Guild wars 1 was the only other "mmo" I played a lot apart from ragnarok and I got all the expansions
Though sad to say I never finished the stories for any of them :P

I have been looking forward to Guild Wars 2 since I read some of the cool ideas
Anybody else going to be playing upon release?

GW2 are making some amazing claims, if they can deliver everything they're promising it should be an amazing game. I signed up for the beta and will buy it when it comes out for sure.

The first book that they made to go with GW2 is pretty good too if anyone's interested.

I've played WoW, SWTOR, DCUO and a bunch of others, GW1 was the first MMO i played and it'll always be one of my favourites.

Hell yes i'll be buying GW2, it'll probably be one of the only games i'll ever buy the collectors edition of (assuming there'll be one, everyone has a collectors ed these days), it just looks too good to be true, and i've been waiting for it since before Eye of the north came out.

I'll also be chasing beta giveaways and stuff ferociously when they happen ^_^

Just got an email saying the guildwars 2 beta client is ready for download for this weekend. Who else has pre-ordered, or gotten a beta????

We're writing to let you know that your spot in the upcoming Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event has been reserved—and the beta client is now ready for preloading! We recommend that you begin your download as soon as possible so you’re ready to start playing when the festivities begin on Friday, April 27, at noon PDT (GMT -7). The Beta Weekend Event will end Sunday, April 29, at 11:59 p.m. PDT (GMT -7).

Click here to go to the "Getting Started" thread in our beta forums, where you can download the beta client and learn important information about the upcoming weekend event. You can log in to the forums using the same User ID and password that you created when you registered your Guild Wars 2 account. Please note that you will only be able to browse the forums for now. Pre-purchasing the game, unless you've been invited before now im pretty sure thats the only way.

However - Team Legacy, GW2's Team Liquid offshoot, has yet to decide on a server. They could be pretty cool to hang out with.

apparently in the last beta weekend most aus/sea players played on "sea of sorrows". so if that's available again, maybe that one.

Played GW1, didn't have a lot of friends to play with T_T, plus I didn't have factions which always pissed me off because of that one skill you needed in every good build.

If you guys will be my friends I won't mind prepurchasing the game.

TA will likely have a guild, and failing that I have a couple options from GW1 days where I kept in touch with some people.

I've read from a local gaming magazine that this game is Free-To-Play. I haven't confirmed this yet, though. Is this true or not?

Yeah I hear that too, but we have to preorder it so I guess not. Hmmm D3 or GW2?

edit: not paying for a subscription does not make it F2P........in that logical SC2 is F2P

It has an initial price like with most games however there isn't a subscription fee (as far as i'm aware).

Ive read in a few places that a lot of oceanic players are rolling on Sea of Sorrows, probably will be the unofficial Oceanic server.

is any1 else getting ridiculously crappy downloading rates for the GW client? I got my download to 15/20MB complete and then it was interrupted, and now it says its going to take like 4 hours to do it again

Wow, just off that vid I'm excited about it haha. Looks really good and interesting, the combat system seems pretty cool. Like maynarde has been saying, every mmo is usually just the same thing, comparable to WoW and usually doesn't take off because of that. This looks like it really could rival WoW and might be the actual first WoW killer.

Might have to get this when I get a job.

No idea on class yet, hopefully some of them won't be as useless PvE as they were in GW1 *cough*mesmer*cough*.

yeah watching that video again has just reminded me why Im so excited for this game, I'm thinking a human necromancer or even one of those little creatures as a engineer. 'But i jsut want to see how all the features they've talked about actually work in PvP.

So I've downloaded the client and I'm ready to play.

Apparently we (as in Aus) should be able to play at 5am on this saturday???

Sea of Sorrows it is. Do we add friends based on account name or char name? Anyone know?
