even in that case, I'd like to be serving Kanade heheheheheheheheheheheeh
EDIT
is there something wrong with me =|

Wait... u like being dominated or being the dominate one?
Loved the concept of the show, though felt like the execution of the ending could be better, but really liked the stuff leading up to the ending. But even then the ending itself was sort of fitting.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a series with a cool concept or just love School Food Punishment(The ED is RPG by them =P). The story itself is quite okay, can't really tell how fast the plot was advancing because I marathon-ed it today. Cool series.
EDIT
oh woops, read it as 'dominating or being dominated' to which I say being, so yeah, being dominated. And who doesn't like a tsundere =)

If I was to recommend a single show to watch for someone who's never seen an anime before (aside from DBZ, One Piece, Naruto etc...), I would say Gurren Lagann.
Other I would recommend are:
- Hellsing (Action/Mystery/Vampire)
- Ghost in the Shell (Action/Sci-Fi)
- Claymore (Action/Adventure/Fantasy)
- Amagami SS (Romance/Drama/Comedy/Slice of Life)
- Clannad (Romance/Drama/Comedy/Slice of Life)
In the OP I think it's also worth mentioning that Subs are better than Dubs.
Edit: Going to bed now, so don't expect a reply until tomorrow. Nitenite

Durarara
Clannad with Afterstory
Steins;Gate (VN and Anime both)
Ano hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
Bakemonogatari
Nodame Cantabile
I think FMA is the ultimate introduction to anime. It really has everything. Cool story/settings, fantastic characters, relatively straightforward (as in not a mindfuck), heartwarming at times, downright depressing at others.
"Mama...why are they burying Papa? Papa won't be able to go to work if they do that. Papa said he had a lot of work to do! Stop! Don't bury him! Papa!!"
Hmmm I don't know about recommending Bakemonogatari (or any Shaft anime) to newcomers. They mostly are pretty abstract-ish and weird so everyone I showed it to as a first anime were pretty put off.
Some I would recommend,
Gundam 00
Mushishi
Samurai Champloo
Full Metal Panic! (especially Fumoffu!)
Itazura na Kiss 3
You having manga recommendations in OP?
Yeah I guess, though I'm pretty sure there are newcomers who would watch that. Bakemonogatari was my first abstract-ish kind of show, and some of the first few series I watched.
EDIT
And I'm starting to wonder how do your download folder looks like, if you do store your anime on your com here's mine
And buying is even better but I agree with you but unfortunately I have about 50gb in combined space left on my HD and Laptop so I can't download anything any more
I've pretty much streamed most stuff I've watched for the last two or so years, just more convenient. I do want to go back and get some stuff in BD quality though. I wish I could buy more T.T
Here is my download folder, a place where shit sits for a couple of months until I sort it into either Music, Anime, Porn or Games hahah
I don't what I'm feeling right now. I feel bored, but interested in what comes, I feel glad that that asshole of a father got what he deserved, but its so...ngeh how it happened. Will watch next episode for sure, I think =|
I really dont like the father of Sankarea, agree he got what he deserved.
I remember reading the manga ages ago, but i dont remember the plot, so hopefully the anime does not dissapoint
supposedly HoTD has been green lighted for Season 2. I'm a lil sceptical cause the last time someone told me it was green lighted, it was an April Fools' joke
I look forward to it cute, and thats pretty epik for the anime/manga thread.
Recently i've been reading a 'sh*t, tonne of manga', and i feel kinda addicted, anyone know any high rated manga, prefferably genres in 'romance, ecchi' but i dont mind 'comedy, action, etc'.

They are not really ecchi but two good romance manga out right now are Tonari no Kashiwagi-san and Nisekoi.
You've probably read it but Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa (romance/comedy/kinda ecchi) has recently finished and since it's made by my favourite mangaka I have to recommend it
Edit: Just read Kono Kanojo wa Fiction desu, it seems like it will be ecchi/romance so you might like to give that a try.
Also, if you can't find any manga you feel like reading, try manhwa. Some great ones are Tower of God, Crepuscule (though it has really slow story), Ares, City of Dead Sorcerer and Under Prin

