Quote: Big day! Couple of notes... we will be sending out confirmation emails to all ticket holders in the next few weeks to confirm they're able to come to the event.
For those ticket holders who won't be able to come we will be re-issuing these tickets a week out from the event.
Just wanted to touch on scalping.
We will be checking tickets at the door to verify who you are.
Scalped tickets won't be allowed in.

Is this guy legit he has less posts than me.
yes JB is one of the key reasons the ACL stream kicks so much ass, you can trust him
Well than that's very smart. I reckon there will be at least 50 more tickets up for grabs 1 week out for the event. As for registering names i don't know about that maybe 1 name the ticket purchaser is ok but not both names.

The first post was a mistaken quote, i tried to edit the post but it made a 2nd post. the 3rd post is in response to the answer to my first post. The post is about all the illegitimate tickets that people would of picked up due to the free tickets available. e.g. many people would of registered and taken far more tickets than they actually needed. the 50 spare tickets is referring to my estimated guess of how many tickets people have take and will not use.. those 50 tickets will be up for grabs for people to pick up a week out before the event, this is referring to the post made by the streamteam guy.
People are understandably going to be frustrated/concerned/disappointed and generally a lot will be in the wrong frame of mind to make constructive comments. It is important people aren't suppressed from expressing their thoughts as it all is valuable feedback however equally everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
I personally did not get tickets but that doesn't give me the right to take my anger out on someone else be it their fault or not. In the mean time it's best to brainstorm ideas of how to make it work as best as possible. Whether there is somewhere after the event where Tastosis can make an appearance even for 5 minutes so people at least get that experience if they miss out on the live event within the venue. Or whether a barcraft is the only feasible option. Or something else I haven't thought about in the 10 seconds I did then.
This guy.. this is what I'm getting at..
Pretty sure by now - everyone realises that there was some 'mis-information' bouncing around.. (I love it when people use my name here ..|.. ) But complaining about it isn't going to get ANYTHING done. If you missed out, man up - offer to help out at the event (VaNzR will now get 400 applications for volunteers - 300 will turn up and walk off and not actually help out, I bet). OR get active and organise something else.. be proactive and talk with ACL Staff about what can be done - say, a fan meet for Tastosis at a bar Saturday night and a barcraft over the weekend for those that missed out..
or offer to pay for entry and see if ATP can organise a larger room (I understand this might not be possible, but if a larger conference room at ATP isn't booked, is it possible to upgrade? and could those costs be passed onto the venue attendees? All pro-active solutions that I've messaged Vanz about. If something like that doesn't happen, then I'm glad I took the time to talk to Vanz about helping out last week and hope that I can contribute in order to attend and enjoy this event.
In short, don't sook about it - I missed out, I've booked interstate travel, I'm being proactive about making it work for me... and if not, oh-*******-well.. I'll have a nice weekend in Sydney with some mates, and hopefully catch up with you guys at a bar after the event.

First of all, I don't think blame about the misinformation was being laid on you. It was more a sense that "hey, a bunch of us clearly thought this way when it wasn't true". It definitely wasn't a personal shot at you, at least from the perspective of an impartial observer.
Secondly though, you are right on so many levels. Things have not turned to shit because the venue is over capacity and some people can't go. There are chances to get inside still, and there are possibilities for other things like you mentioned. Baldie and yourself are the only ones who have basically said "you know what, I'm going to Sydney for a StarCraft 2 event, and if I don't get in the doors, that doesn't matter, because I will still make it a killer time". This is really really good stuff from the two of you, I applaud you and you are setting wonderful examples.
Thing is, some people are just vocal about hardships moreso than others. In some cases, maybe people are being repetitive. In others, maybe people just want to express themselves. And I think that some people are being too hard on these people when they do so, not 9 hours after their issue. I hope after they get some rest, get time to put it all in perspective, people will realise that it's not the end of their world.

Hey guys at ACL I know you have probably already exhausted communication with the venue and stuff but atm everyone seems to be upset because of misinformation or that they isn't get tickets however not much constructive things have been said (Barcraft an option). Why don't you have no chairs at the venue or reduce the amount of chairs in exchange for standing space, I'm sure people wouldn't mind standing up for games and they can always go into the city to sit down and have lunch etc. In regards to the minor rule why not just not serve alcohol at the venue, like is it necessary to drink at the venue when you can just go outside to a pub down the road, this way minors wouldn't miss out on this great event.
Personally i can't make it to Sydney but i hope to all that go have a great time! I hope this ideas can be taken into consideration.....
A few questions.
Could the venue be enlarged second, third rooms (outside area with a projector and screen) at the current venue for a cost via the more tickets if so numbers and costs to make it viable.
Second if option one is impossible/economically nonviable. "Official" barcraft or other second venue with video link stream possible web cams back to original location. To try to keep the starcraft mayhem focused rather than at home on stream.
Final thoughts awesome work guys a packed ACL!!!!
If anything like this happens in the future, it might be nice if the ticket registration was more a reservation system I know there was under 250 people when I registered. Not that I had any chance to be around a computer at 9am so I probably still would have missed out.
Tickets being around before the announcements of casters would probably help vs backlash as seen in this thread. To be honest I probably wouldnt have gotten one or made a trip to Sydney for it at that point. There where many who would have and there would be no way for people who didnt to throw the blame at anyone ACL related...
PS if there is a second venu organized I would still be looking at a weekend to Sydney to party it up so long as it is organized in a way we could chill with some players etc.
