Nope, this is not another Open. This is a brand new tournament related to . Ever wanted to play in a tournament with a Dual Tournament format in group stages, then advance with a close 2-1 win over your opponent to the next stage? Now is the chance for you to experience that as a player!
Everyone deserves some attention. To keep the community motivated to play more, and in an effort to hopefully increase the overall skill level of , this tournament is here to serve its purpose! I have seen people improving since GPDL 2014 Season 1 days, and I hope to achieve the same for this season.
I don't say, do I? But yes, here comes the concern of ex-. For this season, like GPD Open, players who have achieved 2 seasons ago but are struggling to return to the league you were once in, drop me a PM to appeal to join this tournament. I'll assess based on a few criterias, such as #dedication, number of times achieved, and attitude.
For people who primarily ladder only on KR, players are allowed because the dynamics aren't the same as compared to the previous season anymore.
In regards to smurfing, I wouldn't really be checking hard on to see if anyone is smurfing. I'd just go by suspicion then check on you if I think you're a smurf. Do consider the following if you're thinking of smurfing in this low-prize-money tournament:
1. You may have won the whole tournament full of . You have gained your momentary recognition as winner of GPDL. But, when you have been discovered that you're a smurf, is it going to be that great after all? You can probably do that, but I would prefer the glory of winning the tournament going to someone who really deserves it.
2. If you want to feel good about beating up some , why not just hit the ladder with a fresh account (borrow from someone, hop on to another server) and get to ?
3. You're gonna have to devote yourself every single week till the end of the tournament. Because you're gonna win it all eventually right? Do not waste your time...
To register, simply post your IGN. Battle.net profile page of your most laddered account (AM or KR or SEA, all is fine) and your Skype account (compulsory!) in the comments.

Please register only if you think you will be free at least 5 days (or night) a week for the duration of the tournament. I've had enough of people pushing their games to the weekends, because it is very inconvenient for everyone else. I will be more merciless with walkovers this season.
Also, don't register if you're just hoping to get an easy group and forfeit if you get a hard one.
As of the registration end, your account must be in , or you'll be automatically disqualified. Following which, after the registration ends, you are free to train hard and try to promote to . Like mentioned before, the aim of this tournament is to improve the overall skill level of players currently in . If you work hard once the registration ends and get promoted to , shouldn't you then be deserving of winning the tournament because of the blood, sweat, and tears you've put into it?
The schedule is projected as follows:
Ro32: 9 March 0000H AEDT - 15 March 2159H AEDT
- Break for Group Selections and preparation for Ro16 matches -
Ro16: 23 March 0000H AEDT - 29 March 2159H AEDT Playoffs: 30 March 0000H AEDT - 5 April 2159H AEDT
Games will be played on any server both players agree on, be it SEA, NA, or KR. Default server will be on SEA. Please don't be a douchebag by disagreeing to playing on another server when you actually can. If the disagreement persists, the set must be played out or a walkover will be given to the player not wanting to play on SEA.
Additionally, anyone who gets promoted to during the duration of the tournament will receive a $10 incentive as well!
Just addressing this, I understand it as being a great incentive, but wont there be a large influx of promotions since Blizzard confirmed they will rework the league distribution to increase the size of the masters server? A lot of ex masters will be promoted and I understand they're not valid for the prize but I think there will be a lot of diamonds promoted to masters league in the coming weeks.
Not trying to be a dick, just making sure that if going ahead with this incentive then you realised that mass promotion could happen Perhaps enter everyone who promoted to Masters in a raffle or something and draw to see who receives the $10?

I'll see how it goes, maybe just some of them will be promoted haha. If it's indeed the case of EVERY diamond being promoted up to Masters then I'll simply not give it out, because they did not get there by improving, but because of the league distribution change.