Earlygame ZvZ is basically a knifefight with suicide bombers.
I do try and get stuff direct from fansubber, but it's pretty hard with older stuff, cause there's often no seeds. bakabt's is very good for that. eh, I have like 100GB left this month with nothing I need to DL, might just seed some stuff
True purpose of Blu-Ray, Uncensoring.
Side purpose of Blu-Ray. Quality + Fixes
I also torrent all of my anime, i torrent directly from fansubbers, this is where a few tb of hd can really come handy . Also have unlimited dl/ul so im good on the internetz
I always torrent the stuff I watch just so I don't have to re-download if I want to re-watch a show.
www.nyaa.eu is really good for getting torrents of shows that fansubbers have just released, but I generally just get them from the subbers' website directly. Also some groups have DDL links on their sites for series they have subbed, so you don't have to torrent them.
Commie, imo currently the only fansub that does the majority of 'good' shows in 'good' quality
Probably also one of my favourite subbers
Check out doki.co as well, they don't drop any projects (none so far) and do not plan on dropping, imo the best quality as they also do blu-rays once they are out.
So must put this out there, my recent manga list consists of: (also extra info)
Maga Tsuki - (what could be better than a 3 on 1 harem style)
Kimi no iru machi - (lots and lots of drama)
Kami-nomi aka 'The World God only knows' - (capturing girls hearts anyone?)
Watashi ni xxx shinasai - (yukinaaa nicee bodyy)
Nisekoi - (interesting plotline)
To love ru - (ecchi EVERYWHERE, also imouto is best)
note; this is only a few of the manga im currently reading, i seem to be addicted. Must continue to search for even more !
a friend passed my his pendrive the other day...it has this anime called Tokyo Majin. Its a cool show imo but I have no idea what the plot was lol. I googled and it turns out its an anime based on some games.
Just wondering if anyone has watched it before and could explain to me :l

Just started reading it, and its right at the beginning for me. First thoughts, why the **** is everyone late for school or sleeping during classes or etc lol?
Oh, shit's actually getting real. Wonder if the kiss at the end is a cute kinda thing or 'I wanna eat you from the inside out' kinda thing. Zombies so moe. Liking this show so far, feeling very sad for Rea
It was so god tier i bought the full dvd boxset. cost me like ~$200. gonna give it to my sister.. haha she won't know what hit her.. this will be classic.
Oh my god Clannad was epic, one of the best parts imo was extra chapters (kyou + tomoyo).
I never did watch -afterstory-, i dont think i could handle what was going to happen even though i already knew.
Dude, you HAVE to watch Afterstory. Honestly, I see all of the original season as just one big buildup for it. I can't even describe how I felt while I was watching like the last eight or so episodes.

Dude...
It is your absolute duty to watch After Story. After story is what makes this 10/10 anime into infinity/10.

Looks like i have to watch afterstory now, will get to it in abit, might have to pick up hyouka as well.
KyoAni win ! has some of my favourite shows (Haruhi + K-on)
Reading a little bit more, what's up with all these situations in the damn game? It's like...all these text book cliche situations. Not that its bad to have em, but it's kinda reaching to a point where its too much. I mean I'm very much in the beginning of the game after 2 choices, and I'm kinda sick of that stuff already. Well I'll finish it anyway because that seitokaichou chick is interesting me
Oh and that guy at work is cool =)

Yeah I did, but once again, that M side of me is causing that kaichou to shine for me. I mean like....a senpai, and a kaichou...she orders me around to do stuff even....uufuuufuufuufuufuuu~
uhuh...just clicked that choice o.o Not gonna play through it now though since my buddy is here. Though he is still sleeping. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmm............
Well simple story. I guess I can't really connect with the characters too well in this one since I felt like the problems were just....meh. I mean like, his auditory hallucinations, okay maybe a little worried about Senpai's "I think I'll die" thinking. But yeah, plain and simple story, nothing breathtaking or so deep that I'd get totally engrossed with it. I might play this some other time just to 100% it just because. Guess its partly the fact that Sharin no Kuni, G-Sen and Ever17 were among my first VNs, and they were epics.
i wanna gather some opinions before "committing" to an anime ^^
I watched it 2 weeks ago in one sitting. There are hiccups in the plot around 3/4 in (stuff happens too fast without much explanation I felt) and I was disappointed with the last episode but it's one of those anime that you just enjoy watching.

I've watched GC and imo its not that great, very cliche', and the plot is really strange.
I was really impressed with the first episode but it declined heavily until about halfway, where i thought it would get better but alas i was dissapoint.
Sum. I think the general story could have been much better but it just didnt seem to deliver after episode 1.
IMO just watch episode 1 and leave it at that, if your expecting something epic dont continue.

same same...it was okish...not that great, not that bad...its like...a slow start to summer holidays, fun good middle thn u just feel like bleh at the end...that was my take but i enjoyed it still ^_^

