Sure waas a blast ! Can't believe it's over. i can't wait for the next one :
Shoutout to all the people who made this event happen it sure was waaaaaaaay above my expectations. Superb stream quality.
Aye that was a really fun event! I'm really looking forward to the next one. As usual everyone in the aus scene is awesome and great fun its a shame i couldnt bring myself to try ninja a room down there and drink with you guys sunday night. Was so tired I ended up sleeping like 8 hours on raamons floor before going home ~_~
First LAN, absolutely loved it! So much cooler feeling playing directly opposite from the other guy. And I even managed to not squeal like a teenage girl when mOOnGLaDe walked in the door ^_^
It was amusing hearing the random shouts of rage or joy coming from the CoD section.
Amazing event as to be expected when the sc2 portion was managed by Dox and Vanzr, two great guys. All the staff that worked at the event were very friendly and accomodating and it was a pleasure to hang out with them!
As moonglade said everyone that came to the event was awesome. Its amazing how friendly all the sc2 players and it was great to put alot of faces to names and hang out!
that being said MAKE SURE YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF! if you come to a lan especially with how big they are starting to become, its getting harder and harder to meet everybody. So make sure you intro yourself and you will have an even better time. Im sure all the other players would agree with my sentiments!
It needed to be streamed was the most fun and funniest series ever!!
But for those that weren't there, Pinder and I yelled insults when scouting probes died.. But we needed more COD style taunts during the game... Pinder has since called me a cheater, because I gas stole in our Sentry v Sentry game.. and put pylons where his nexus goes in the NR20 match.. :P
I had a great time at ACL, the event itself was great but just chilling with other guys who love starcraft for 2 days at a backpackers was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. Cheers guys! Also, the organisers, casters and general players were an amazing bunch of people, made me proud to be an sc2 player.
Thanks to everyone that watched / came down to ACL Gold Coast
Looking back on it, it was pretty incredible! Yeah there were some massive delays but this is only the first and I forsee it getting bigger and better, and Vanzr (Sundance DiVanzetti) can see right before his eyes how popular SC2 is becoming. I would not be surprised in the slightest if SC2 got main stage within the next couple big LANs. I believe the next one is in Sydney (April) and then Melbourne (June / July). Dox said they're gonna be roughly 3 months apart each time. Sydney is gonna have a massive SC2 crowd, guaranteed.
I flew to the Gold Coast straight from work, and then flew back this morning to go straight back to work so needless to say pretty wrecked but I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when I think back on the weekend. No, it's not because of how close in proximity I was to Rossi and Moonglade (although it definitely contributes) but because it honesty went off with delays being the only hitches and everyone walked away feeling really good about it. I saw a smile on every pro-gamer's face and every ACL staff member was stoked with what SC2 brought to their circuit. I see ACL becoming a big thing and I feel really lucky to be a part of it.
This was also my first time casting a big event like this, purely being an online caster until now. I have a lot to work on but I got some really good feedback and I know what to work on Surprisingly, all the feedback has been really constructive I expected to be flamed a little more lol. Side screen scroll was disabled, so were health bars part way through. Observing that way and casting at the same time is pretty hard, mini-map awareness disappears etc. Also I now know how to pronounce iaguz.
But enough excuses. ACL was amazing and will only get bigger and better. The production will get better. I'll get better (hopefully) and so will Dox / Doble or whoever I get to cast with! Thank you everyone for your kind words but especially thank you to all the SC2 pro-gamers for being absolute ballers (cheers for the smokes Pinder) and ACL for running a tight show
See ya in Sydney.

Your magnificent locks of hair made the cast for me. Totally going to sneak up behind you with a pair of scissors and cut me a piece at Sydney.

Don't forget about that ninja dude! I'm SO disappointed we were the only group of people that saw him.

Is that the guy who was flipping up on the edge of the stage? Saw that on stream for a while.

I feel ashamed to say that was me. Dox sneakily put the camera on us while we were messing around on the stage before the game and I had no idea. When his girlfriend told me the chat was talking about me I was like ohhhhh shit, sat down straight away. :P

Nah this was during the lunch break. A group of us went for a walk to find food through Bond Uni, and on the horizon we see this blonde guy with long hair in a ninja cosplay (looked like Ken from Street Fighter) sprinting so hard. He ran straight past us. And his face was f*cking priceless, had the most intense focused look like he was either running from machine gun fire or on his way to murder someone. We had a pretty good chuckle, I was going to bring it up on stream but the break was so long I forgot. That cafe needs faster staff man.
Grats to everyone who played, casted and worked on the event, as a stream viewer I thought it was awesome to watch and I can't wait for ACL Sydney!
I have been wanting to start a SC2 blog with lots of SEA goodness so I did a bit of a write up of ACL Gold Coast to kick things off, was just a brief one which is why there is no mention of a lot of the players (Such as the peoples champ olde Chadmann) but I will be adding a lot more content over the next few weeks.
