[iMSystem]

IPL are currently looking for casters for the IPL5 Qualifiers. It will be online so anyone, anywhere can apply as long as you can adhere to their timezone.

They have stated that they are looking mainly to cast around 5pm PST. Which is 10am AEST, so not a bad time at all.

For those interested, here are the details:

• Solo cast any one of the replays from this replay pack!
• Post the video publicly to your Youtube channel
• Send an email to CatsPajamasSC2 [at] gmail [dot] com with the link to your video and a short bio that includes any events you’ve cast in the past
• If you win the contest, you will be helping out to cast the IPL 5 qualifiers. This is not a paid position, but could lead to a paid position based on performance and the opportunity to cast IPL 5 live.
• Please submit by May 2nd at 17:00 PDT! (May 3rd 10am AEST)
• Must be available to cast during North American times (please specify in your applications if you're available to cast NA or EU prime times (5 p.m. -ish))

To be honest I wasn't going to apply. Felt I was/am still in a development phase with MUs.. had a lovely chat with Flamga over dinner tonight (reow) where we went through it pretty solidly so I already feel I have a lot more available to me now.

I guess it can't hurt to put it in! I'll have a look tomorrow.

Have a look for Day[9]'s old "how to stream" tutorial when he used FMLE back before xsplit became prevalent. It did have a program in there that recorded and it is all free, sorry I dont have a link for it though

Not sure about free programs, you can get Fraps though to record, and use Virtual Dub to put them together and compress / export

If you enjoy casting theres no reason why you shouldn't try out - even if you probably can't manage the times
Shit even I would if my roommate had even a semblance of a life or wasn't a total wanker so I could actually make the application video.
So no excuses for the other casters here I hear anybody saying anything like "i won't get it so no point" or "its too much hassle" I come punch you in the nads cause god I wish I could try for this opportunity so much

Nah I have all of it working how I want, probably not optimally but it comes out nice so I would rather stick with what works myself than fiddle with something else but good initiative on posting that for everyone else

I am probably going to give this a go! How about anyone who tries out posts the link to their video in this thread? That way we can have a look at everyone's attempts (which would be especially interesting if they picked the same replay of the 3 options) and give feedback! Because personally I just hope to gain experience in casting! Just a thought

Man this is such an amazing opportunity. I was planning on giving casting a shot in a few months, but I feel my game knowledge isn't upto scratch at the moment beyond zerg and even in zerg it's pretty shoddy at best.

I dont mean to sound like a sore loser - I knew I wasnt gonna get picked.

But it seems to me like they just picked a bunch of higher profile casters anyway - most of them are well-known judging by the comments on the TL thread. Seems like more of a hype than anything else now.. lol

Its always worth a try no matter what man and anyway from their perspective, there is less risk with a more popular/well known caster as spectators will vouch for them and they have already demonstrated a high level of casting ability through the bigger events they have casted.

Regardless grats for entering guys, and maybe we all go for it again next year?

I think it's pretty expected to be honest. I have full faith in some of the casters around in SEA, but on a global level, it gets hard guys. It's great to see all of you give it a shot, and I"m sure we'll be able to represent ourselves next year!

oh yeah dont get me wrong, i enjoyed doing it and will definitely enter again. they just make it out to be something that anyone could get a chance at, then only pick ppl with big viewer bases behind them. Not gonna stop me though haha

I've only heard of JoRoSaR, and only heard OF him not heard him cast. But yeah, I agree I don't know any of these casters and I think they're "low profile" enough for me personally to be happy for them. Grats to the winners and best of luck SEA boys for the next lot of applications.

I've heard JoRoSaR cast because I'm a crazy person and often watch whatever random streams are on at 6:30am when I'm having breakfast...

He seems okay, but just that. Nothing particularly special about his casting imo. I think he has pretty good delivery, and okay game knowledge, but nothing that is really that much better than say, Flamga or System.

I do think they picked those guys based on popularity and experience. They have casted decent sized lans before and stuff. That makes them the safer option, I guess... an organisation like IPL will not take -too- huge a risk on a caster unless they seem -really- exceptional, I guess.