I had that feeling last week after listening to some OSTs. So nostalgic re-watching Saint Seiya, Rurouni Kenshin, Ghost in the Shell and all those awesome oldies.
edit: My childhood flashes through my eyes every time I watch this OP
Kono S O Mi Yo is nice in the sense that it really made me "******* SHIT! THAT BITCH!" a whole lot, and it was good. Though again, I didn't continue reading because I just don't read.
Ugh....its always happening to me...sometime mid-season, I'll just stop watching anime. And then next season comes and I'll watch next season's anime and having to catch up this season's anime =(

oh dude, I was talking about current season animes, I have a shit ton of older stuff that I want to watch, namely, gonna start the whole Macross series.
Air Gear has ended! Anyone here read the ending yet?
I saw that the last chapter was released this week so I'm reading the series from the start now. Hopefully it's not the standard crappy shounen ending that's popular these days.
Finally Decided to watch a "Current" show(Hyouka) (I started watching heaps about 8 months ago, had/have alooot of catching up to do)
i was gunna wait till its done, but i watched the OP and couldnt help myself
Hyouka has been pretty good so far. Very slow though. Have a feeling that when it picks up, it's really gonna kick in like all their shows do. Gotta have dat faith in KyoAni yo
Also have been enjoying Hyouka. Some of the other forums were complaining how the mysteries aren't that big, but I find it nice how they can make the mysteries interesting without making them serious (such as including murder, conspiracies, etc.).
Another relatively new show that I'm enjoying a lot is Sankarea. Adds an interesting twist to the Romance/Comedy genre and thankfully no tsundere as the main character (yay for yandere!)
Sankrea and Hyouka are good ^_^ The two have something that just...appeals to me :P Just wish the home country would release it faster >< that or subbers weren't so busy all the time ><

Yeah, I find that Hyouka has that relaxing feeling to it.
It's been a long time since I've seen a romance/comedy (not that many new ones out that I could find T.T) so I'm enjoying Sankarea a lot. It's even worse for the manga, it's released monthly, hate waiting .

For fighting heroine I assume you mean an action anime that has a girl as the main character and not a magical girl anime (as I don't know any except for Puella Magi Madoka Magica).
I recommend Kara no Kyoukai, Blood+ and Ga-Rei Zero. There is also Shakugan no Shana and Kaze no Stigma though they are a boy/girl combo as the main characters.
if I were to give it a topic. As usual, I don't think I can make a fair judgement about if its good or not since I'm bad at judging whether a series/movie is good or not, but this movie, I just wanted to cry at so many parts. To me the way the story was told was just amazing, and the point attached to it was delivered very well. Recommended? I say yeah, but don't let what I say hype it up for anyone wanting to watch it, as my judgement is very very subjective
Also finished sora no woto the other day, the whole setting was begging to be turned into a badass walking-tank-battle-clusterfuck, it didnt though.
Was a cute series, the closing song is adorable and theres a few deep scenes, especially some of the ones with amazing grace, but its paced pretty well.
Would recommend if you liked K-on! ,
this is the one i used to get K-On! Season 1...its got all 13 eps, the OVA (ep 14) and the 7 Ura-On! The links dekay'd gave also hv all of em cept the 1080p i think.
Another high-school anime which aired this Spring 2012 season is Haiyore! Nyaruko-San! It has "fighting scenes" which add to the comedic part of the show.
Whats Everyone else looking forward to from this season?
Personally im thinking i'll watch Tari Tari, Kokoro Connect, & Sword art online. ^_^ (From first looks atleast anyway)
Also New Naruto Movie looks cool, Trailer had sasuke putting the moves on sakura, which totally means naruhina will happen, and that will be the best thing ever, even if its an A-U movie. :3
My friends, I apologize profusely for my absence over the last few weeks. Regrettably, substance abuse, career issues, family problems and ladies have taken control of my life recently, but I am back, better than ever and am ready to make this thread the best damn anime thread the internet has ever seen.
Edit: Also watched chitose get you! , i was expecting horrible and.. bad? idk. Its surprisingly funny/"wtf" 3-5 minute eps, i am so surprised.
+ the ED is catchy as all hell.
I'll be at Manifest. Doing Iron Chef AMV again (probably for the last time, I just can't seem to do all-nighters any more...), so if you're there Sunday evening, come watch me embarrass myself again!
I was there repping tek uniform and a pikachu hat on Saturday^^ Made me realise how much I love the scene! Are there any anime clubs or anything in Melbourne? I won't to find some friends who are also anime geeks...

Yeah, I think this thread really needs a bit of a revival. (Not that I haven't been contributing to the problem (1st post in 4 months **** YEAH)).

For me it was very meh, I guess it's worth watching if you a considerable way into it. Overall probably 7.5/10
This last season the only three shows I've really followed and not fallen behind in are Kokoro Connect, Total Eclipse and KoiChoco. And even then they aren't really good, 8/10 at best.
Oh and does anyone else absolutely hate Sword Art Online? This might just be cos I lurk so much on /a/ where they're all cynical towards anything popular.
i loved hyouka, animation was awesome in it, idk about feels, but it was nice.
Last ep of Tari Tari was ridiculously cheesy, but also kinda funny, im glad they didnt drag it on too long.

