Smiley: Smile New fan/caster looking to help the community!

TL;DR: I am young and enthusiastic to help the community, tell me how to do so! I can also cast matches!

The name's CleighMoores a hailing from Melbourne, Victoria and before anything else I am a fresh new fan to Starcraft 2 and competitive gaming, only having discovered the scene a few months ago, but more recently I have taken a deeper interest in hopefully contributing to the community! Firstly...

Despite hearing about an 'oversaturation' of casters I've stubbornly gone ahead and started to record some of my own casts (I'll stick some links down below) because my biggest strength is speaking and presenting. More about this down below (I'd rather not focus on plugging my amateur channel).

More importantly I am enthused about finding ways I can directly help the community be it helping with tournament setup, flogging upcoming events, helping out with media, or even perhaps lending a hand with modding live events. I am still very fresh to the scene but I have always had a passion for being organised (I love seeing a plan come together) and holding the attention of an audience either by being interesting or just really weird, so if there's anything I could help with there I would more than love to hear about it!

An idea I had recently and one that could work - depending on necessity and demand of it - is a group or community for the entertainment/media side of competitive gaming in SEA. Initially I thought "What if there was a place for any caster/presenter, event organiser, stream host (etc.) to gather, collaborate and support one another?" with the potential to help flourish current, new, or emerging talent, perhaps eventually grow this community to a global scale (a clearly ambitious move). Please correct me if there already is a place like this, I'm still feeling out the scene to see what's out there, but if not I'd like to hear what sort of demand there is.

Other than that, I am merely a young man who's taken a year out after completing VCE to find his way and I think this is a great place to start, so if there's anything that needs attending to that an amateur such as myself can help out with, point me in that direction! One thing I'm trying to do is become more familiar with forums (still a very new platform for me) so I can contribute with discussions and hype a little more!

Now, as to my ability to cast, I have a mid-level knowledge of the game and most of it is very shallow, so I cannot offer in-depth analysis to the tune of Tastosis or Day9, but I believe I can however offer easy-listening, fast paced yet comprehensible play-by-play, entry level analysis, and offer a portal for newer fans of the game to become acquainted with competitive play. Here's an example of my work so far (a few more games in the queue and I plan to record regularly).

SKMC v. EmpireViolet
IEM Season 6 Quarter Finals (I think? Sort of grabbed some random replays without checking the background info xD)
3 Games

Game 1:
You Tube
You Tube
Game 2:
You Tube
You Tube
Game 3:
You Tube
You Tube

I'd love to hear some feedback if possible, and with my knowledge I think I'll hone my casts to focus on that entry-level analysis and play-by-play talk (at least until I know enough about maps, players, the meta-game etc. to make informed analysis). Unfortunately my internet stops me from streaming on a reliably regular schedule (0.75Mbps Up on a good day), but pre-recorded stuff at least allows me to record in 720p.

Howdy man!!!

To answer your questions, in general for shoutcasters and media in general there isnt much in the way of bringing together information and ideas. Of course there are massive amounts of sites that do have information, but not in the way I assume that you are talking about.

If you are after some good replays sc2rep.ru is an awesome site to nab them off from, and if you are having issues with the uploads then see if you can jump on as a co caster on another stream to get some air time

Here we have a lot of Clan wars and matches that go uncasted so start there to get your groove on and just play and youll get that knowledge in no time

Regardless add me on skype my dets are below and if you ever need anything give me a yell!

Thanks for the swift reply! I'll make sure to add you and I'll probably shoot you a message later on

I've made a prototype Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/366460360115492/) which outlines the idea I was going for in terms of a Content Creator/Broadcaster hub for people to help support one another and the like. Basically just a little place for people to say "Hey I got this project, could use some help/casters/tech advice", that sorta thing!

Thanks for the tips though, co-casting sounds like something I'd like to do if people are willing, comforts me to know I can still get myself out there with this restrictive internet speed >.<

Where would I best be going/contacting for the Clan matches? If there's opportunity there I'd be more than happy to help people out there!

more than enough to stream at quite nice quality. the resolution you can stream at is restricted by your cpu not your internet speed. so most people with a decent computer can stream at 720p however the upspeed restricts your bit rate that you can stream at however 0.75 will be more than enough of a bitrate to stream high quality. obviously not super good but still quite good

Quick Comments
 CleighMoores:
Ah, I see! Thanks, livestreams are easier to do as a quick alternative to recordings so I'll keep that in mind. :)

My suggestion would be to steer clear of any kind of analysis for now, even "entry level", until your game knowledge increases (which is a long journey).

Know your audience, and cast to them. Seek out tournaments to cast for experience and keep casting whatever reps you can find of any level. Read Infeza's obs guide! Unless you can find yourself a dedicated obs, you're going to need to do that

EDIT: After watching some vids, the other thing is, watch a ton of casts! Try to get a hold of GOM ticket and watch Code S VODs and I recommend you try to find VODs of Bitterdam and Apollo. Day[9] is Day[9], I think he's a fantastic caster to listen to but I don't feel like his style is something to try to emulate as a newer player

Quick Comments
 CleighMoores:
Thanks, will do! I can definitely explain what's happening on screen, just gotta work on deeper knowledge :D
