For full details on both the pro bracket and open bracket positions please click here
Venue Parking:
Parking is available at UNSW via Gate 2, High Street, and Gate 14, Barker Street. Street parking is also available on surrounding streets. See parking map here.
Food & Drinks:
As we are situated near the busy streets of inner Sydney you can be sure that all major fast food outlets will be found after a bit of looking, we know there is a McDonalds located a 5 minutes walk away. If you are looking for something a bit more fancy however there are plently of pubs and resturants near the venue, we recommend the Doncaster Hotel (pub) on the same street as the Addison Hotel.
I am willing to help set up on the Friday, I do work that day but should be able to get there around 6:30pm (mentioned this to Nick as I left Melbourne). Im not sure what the plan is for time etc but provided im not stuck in a conference or something ill see you there ^_^

So excited! I will see if I am able to fly down early and volunteer with setting up the sc2 open bracket area (if it gets the green light). Just gotta see how things tie up with uni. Woooooooooooooooooo
We will have at least one Online Round for this season which will be the final opportunity for players to earn points to make the invite seeds. I wouldn't bank on an open bracket your best bet is to play your hardest during Online Round 5 and potentially 6 and see if you can earn enough points. If there comes an open bracket consider it a bonus.
Baldie do you know how your going with volunteers?
I have a few things to work out (friday work, saturday cricket), however if things are desperate I could try to work things around.

I have a lot of leads but not a lot of confirmations. Which is understandable given the distance before the event but equally we need to know how likely any lead is of being reliably available as we have to do some logistical changes should we have an open bracket!
I'll put you down as a lead and we can discuss over time.
Oh i hope there is an open bracket for this !! this is two weeks after my birthday !! i would love to compete in SC2 1v1 !! =D Please have an open bracket !
OP has been updated with the top 16 invited players for pro bracket. Please respond within this thread ASAP if your name is shown above either accepting or declining the invite.
Should somebody decline, the next in line will be invited privately until one accepts.

This is on what was going to be my buck's night - which I almost decided just to have a quiet one with just a couple mates - so I am pretty sure I will be attending

Hey I couldn't buy an open bracket ticket because I wasn't sure if I was 100% yet, so I wanted to know how close I am to that top 8 season 3 group of players?
I took a look at the google doc and it shows me being higher than myuu in points from season 3. Does this mean it's just not updated or can I not play at all?
To all those wondering about the open bracket players, I will release that information next week.
The google doc has now been updated with points and now has two tabs, one for yearly points and one for season 3 points, but is yet to be updated with map win/loss changes.
I will put a deadline of 11:59PM AEST Friday 4th October for pro players to accept their invite. After this time should they wish to compete they may only enter the open bracket and the next in line for a pro bracket seed will be invited.

Message from FrayFenner "I won't be coming to this ACL. I purchased an open bracket ticket but since I won't be coming down feel free to give it away to someone else!"
His internet is crapping itself and asked me to post on his behalf.

Does anybody have Afhrait's contact information? Or if Afhrait sees this can he please confirm if he will be attending ACL Sydney by 11:59pm AEST Thursday October 10th. There has been a position made available in the top 16.

OP has been updated with the pro groups. Due to a variety of reasons a live announcement show was not feasible. Open Bracket players will be announced in no particular seeding order at close of signups.

Baldie, I've paid for both PiG and Megafonzie's pro bracket fees via my paypal. Just letting you know here in case its overlooked on the day and I'm not there.
yo, just wondering when are the times we must get there for groups? and top3 advance or top 2 advance?
Pro's must be at the venue and checked in by 11:30am on Saturday 19th October. I would prefer you arrive earlier.
The format will be the same as ACL Melbourne with the top 3 from each pro group advancing to a round of 12 single elimination championship bracket. The open bracket will also be the same with four groups with the top 2 advancing. With a limited open bracket and some structural changes we will be able to run a best of 3 lower bracket.

We have decided to keep open bracket tickets open leading into Sydney. You can still purchase tickets from our store and any remaining positions will be first in first served on the day of the event.

I can confirm this has been received thank you.
Can everybody who has qualified for pro play or purchased an open bracket ticket please go to this link to confirm your name has been recorded and to check the status of your payment balance.
Please ask me any questions between now and the event you may have via response to the thread and I will do my best to answer them as quickly as possible.
It's kinda crazy that after so much demand for open bracket they haven't even sold out yet. I'm gonna guess that's because most people just assumed no open bracket and weren't really aware that there was in fact an open bracket because it wasn't that well publicized.

Can you confirm the check in time for Sunday as well? Also, what time are players expected to play til for both days?

I sincerely hope this structure has been figured out. Hearing that games changed to a bo1 midway through the bracket at acl melb was just o.O

The simple answer is Sunday's time depends on the progression of pool brackets but most likely the same as ACL Melbourne, around 9am.
The longer answer is if we progress well we have every chance to finish pool play on Saturday and then not be required until 11am on Sunday. Ultimately it depends on progression and will be communicated on Saturday. Players will be expected to play until we reach an appropriate place in the schedule of the tournament vs a specific time.
I appreciate changing a format is not ideal but it was at a point where if we didn't take drastic actions we risked not finishing the event or running extremely late on Sunday. With a more controlled open bracket and alterations to how open bracket play will be conducted this should not be an issue.
Is it possible to keep us updated on open bracket spots, regularly like just a post when there is 10, 5, etc because i'd rather not pay online but I also don't want to show up the day and get told all tickets where sold out online.
Unfortunately I couldn't get Saturday night off work. Please withdraw my name from the group stages as I won't be able to make it. I am extremely sorry for such short notice and the extra work this creates for you. I hope you guys will have a successful event and I will be there on Sunday as a Spectator to cheer on my friends and Immunity in LoL.
With the unfortunate removal of Light from the top 16 we have had to make some adjustments to the pro brackets. The OP has been updated with the revised groups or alternatively you can check them here. This impacts Pool A, B and C. D remains the same.
8 seeds were given to yearly point earners and 8 were given to season 3 point earners. If a yearly points earner declines an invite, the next yearly point earner will be invited. The same for season 3 points.
As a result of Light being a yearly points invite, the now vacant position is to go to the next available yearly points earner: Ninja.
For those wondering if the next available points earner had a season 3 seed then they would jump up to 8th seed for yearly and a season 3 position would now be vacant for the next available season 3 points earner.
My Starcraft friends. If any of you are available today to help with setup it would be greatly appreciated. We currently only have runamok here being a champion. Lol and cod guys have come out in force and I'd hate for this to reflect poorly on the community.
Even after work etc. Let me know if you are coming and I'll give you my details. We have until 9pm tonight to have everything ready.