D: Its gone a bit downhill since a few weeks back, but i still love that shit man, SAO cray cray, but i liked it better when it was more about an awesome/messed up MMO than when it was an intense love story, because its kinda bad at that, but i didnt read the LN so idk.
It's probably me just being an elitist **** as usual. But I tend to find myself hating pretty much any show that has a fanbase where most people are retarded and do shit like create music videos with Linkin Park - Crawling as the background track.
Again I do spend a lot of time on /a/, which is easily the most elitist group of people you can find. Where anything that is popular they hate even if the show is actually good.
Hey guys!! I'm not really familiar with anime as the only animes I used to watch were mainstream ones when I was a kid showed on cartoon network like Dragon ball Z and naruto. Few months ago my friend recommended me Death Note and Code Geass and really loved them! (Like insaneeely loved it.... Lelouch why did you have to sacrifice yourself?!?!? T_T)
Are there other anime similar to them?

I think we all here have our personal favourites but Clannad and Clannad: After Story is generally a show that quite a few people would agree is really good. It's basically a romance/comedy/slice of life with really likeable characters, for me at least.
I suggest finding a version that has subtitles with the original japanese audio because the english voice actors really don't do it justice. And if you do decide to watch it DO NOT look up the story beforehand just watch it without any external bias or expectations in mind. Note: the first season and half of the second season is pretty much just a build up to the second half of After Story.
Other than that and any other recommendations other people might give you, you may want to watch shows that are currently airing, or about to air as the new season is about to start.
Best thing about subs is when the translators add in little changes to what is being said, not so much as it changes the meaning but just enough to be funny.
People who hate Sword Art Online should really read the novel. The story doesn't just end on romance like every single other story, there's 10 volumes, 2 of which will be covered in the next 13 episodes and bringing in some sick new things, adding up to a total of 4 volumes covered this season. My guess is if there are additional seasons (and it's very likely seeing as it's really popular), the other seasons will be 12 episodes, 2 volumes each. Also the LN is ongoing so it's not finished yet!
As for Hyouka, it started off well but I feel like they tried tooo hard and ended up with a story sometimes intellectually stimulating, but not as solid as the story of Another or Mirai Nikki (both animes that should be watched).

Yeah Mav, Death Note is such a sick series man, I just finished watching Ergo Proxy, man I think it has to be one of my favourite anime series so far, I like how dark the characters are and the story in my opinion was pretty hooking. I am now watching Cowboy Bebop lol.

So.. new season. Whats everyone looking at?
What does everyone miss?
Stumbled upon "Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun " - which i dont remember seeing on any previews or anything, (maybe i just skipped over it? idk), was surprisingly good. Funny rom-com, did alot for the first ep.
Also heard theres no more K.Connect untilt he DVD/BD, anyone know for sure? Sucks if so, i want those other 4 eps
Started watching Shinsekai Yori, its craaaaazy cool! Really good so far. Weird, but cool. Will watch.
Edit again: new KyoAni show is crazy good, everything i was expecting- over-the-top Moe and really funny. i like this season.
Im up to episode 15 of Death Note... watched them over the week. Wow.... Such a good series and they are all on youtube for free. Anyone that hasnt got into anime should check out a couple of episodes.
I wish Fullmetal Alchemist didn't end already Or Shakugan no Shana.
Initial D is still going with manga, but it just doesn't feel as entertaining to be honest...
I hope they make a new anime series soon, like a Fifth Stage or something.
Definitely in my list of what I always read and/or my favourites:
- Bleach
- Fairy Tail
- Naruto
- Kateyoushi Hitman Reborn
- Claymore
- Rosario Vampire
- Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night
Sword Art Online's freaking amazing, the concept is amazing and I love how things fall in to place in it. Definitely my favourite for 2012.
And has anyone watched Great Teacher Onizuka here? It's the funniest anime I've ever watched and when there is a serious moment it's done so perfectly in my opinion.
Started watching My Bride is a Mermaid as well; MY GOD it's hilarious.
i know Death Note must have been talked about in the many pages before this one. but i only recently started to watch anime or manga or what not. and so far Death Note is the only one i have watched that hasnt made me want to hurt most of the main characters . (cough Soul Eater) . in closing Death Note was awesome and to all who are new to Anime manga , i suggest this as a first !
Still a lot of work to be done on the OP, but I'm slowly getting there. Will aim to finish it up as soon as I get back from my week long cruise around South East Asia ^^
I deliberately made it as pink as humanly possible btw. I'll make it look a bit nicer too, I promise.
SC2SEA Anime Club is pretty much what it sounds like. Anyone can join, and then we'll vote on a series to watch. We'll then watch a few (probably 3 or 4) episodes per week and dissect the shit out of them. Will be good fun. Hopefully some of you are interested. If you are, let me know and I'll add you!
The reviews section is pretty much just going to link to user reviews by our members. I'll do a few eventually, but if you wanna go ahead, do your own! I'll probably end up coming with a format we can follow, but for now anything goes.
What we're watching, is pretty self explanatory, let me know!
If anyone else has any fun things we can do, hit me up!
I help out baka-tsuki with light novels PDFs umm I donno there are heaps good ones out there I'm currently trying to learn chinese so I can read them in chinese but the good ones in English are defiantly Sword Art Online but probably best people finish the anime first. I recently got into Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance and always been keeping up with Campione since it's my main PDF project to work with. other recommendations Toaru Majutsu no Index is also good I enjoyed both the anime and novel
Well now I am done school and have literally nothing on my plate to do I will have lot of free time (after schoolies of course!). So I am going to watch all the amazing anime I have missed out on, here is a brief list; Fate Zero, FMA Brotherhhod, SAO, Little Busters! and no doubt way more xD
I would also love to be a part of this anime club^^

