[B]With Plantronics ACL Brisbane around the corner, it's time to amp up the preparation. Alike previous ACLPro events, players are requested to register their interest in competing on the ACLPro website.
Pro Bracket Registration has now completed and the pools have been released!
Anybody wishing to register for the open bracket can still do so from the link below.
It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.

Well I signed up, it didn't ask me for payment details though. Assuming that comes later? Also I'm obviously not gonna be in the seeded top 16 thing, so is this still the place I was supposed to sign up?

You did the right thing in registering The place to purchase your discounted open bracket tickets is here.
We will provide a step by step in the near future of how to lock yourself in for a discounted rate.
OK I stopped using a derp system so it should all be fixed now for placings.
For those wondering Iaguz and MegaFonzi had the same total points however Iaguz had a better overall map score so will take the higher seed. We are currently working on how to manipulate positions within Stats Central so this issue can't happen again as at the moment it decides randomly who takes the higher seed when even points
Do we have to use the same race we qualified with in the Final Event? Can I race switch during the event?
I ain't ACL but imo - play what ever race you want at the finals.. but I think race switching during the event is a bit sketchy.. Good luck Ray - excited to see your Terran in action
Whatever race you start the tournament with you must play with throughout and finish with. It doesn't matter if it is the same or different to what you qualified as.
any of the seeds still unsure about signing up - do it yo.. closes tonight! Excited for ACL Yo!~.. Check ACL Stats central and tell your mates in top seeds to sign up!! Ganna be a great event!
so i cant register online anymore and would have to register at the door for 30 bucks? im still terribly undecided T_T
just have to stop eating for a week then i can afford it. k im in.
but i can still sign in for open bracket on the day the tournament happens and get a spot 100%?

You can still register for open bracket (through just putting in your details). Anybody going for a pro bracket position has been closed that is all.
I will put up a post soon with details about how to pay and when cheaper online rates will close to answer any confusion. In the meantime feel free to continue to register for open bracket.
Further to this. If someone decides to come on a whim on the day, you will still be able to enter open bracket at the venue as the doors open. We would PREFER to see registrations online to gauge timing and numbers. Should be a good event. Few more great announcements coming for this as well
Pro Bracket group seeds have been finalised based on a points system. There will be a live announcement of groups which was originally intended for Friday but needed to be pushed back due to a variety of reasons.
Working with the ACL team to find the most practical time to announce via a live stream. I can confirm the top 16 as per the OP table are the final top 16 pro players.

Ohhh man.. Please don't be Group 1:1st, 5th, 9th and 13th seeds.. etc.. Cause that makes stacked group 1 (Pet, iaguz, KingKong, fenner) and arguably weaker group 2 (Light, MegaFonzie, Nomad, Jambi) and also gives Open Bracket players massive advantage in picking groups.
Which ACL Last year used that successful group selection process? - surely that can be recreated (please please please)... ;;;

Poor KingKong having to spill so much fray blood :P

If you can't do pick a group.. the standard 1st, 5th, 9th and 13th is really bad - This picture shows why..
It is three different seeding options with the seeds shown and a tally of the total of each groups seed value
Can see in method 1 - 1st seed, arguably the one that should be rewarded for their effort gets the hardest (lowest value) group.
Method 2 mixes things up a bit but is still not even - However, it does reward the highest seed and then incrementally from there.
Method 3 is a fair balanced group - rewards everyone equally for their placing (best method in my 2 cents)...
That being said, Please do selections - makes for more interesting group story lines etc... go GSL Group style, 1st to 4th and seeded in the 4 groups and everyone gets to pick one person (in order) to join their group (as they are selected)...
I know your adding your 2c so ill add my 2c about your 2c so that we can have 11c.
I'm not sure if you're speculating for yourself or for others but due to the fact we don't even know their method of how they are doing groups let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Anyway i just wanted to say that i feel you can't alter the method of group selection based on the perceived strength of the groups, as it sort of defeats the purpose of the seeding system. If you feel the seeding system is flawed in that it doesn't reflect the true strength of the players( This is a fair opinion). Then maybe a good route could be to just randomize the groups. But yea, i feel your problem is with the seeds and changing the method of group selection to reflect that feels weird to me.

Not perceived, that is why I tallied the seeds in the img to show the imbalance of the particular systems. I'm just putting the suggestion out there - until the seeds are published nothing is set in stone. In the past ACL has been very willing to adjust to such rationale.
Also I just really want to see a selection process like GSL where everyone picks someone to join their group.. Would produce the best storylines for the competition too!

Didn't they do this last year? and people were so slack in picking their groups that it clogged up the whole process and made it a huge pain in the ass?
What does that even mean??? People are giving you feedback...
I didn't mean it personally to Chad just that he seemed to spend a bit of time having a magnitude of different situations looking at possibilities when we hadn't even given any direction on how the groups work haha. Some people enjoy that stuff I guess though so no dramas! "well if A situation happens I think this and if B, C, D or E happens etc."
I'm sure there will be plenty of feedback when the groups are released because then people actually can make sense of it all.
If its not 1st, 8th, 9th, 16th in group A etc, there really needs to be a damn good reason for it, anything else comes down to bias which will screw over some players
having group selections on bias is just too silly to even think about it.
or just complete random but seed is better.
not like the 1-16 list is based on skill alone anyway so whats the point
Don't take this the wrong way, but I have no idea who you are ._.
Benji and (teddyoojo) are both correct. The way the brackets are going to be done need to be transparent. Well, more transparent than "The top 16 will be in groups".
Guys, we formulate the groups based on season points first, seeds second. This is due to the fact points are your total collection of results across 2 events, where seed is just the average between the 2. We've done it this way since 2009. We're not just making things up as we go.
There is some discussion between admins at the moment confirming this and potential review, though everything will be fully transparent, publicly displayed.

The thing is, depending on my group, due to how open bracket is seeded, am I allowed to opt out of groups and play open bracket? If not, why don't I just unregister and rock up on the day? =/
Frustration has more points.. so I guess there is just an error in the 'Pro-Zone' points listing?
I had a conversation with his manager and he will not be attending ACL Brisbane anymore due to personal reasons. Thus we had to replace him with the next available seed being Alpha.
OP updated with pools. Post on how to register and pay will be put up as soon as possible to assist those having issues!