Plat/Diamond? I never got higher than Plat but I was playing mainly Diamonds by the end. But I also haven't practiced Terran in ages so we'll say Platinum for sure :P
Skype: ssj5gogetenks but you already have me babe
Just be ready for the torrent of complaints from people in his group(s) that they have to vs someone who's never dipped below the initial SEA GM level from early WoL.
yea please make it so that only the first x amount of people to get masters get the money cause blizzard is known to **** up and will probably make masters 7% again accidentally and I don't want to see you have to sell of your house to pay your debt to these people.
We've reached 32 participants signed up, but I'll still leave sign up open and if there are sufficient people who signed up, I will make another round before Ro32 similar to last season, where everyone go into 8 groups and play round robin from there.
Also, to finally address the promotion incentive thing, I understand that Blizzard will make their league distribution change soon. Like I said, I will see how it goes, and if Blizzard screws this up I guess I'll have to remove the incentive thingy. If it's just 2-3 people who promote (like what I actually expected of previous seasons), then I'm fine with going ahead with the incentive.

The only off-racing Master is me. You can barely call me Master atm anyway seeing as how I'm not actually in Master and haven't been since the season before #dreampool. I'm pretty sure I am eligible to play my main race in here if I really wanted to.
If you want I can send everyone my Terran replays so not only can you study all my strats (which is literally one build in each match-up) you can also see how bad I am. Until then, stop whining and cowboy up. You're super lucky to have a man like Elusory being a boss and taking the initiative (as well as putting up some of his own money) to even organize a tournament like this in the first place. Stop being ungrateful little turds.

Elusory is making a lot of effort and setting aside his time to organise this tournament (not to mention money for the prize pool). Even though feedback and opinions are appreciated, he gets to make the final decision. If he decides that a certain player can play, please respect the admin's decision.
Soul and/or any others, I dont see why you keep harping on it even though Elusory has cleared it. He has done his work to investigate and am sure, is trying his best to get the most participation while being as fair as possible. I believe Elusory in his efforts to trying to ensure that all goes well and everyone can have their competitive fun.
Being admin is not easy and has its own frustrations. So unless someone is clearly smurfing or cheating of which, then which you would pm Elusory to alert him for him to investigate via pm, then that's a different story.
Thank you.

"and we'll invest more on Bots, as our first Trial bot, the 'NemBotElie' was a huge success, organising tournaments and being part of the Council of mGG. But there are a few bugs in which the bot cannot go past the skill level of a Platinum Protoss." - PaRAnorMaL
Give 0 fcks and just play the game. Done. Who cares if the masters players are off-racing, that's the point they're off-racing since they know (elusory knows) that they are GPD level. If you think that it is still unfair to vs masters players, knowing you are going to play vs them should in fact push you to even play more and practice to prepare yourself against them. How hard could that be..
Yeah I'm fine with a masters off-racing if Elusory is fine with it. It'd be fun anyway, and it makes anyone in the GPD want to push that much harder to get better at the game.
I've been thrashed enough by high level players that I know I should aim for a learning experience rather than be frustrated that I had to verse one of them. If you win, bloody great you're well on the way to getting good. If not, then you learn something from playing against them. Hell, you can even ask them for advice post-game since they knowledge on how the match-up works.

On the subject of walkovers, maybe you could set a certain date sometime during the first group stage that each player has to be active in the group/played some games, otherwise they are replaced by those on the standby list? Would hate to see Eddie and others not get a chance to play
Sorry for those who signed up after the 32 participants limit this season, I'll be starting the season with Ro32 as there aren't enough sign ups. Next season though!
For those who are participating, you will be invited to your respective Skype groups soon.
If he's been master before then how come he is allowed to play in GPDL? Or do you have to be just diamond in this/last season to play in this seasons GPDL?

I'm pretty sure I've covered this part in the OP. As long as not Masters in current or last season he's good to go.
So happy to finally win one of these things after trying for so long! Thanks a lot Elusory for putting on such an interesting tournament for lower league players, and everyone who competes for providing great games, good sportsmanship and something to practice for!