Character/Seiyuu:
Tamako Kitashirakawa: Aya Suzaki
Midori Tokiwa: Yuuki Kaneko

All minor seiyuu with previous roles few to none.
Character descriptions:
Tamako:
Main character. Daughter to a mochi storefront owner in the Usagiyama shopping district. Highschool freshman. Bright and cheery, with a warm heart. Member of the badminton team. Loves mochi. Scatterbrained personality, but she has a talent for making perfectly round mochi.
Oh man, it's Mugitanda 2.0.
Midori:
Tamako's classmate and childhood friend. Member of the badminton team. Her grandparents own a toy shop in Usagiyama shopping district. Often sticks her nose in Tamako's business. The lovable tsukkomi
It has been reported elsewhere that the belief is that , which sounds pretty amusing.
Kanna:
Tamako's classmate. Member of the badminton team. Daughter to a carpenter who receives lots of work in Usagiyama shopping district. Curious about the heights of buildings and constantly surveys them. Does things at her own pace.
She looks quite a bit like Mayaka.
The show is premiering January 9th 24:30 on Tokyo MX
Shiori Asagiri (voiced by Yurie Yamashita)
Tamako's classmate and fellow badminton club member. This beauty with the classes has a cool and diligent personality
Mochikura Ooji (voiced by Atsushi Tamaru)
Tamako's classmate and childhood friend. He's the son of the mochi shopkeeper across the street from "Tamaya," named "Oojiya." As a member of the film research society, he can properly use a camera.
Anko Kitashitakawa (voiced by Rina Hidaka)
Tamako's little sister. A fourth year in elementary school. The little sister differs from the big sister in that she's "in style." She thinks running a mochi shop is a bit outdated.
the only manga i have ever seen is howels moving castle n that was epic

Just finished watching Death Note, i really wanted Light to win -.-
yeah, was disappointed it didn't work out like, for me it's partly because he in my opinion one of the best and most well written characters I've ever seen personally.
I also felt like after about episode 25, it just wasn't as awesome as it was prior to that! ;o

I liked it... didnt love it, idk. alot of things went unresolved, and adding a random narrator felt really forced and... weird.
But Chuuni kumin ruled, so its all okay, and overall the show was great.
I started CLANNAD: After Story and Fate Zero, not liking Fate Zero atm though, really struggling -_-
Planning to watch Fate/Zero in a couple of days when my family goes away on holidays and I have nothing else to do. Have you seen Fate/Stay Night? Because I've heard Fate/Zero is supposed to be a much better adaption of the source material than Fate/Stay Night was.

Should have a meet up or something^^
May possibly be going to one of them. But tbh after I went to Supanova this year it's hard to see the appeal of it unless you're there to see a celeb or the cosplay or the like... Cos the merchandise is ridiculously expensive (as I found out after I bought $240 worth of stuff to find out it costs ~$150 online + shipping).
Anyway still may go, will definitely post in this thread if I plan to go to one of them.

FSN magic transfer wasn't accurate at all in the anime =/

Nah I haven't seen it...
I am planning to cosplay for most of them and I love seeing everyone else in cosplay so that is why I normally go^^ but yeah merch and everything in general is super pricey.

