omg same day? epic fail. A ton of great players already signed up for the SSL
27th is the first day of Finals for EPIC!
The EPIC committee had recently got to know that SSL is being held on 27th as well!
However this will not clash with SSL too much because the main competition of EPIC starts on 14th and 21st which are the preliminary rounds!
The top 8 players that made it on to the finals on the 27th of Nov may then miss out SSL but apart from that, participants can potentially join for the 2 different competitions!
With so many competitions coming back to back, this holiday seasons is definitely EPIC for gaming!
EPIC is a competition organized by gamers for gamers and there is really no intent to compete for participants!
what nirvana said is true, but i think the finals are at *scape? so actually it'll be good publicity for the kids to know that there's SC2 action as well
___________________________________
Life is short, why waste it on sleep.
In anycase! EPIC places huge emphasis on the players & the games and thus we are spreading the games to have Starcraft 2 out on all the days along with our other competition games DOTA, Blackshot & Superstreet fighter 4 so that every single team/player or game will get their fair share of publicity as much as possible!
Though it is unlikely anything can change at this point, EPIC will not stop here!
As the name goes, EPIC e-Sports Convention 2010 will hopefully be the start of a amazing competition series and this will only be possible with the support of the community!
EPIC SC2 registration fees is price at $20/= for non-PAssion card members and $15 dollars for members!
As for the competition format, the preliminaries will set as group stages playing BO3. In the finals, the format will be changed to double elimination!
The top 8 players that made it on to the finals on the 27th of Nov may then miss out SSL but apart from that, participants can potentially join for the 2 different competitions!
I am trying to get in touch with the organizers to see how we can help each other out on this, such that my SSL does not clash with their EPIC. I'm sure the players will want to take part in both. We'll keep everyone informed on what we work out ^^ Till then, keep practicing for the tournaments and good luck, have fun!!

as a third party, my suggestion would be to just finish the games on 14th and 21st. or have the finals be for the final 2 not final 8
there are only 32 players, so the games will only take 5 hours total to finish lol dun need to be on 3 days
Hello Everyone!
After discussion with the organizers of SSL, we have come to an agreement that the EPIC SC2 competition will not be held on the 27th of November at all & thus will not clash with SSL!!!

hmm i've signed up thinking that the finals was on 27th nov... im not free on 28th.... can i get a refund?
Hello Nard!
The EPIC competition dates have always been on the:
Preliminaries: 14th & 21st
Finals: On the 27th & 28th!
The changes that has been made is just that we are removing SC2 out of 27th so that we do not clash with SSL!! But in anycase, the Grand finals of EPIC will still be on the 28th!
As for the refund, I'll get back to you shortly on the matter =)
I was wondering how the format for this EPIC SC2 will goes?
I heard only 32 players will be selected. Am i right? If yes, what happens to the other players who had paid and how will the priorities of choosing will be?
On top of that, there was no format on how the competition will begin with, etc Best of 3/5, maps. Only the time and place is being stated as far as i am concern.
I do see alot of sponsors in this event but unfortunately, a SC2 player need to fork out $20 for himself to join such an individual competition. In my past gaming experiences, $20 is way too many expensive espcially for students who want to take part in it. (Just my point of view espcially we are attracting the young teenagers)

DotA- 32 Teams, Group Stages/Double Elimination Format
Blackshot - 32 Teams, Group Stages/Double Elimination Format
StarCraft II - 32 Players, Group Stages/Double Elimination Format
Super Street Fighter IV - 64 Players, Double Elimination Format

About the prize money, thanks for your feedback!!
It would be channel back to the committee to make EPIC better the next time round =)
We can only refund due to medical reasons such as if you can't attend the event due to hospitalization of due to any contagious illness that you have been infected with.
It is sad to know that you are unable to make it for the 28th but the 4 days were already stated as the dates where EPIC competition would be held on.
Still, I hold that you are able to attend the EPIC competition as we have an exciting line up of activities for each and everyone of you!
nonetheless... it was clearly stated beforehand that the final of sc2 will be held on 27th and not the 28th. i think i'll take this matter offline from here. not the place to discuss this

Hey,
Thanks for the info.
But if more then 32 players sign up for SC2, how are the 32players gonna be selected?
Seems like some of us will go through the trouble and might end up not getting selected.
