So while we wait until late August for SEACL #3 to start, I thought it might be fun to have a short tournament to warm up. If we get enough interest my plan is:
8 teams (Clans may enter more the one team depending on interest) ** Can be expanded if interest level high
Two groups of 4
Top of each group play off in final
Format All-Kill (Best of 9)
Player Limit - 2 Platinum Max
Map Pool - Im easy here, ladder maps, WCS Maps, Some combination...
The whole thing would only take 4 weeks (3 group games, 1 final)....
As for start time I was thinking we do it like the SEACL, Thursday 9pm AEST (Flexible again here, so if you really keen and have a different default suggestion let me know).
Thinking about starting on the week Mon 16th - Sun 22nd of July...
So other clans are you interested?
How many teams could you enter (If we have huge interest we may only allow 1 per clan).
Clans Unconfirmed
FaDe (? Teams)
Team Night (? Teams)
IXL (? Teams)
Rules
Your squad can have any number of players, they must all be in either Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum however.
You are allowed 4 roster changes during the tournament. If you swap two players, that is ONE roster change. If you just drop or add a player, thats also ONE roster change.
For each round you must nominate your starting player by 24 hour before the start time.
Losing team picks the next player and map.
Only two platinum players may be used per match. (This resets each match and DOES NOT have to be the same platinum players each match).
If you enter two teams, obviously each team must list a squad. Each team has the 4 roster changes. Players are Allowed to swap between the teams, as long as each team has a roster change to use (Even if they have played previously for the other team.). Also if a side who enters more then one team struggles to field a lineup and has used all their changes, I may allow more changes.
Any mid tournament promotions will be ignored. All players will use their league rank as of Team Submission. I will be checking for anyone delibrately lowering their rank however.
Map Pool
At this stage my map pool I am considering is:
GSL Daybreak, GSL Metropolis, GSL Antiga Shipyard, GSL Entombed Valley, MLG Shakuras Plateau, WCS Ohana, WCS Cloud Kingdom
So to get this all rolling more, those clans which have expressed interest, I need your clan captain or whoever is in charge of running clan events, to get in contact me and confirm entry and the number of teams they could enter (1 is fine, if you have a huge BSGP roster and think you can always get more then 10 people showing up easy, then you should consider 2 teams)...
As i said I am only looking at 8 teams at this stage, but if enough clans can enter more then one team, maybe we could bump the number. More then 8 does mean extending the tournament though.
Also if there are any more casters keen let me know. There will be a lot of matches each week
Maybe since you have 8 clans expressing interest, limit it to one team per clan for the time being unless you get some more interest and need to make up to a nicely manageable number
EDIT: Ah I should have properly read your previous post You sir, are a pro.

So as suipr mentions we have 8 clans now with expressed interest, so any others now will be on a "reserved list"... and depending on team numbers (once i get max number of teams per clan), I'll see what we can do.
8 teams = 2 groups of 4, plus a final (4 weeks all up)
10 teams = 2 groups of 5, plus a final (6 weeks all up)
12 teams = 2 groups of 6, plus a final (also 6 weeks)
and 16 teams = 4 groups of 4, semi final and final (5 weeks)
All of those sound reasonable to me, so if you havent expressed interest, let me know.
Also I do need official confirmation of interest from clans about team count
Remember you only need 5 players each match, and you have all of your BSGP players to pick from.
Also any comments on the map pool and proposed match time?
We could move it an hour earlier? Considering its an all kill, you dont need all your players on at the start or at the end, so if moving it so its 8-10pm AEST (2 hrs on average), instaed of 9-11..
As for Friday, I think we'd find Friday is a harder day to get people at our level to commit too. But again im open to opinions.
QED is the first team to put their official confirmation in, fielding one team.
You have until Thursday to confirm participation and give me your squad.

I will get up a bigger/more proper first post soon with all the finalized details.

Maybe we could add condemned and korhal to that too? Possibly 9 games being played but only 7 maps listed. ESV Korhal will have the depots, I dont know that there is depoted up condemned yet. Could always make one :P
I think a simple rule of you cant open with a platinum, would suffice. Otherwise if its too complicated
a) its hard to follow
b) it might catch a few teams out if some of their BSG players arent there at the start time.
The other thing is there is no prize here, its friendly competition.. and if they just use one player to all kill from game 1, it means their other players wont be as ready for the SEACL
Yeah this thursday for confirmation of participation
Since I want to have round 1 the Thursday after.
Skype I can do, but for myself personally skype is an awful means of communication since I work a lot and I cant use skype at work.. PM me here or posting in a thread is much better if you want a quick response from me.

Oh I missed this one,
Thats a good point, I was worried about adding too many maps too... But yeah maybe one or two more might be good.
I'll check out the ESV version.
Slightly off topic, One day id love to try out some of TPW and ESV maps they put on the SEA server, to see if any of them may be maps we could use in SEA BSGPD level tournaments to freshen up the map pool.