I keep it real bruv.
Read through a bit of the thread and it was cool to see some of the recommendations/reviews and such. I remember I was gonna post in this thread a while ago but felt too newbie to do so haha.
So this year more than any other year i've been watching a lot of EVERYTHING, from Breaking Bad/GoT to rewatching DBZ, watching Avatar: TLA and even the first season of pokemon for memories. Finally, since the influence of a couple of my mates who have watched anime since forever has slowly been ingrained into me, I started some Anime's! I started one of the gateways in Naruto. I got into it a lot and enjoyed it while I watched then read it. Thought it was quite fun and i'm a fan of long shows/mass watching so the big 3 appeal to me initially (much to the chagrin of people who bother to read this haha). I understand and know since watching DN and reading the descriptions of some like Monster and Berserk that Naruto is pretty average overall, but the entertainment I got out of it at the time will always be a good memory.
I soon after came upon Death Note and fulfilled a 3 year old promise to watch it with my mate and got half way through it. I thought it was fantastic and i'm now finishing it up finally.
After DN though came One Piece. The marathon challenge of watching close to 600 episodes started spontaneously one day just like Naruto, and in what was about 3-4 months I finally finished it last week! Since I haven't given Bleach a go yet since it appealed to me the least I can't say this for certain, but I believe One Piece is easily my favorite of the 'Big 3' coming from a newbie. It's easy in certain shows to find characters you dislike just because they are bad characters, but OP makes a lot of the characters to me seem enjoyable and not a turn off - although some of the legit homo characters make me look behind my shoulder when they are on screen haha. Anyway as I said above I love length... ... so it was truly fun to go through OP and it had a great flow to it. Currently finishing up on the Manga of it and enjoying that just as much. Biggest drawback - another 10+ years until it will probably ever ******* end
Anyway, current Anime (+ manga in some cases) i've put on my list for whenever in the future:
Darker than Black
Cowboy Bebop
Code Geass
Bleach (Maybe)
Full Metal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell
Hunter X Hunter
Fairy Tale
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Baccano
Claymore
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Ghost in the Shell
Monster
Roroni(?) Kenshin
Gurren Laggan
Berserk
Detective Conan
Btooom
Sword Art Online
I'm not sure if my free time in the coming year will be as easy to come by but I'm sure I can finish at least a couple of them, !
Yeah Sword art is really good I also released a PDF version light novel which came with the BD it's the event that takes place when Kirito ~~~~~ not going to spoil but if you watched past ep 16 you can read it. http://www.mediafire.com/?zigb6da2xcp24a7
I also started watching Gintama it's bloody funny hopefully I can go through 200+ episodes I can see why the community rated it 9/10 xD need to watch alot of anime to understand all the references also movies ep 1-2 made me lol because they used lightsabers against wooden sword samurais LOL

You should read it and watch the fights you'll get it done alot faster and the fights are just epic
For those starting SAO who havent read the LN's,i recommend MDZ's Blog after each ep- he goes through and fills in any gaps & explains the mechanics/characters/interactions really well (normally),
Helped to make sense of alot of things that were left out ^_^
EDITED IN: Next season i'll be watching Tamako Market, Magi, Sakurasou, Shin sekai, Maoyu Maou Yusha and Naruto(fillers end soon!), are there any others i should watch out for?
i couldn't get into hellsing ultimate at all... while technically superior in a lot of ways, it just lost all of the character and just "cool" of the original. Felt like watching a pretty replica with no soul at all.

I felt sought of the same but I liked the first one so much I could see through it and just enjoyed seeing it again I guess the huge wait between episodes also I think gave you a placebo that it was awesome each time an episode came out.

maybe... i remember being kinda excited when the first one came out a few years ago and then being a little disappointed, rewatching the first again cause it made me want to then just forgetting about it...
in other news, pezz convinced me to download katanagatari... haven't watched anything much for a few years.
I've finished reading & watching quite a few manga/anime in the past few months and I've also re-watched quite a few things too.
The most recent things I've watched & read are:
- Sword Art Online (really enjoyed it)
- Naruto (up to date)
- One Piece (not up to date yet)
- Fairy Tail (just started)
- Bleach
- Death Note (watched both the anime & live action)
- Plus a lot of shoujo stuff
I've watched all the old animes at least twice already like Rurouni Kenshin, Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha etc and I'm planning to watch/read >> Gantz << which seems like a really interesting story.
If anyone has any other anime/manga they recommend please let me know.

Yes! I am also going HotS launch and SuperNova, also I am bring two mates tonight who love anime too!
Sick, will probs see you at all of those events!
Alright, I'm back in Melbourne in a regular routine. Finally gonna start the anime club that we were talking about before.
First show will be my choice, and it's gonna be Haiyore! Nyaruko-san. I always wanted to watch it as it came out, but never got around to it. How it works is that we'll watch four episodes per week and just discuss what we think. A bit of directed discussion is always fun ^o^. Make sure to spoiler tag anything.
So we should be finish this in three weeks, then someone else picks next show.
Leave a comment on this post if you're interested.
edit: One week will generally go from Monday - Monday, we'll just start this one a bit earlier if anyone wants to
I agree with this list (apart from Elfen Lied, although it's still a good entry level show).
Quote:
and yeah all the < 30 ep ones imo are way better than those long series TT;
Any show that is not split into seasons (excluding movies and OVAs) isn't worth watching,
because imo a good story should at least have a satisfying ending that doesn't take 100-200 episodes of filler to get to.
I would also add: Spice and Wolf Amagami SS and SS+ Ghost in the Shell
(These along with Clannad and Steins;Gate complete my personal top 5)
I'm interested and would participate. Just one suggestion:
maybe each person puts up a list of 3 shows and everyone else votes on which one we will watch. Just so that we can try to avoid people re-watching shows or watching shows that aren't really interesting or worth discussing.
Only reason I thought of this is because I've seen Haiyore! Nyaruko-san and since it's such a light-hearted comedy, there isn't a lot of substance in terms of plot and character development, and therefore not a lot to discuss.
Yeah sure, that sounds good. I was just throwing something out there to get started as soon as possible. But if we can agree on something before Monday, that would be great. Throw out some suggestions!
Didn't make it clear in my last post, but I meant that only one person per week puts up a list of 3 shows for everyone to vote on, (probably easier than everyone choosing between 12-15 suggested different shows).
Still keen to hear other suggestions as well
Anyway as for suggestions (in case we don't figure out a system before Monday): Girls und Panzer (heard it was decent) Haiyore! Nyaruko-san (Just realised that the sequel will be airing next season so it is actually worth rewatching.) Oreimo (As with Nyaruko, the sequel is airing next season)
This weeks fairy tail chapter was sooooo good, favourite chapter in a long time, kinda sad that they're going back to Natsu next week, the Daimato Enbu was so awesome, favourite arc so far
This is the version I downloaded. It's the Blu-Ray rip with Underwater-Rori soft-subs. (I think that Haiyore has some scenes that have been uncensored in the BD but I'm not sure).

