Ordered razer

Hey there ppl ,
I have just save a few bucks and hav ordered from my local razer seller a "Razer Arctosa" , and i was wondering if there's someone out there who know a thing or two about this product.
It's my first gaming product.

I've used a couple of Arctosas and found them to be pretty nice. The keys are the slim-capped laptop style and have a nice balance between feeling soft to press without being too light on the resistance.

Seeing as all the cool kids are trying to be gosu and buying mechanical keyboards like the pros (myself included <_< >_>) you'll probably run into some haters of all things membrane, but if that's what you're used to I'm sure you'll be happy with your purchase. As far as membrane keyboards go, it's a pretty good one.

it's a "normal" keyboard imo. i bought it as a replacement for that useless piece of crap that is the razer lycosa (broke really fast for me, barely 1 year -_-") nothing fantastic imo, on the plus side, it has lasted wayyyyy longer than the Lycosa.

close to 2 years I believe. what i like about it is that it's pretty understated, simple, no frills keyboard.

but i'm itching for a mechanical keyboard. from what i've heard.

Got a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate last week, and it's the best keyboard I've ever used. Ever.

Backlit mechanical keyboard loud keys though.

Mechanical keyboards are really nice to use for sure, and I wouldn't go back to a regular keyboard now. They're far from essential to your being good at Starcraft though, don't get sucked into thinking they will magicly make you better at the game :P

Not a fan of the slim keys on the arctosa :/ Its bad for RTS games such as starcraft (in my experience).

I had an arctosa before i used my mates mechanical keyboard and decided i better get one... so my arctosa is sitting in my bookshelf doing nothing. If someone has something i want i would be willing to trade my arctosa, hell if the right person came along i would give it to them, unlikely that i will ever go back to it...

Used arctosa/lycosa at internet cafe's and i must say those keyboards are HORRIBLE, maybe because my fingers are big but I found that I would hit wrong keys most of the time and the build of the keyboard overall seemed very flimsy

If you are after gaming gear get a mechanical keyboard, FILCO/SteelSeries 6g/6gv2/7g/Ducky ect... those keyboards don't have fancy shmancy backlightning/macro keys but they are:

- very durable
- pleasure to type on
- awesomesauce response time/pressure needed to activate a key (which is AWESOMESAUCE for gaming!!!)

Some of those keyboards are loud due to switches used, any switch is good for gaming just pick one that you feel is comfortable (i find that for myself black switches from 7g are very nice, tried blues and didn't really like them that much)

Sure you will pay $60-$100 more than arctosa (from their RRP of $69.99 which is actually MUCH higher in local aus shops) but those keyboards will last you for far longer than arctosa/lycosa, just dont spill any liquid on them :P

Everything is terrible in an internet cafe. Unless they maintain it really really well and made sure nobody spills anything on them.
Anyway.... if you were to compare mech keyboards to regular membrane keyboards, yeah, i'd say mech keyboards will definitely come out tops. But since OP has already ordered an Arctosa, just letting him know it wasn't a waste of money. It IS a decent product

If you're going to spend that much money on a keyboard you might as well get a mechanical. Blue or Brown switches are what most people use for SC2.

Your best choices are probably:
- Razer Blackwidow (Mechanical, Blue switches, very cheap if you get the non-backlit version)
- Filco Majestouch (Mechanical, Blue, Brown or Black switches, solid design)
- Daskeyboard (Mechanical, Blue and Brown switches)

Where you can buy:
Filco -> http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/products/1838/
Razer and Daskeyboard -> http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...cPath=113_1276

Got a Filco Majestouch with Brown switches a while back from AusPCMarket (Only place I've been able to find that sells them in Aus) and it's a dream to type and play on. Definately recommend.

Information on the differences between the different switch types in mechanical keyboards:

Dude, I had my BlackWidow for 1 week and spilled half a can of Mother in it. It stopped working immediately, but after 2 days of drying it started working again. 2 weeks after that the 7 and J keys became unusable. Not the biggest of deals, but it is AWFULLY annoying when passwords and commonly typed phrases contain them.

Anyway now I have a Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless MX Blue and it's definitely the best keyboard I have ever used. For people who are able to get the BlackWidow for a significantly less price, I certainly recommend that though. The BlackWidow is hands down the best bang-for-buck keyboard out there. I don't recommend the Ultimate though, but that's just because I'm not sucked in by backlights :P
