I'm probably gonna be moving to the UK in a matter of months for a year but probably won't be taking my PC along with me. As laptops are getting faster and cheaper these days, might as well pick one up for the year!
Anyone using laptops that they'd recommend for gaming?
Currently I've also got an ASUS in the house and it's run perfectly.
Firstly what kind of games? and secondly whats the budget?
I'm currently using an ASUS N73SV and it runs most games pretty well. latest game Ive run on it is Mass Effect 3. However the Graphics card in this laptop isnt the best.
Edit: Oh and portability? my laptop is pretty big.....

Reason: another question

This is probably the best place to start. It really depends on what games you plan to run on the laptop and what kind of budget you are on. For instance, StarCraft II on low graphics won't require as significant an investment as say... skyrim on full.

good questions.
Games: sc2, ME3, LoL...diablo 3 (suppositively can pick it up for less than $50 in the UK, sweet!). I'm a lil bit of a graphics junkie so always like to stick games (besides sc2) onto high settings.
Budget: Say $1500 or less
Portability: not worried as I'll generally have it plugged into the wall and it's mainly just to tie me over for a year. I'll be bringing my keyboard and mouse so having a proper keyboard (my missus has the same laptop you mentioned but I really struggle to use the keyboard coz its flat) doesn't really matter. Prob just pick up a cheap monitor there as well.
Thanks for the suggestions so far! Research efficiency increased dramatically :P
http://www.fraglabs.com.au - Buy FragLabs and support eSportttttttttttttts
More importantly when you buy something to support esports remind them that is one of the deciding factors in buying your device from them. For every 1 person that says something they assume there are 19 that didnt (the 5% rule).
Although I cant help you much with laptop specs and costs be sure with out a doubt to get a cooling pad if you plan to game on it for any reasonable length of time. I believe TTesports have one that is reasonable priced and good quality there was a post hidden somewhere about it.
Something else you should look at is if you getting something like a HDMI cable out so you can power up your TV when home alone to some big screen action.