Is that all of the episodes included? May as well download this and give it a go, haven't watched any new anime in a while.
EDIT: It's got all 12. Sweet as, and also found out that there's a new, upcoming series as well.

So, this show is random. Even by anime standards. Gore to moe at the speed of light! Nyaruko is such a fun character so far. How dare Mahiro try to stop her buying the doujinshi ;o
Enjoying the parodies so far (Pokemon, Star Wars, Sailor Moon lol). Episode 1 gives off a kinda TLResque vibe (minus the gratuitous ecchi), but at least the plot seems vaguely more interesting. By that I mean that there is one.
The quasi season finale at the end of Ep 2 was a highlight. The dynamic between Nyaruko and Kuuko so cute ><
Cliffhanger ending to episode three. Mahiro forgot the note about no one in anime having parents.
ED >>>>> OP
I'm enjoying it decently, and will finish it. If it can keep up this level of sheer absurdity I'll probably jump on board with the sequel.
Re-watched the first episode and even though I still found many of the jokes and references hilarious, I'm probably gonna struggle to finish it a second time in full. For me it just lacks the substance needed to warrant a re-watch.
And yeah I agree with the similarity between this and TLR; very fun and enjoyable the first time round.
Anyway, to anyone that is perhaps sitting on the fence on whether or not to watch this series I'd definitely say watch it.
Also: Can't wait for everyone's reaction to the next character that is introduced.
Nyaruko's freaking hilarious I love this series, I've watched 9 episodes so far and there wasn't a dull moment for me (then again I am easily amused..) but the references I've seen so far are freaking great!
Speaking of random-ness, has anyone here watched Nichijou? I've seen random clips of it from the net from friends who link it to me and I swear that is the most random thing ever.

This show is just so much fun. Shotaaaaa alert. The back and forth between Nyaruko, Kouko and the boy is actually hilarious. Mahiro's mum is up there with best anime mothers. Poor Xoth

There's a promotional video that came out for a new upcoming anime based on a light novel called Kyoukai no Kanata >> Video Here <<
It sounds pretty interesting. Here is a short synopsis:
The story follows a high school sophomore named Akihito Kanbara. Although the boy appears human, he is half yōmu and invulnerable to wounds because he can heal quickly. One day, Akihito meets freshman Mirai Kuriyama when it seems she is about to jump from the school rooftop. Mirai is isolated because of her ability to manipulate blood, which is unique even among members of the spirit world. Disturbing events begin to unfold after Akihito saves Mirai.
So it seems like a supernatural show which I quite like. The release date hasn't come out yet but when it does come out should we all check it out?
To be blunt; it sounds like it's just going to be another let down from KyoAni, as so many of there recent shows have been. (Although at this point it's almost expected that any show they make is only going to be mediocre at best).
Red Data Girl
Yahari, Ore no Seishun LoveCome was Machigatteiru.
Date A Live
Photo Kano
Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Bride (Once I've finished the first season)
Oreimo S2
Nyaruko S2
Raildex S2
Still waiting for actual translations to some of the ones that have already aired, cos I hate the CrunchyRoll script that subbers like HorribleSubs use.
Edit: Just checked that EveTaku has released subs for Oreimo, yay
Watch: Sword Art Online ( mainstream badass show )
Maou mao yuusha ( such an interesting seinen show, a must watch for all those interested in fantasy, politics and economics ! )
ToraDora (funniest love comedy I have ever seen )

Only seen Date A Live, Yahari and the first episode of Samurai Brides so far.
Date A Live seems to have potential, hopefully it doesn't bomb out. Yahari seems pretty good, favourite so far. Hyakka Ryouran (as I said I've seen the first ep of second season and the first two eps of the first season), is a simple pervy show with Samural girls, not much to it other than that so far.
It's really hard to judge how good a show is going to be based on the first episode.I don't think I'll follow through and finish all the ones I listed in my previous post, but I'll at least watch 3 eps, and I might do a mini review of them all then.
I've been watching Chihayafuru the past week. I'm just waiting for the next episode to come out this week. I haven't had the time to watch anything else
They confirmed that they are definitely screening the film beforehand, Mamoru Hosoda is the Director, he also directed Digimon:The Movie & Summer Wars (among others).
Don't know how I haven't heard of this before now considering how well it was received. Will definitely watch, but won't go the screening seeing as it's a week night and I'm 40 mins away from the city.
ugh... people rating gurren lagann high just makes me want to throw up. I hated that show so much it's one of very few series I haven't finished after getting a few episodes into it.
I'd post my old list (not really anything in the last ~2 years in it) if anime-planet wasn't telling me it was down for maintenance.
Apperently Kyoto Animation are going to be behind the anime adaptation of Kyōkai no Kanata (light novel adaptation i think?) So it's probably something related to that.
edit; specifically (if it is) probably announcing the staff & cast.

Also get onto Henneko if you're into that stuff, A+ show right there. (seriously it rules)
Anyone else watching railgun s this season? first ep made me go back and watch railgun 1.
I really like that they made Sasuke return, but he's too evil at heart to aim for Hokage. (at the moment at least. I mean, come on, a few chapters ago he was trying to destroy the village, even taking into consideration what happened, he wouldn't be able to make such a drastic change so fast...)
I think, that that part was a bit too much, but I'm really liking the rest of it :P
Also, GOD DAMNIT ANIME STOP WITH THE FILLERS ALREADY

I had a hunch Sasuke would end up Hokage as soon as I read the chapter about the founding of Konoha. Having an Uchiha as Hokage would be a good display of faith by the people of Konoha. Would bring things full circle, as the village was part founded by an Uchiha after all.
Naruto will either die in the final fight, or realize that his dream is no longer to be Hokage and go off travelling with a new protige ala Jiraya used too. Dying seems more likely to me though. Probably the best ending that I could think of
And yeah, Attack on Titan is great. I'm two eps behind though ;o
Latest ep. thoughts? Was pretty sick and if you've read the manga no surprises....but damn, u cld feel the feels in this
anyone checked out Kakumeiki Valvrave and Suisei no Gargantia? this thread is 40 pages long and if i were to check even the prev 5 pages for it ill just be overwhelmed XD

Really glad that Pezz and Xzam got me into this. Pretty much picked it up and went wow from episode one, the latest one was pretty good - the build up to the final scene was really well done from the previous two episodes.
But did you see the (keep forgetting that you read it man TT) the preview for the next episode? It kinda made me want to throw something at someone,
Being an enemy of mankind and all, idk after coming to realise that he has potentially the power for humans to fight back it's so stupid that they turn their backs on Eren. I know that there is the whole, well we don't know what's going on here - so our first and most instinctive reaction is to simply refuse him any form of safety or security TT.
Really looking forward to the next one though (Final comment ^^)
One of the sickest anime I've gotten into in a while, definitely worth the time
nonono, don't read the manga even when you're up to date with the Anime! The Anime is so cliffhanger-y that you'll want to read the manga to find out what happens next, but don't do it! You'll learn the information by watching the Anime anyways, as such there's nothing you'd lose out, only that you'd take longer to learn the information :P or at least wait until there's a lot more manga for you to read, and then go ahead and read it :3

OKAY SO WHAT THE ****. Here i was expecting the splinter-fleet to get fucked up. but nope, much worse happens. that was glorious and horrifying and i yelled at my screen alot.
That ep went fast, right in the feels in parts. Havent read the manga but i kinda expected eren to be some weirdo, protag doesnt just die that early. (+ some of the stuff mentioned in earlier eps) New characters looked interesting and i still like where this is headed.
gonna watch attack on titan cause moonglade said so =X
He made it sound more interesting than the tor people who were talking about it... 3 eps in as of this morning. Pretty good, but not what I was expecting based on just how much hype it seems to be getting.
Do you guys know any sites for Manga where I can actually create an account, and "follow" mangas and get notifications whenever a new chapter is released? I know Mangareader.net has a function to email you whenever a new chapter is released if you decide to allow it to do so, but I don't like that method of doing it, it's sort of unorganized in my opinion.
So yeah, a site on which I can sign up, and then associate various mangas to my account, and get notified each time one of their chapters are released.

i think i have to agree with erasmus. this anime has been overhyped... and quite predictable. although i guess they were never really subtle about things to begin with.
going to read the manga anyway. and too tired to continue trying to articulate myself.
overhyped, but an okay series. still have yet to find a new anime that blows my mind, lol... going to try Appleseed XIII since I quite liked the original Appleseed and Appleseed Ex Machina.
