Smiley: Smile Crafting/inventory system change - Discussion!

Hey all,
I am new to the community, but I have been in the D3 beta for a long time.
Throughtout the beta I have consistently been dissapointed that Blizzard removed the Cauldron and the Nephalem Cube, then adjusted the crafting system to suit.

I believed that blizzard had done the right thing in the first place by bring them in! Now our inventories will still fill up with junk that is going to be sold/salvaged, when they could of kept the two items, that allowed us to keep progressing in the game. Spending countless minutes selling and salvaging items is going to give the D3 campaing a very stop-start feel to it. The action will start get fleeting and going back and forth through a portal will come quite a lot more often.

What i want from the community is individual opinions.
First I would like to know your opinion on why blizzard made the change.
Second I want to know whether you think the change is good or bad.

They said they wanted to give players a reason to return to town. TBH, it was needed! I'll miss the cube, but the new system is still good.

im mixed on it.
it does make it much easier not having to go to town every 15 minutes to empty your bags, but besides that you would rarely go to town besides skilling up professions.

But the point of adding in the cube was to stop you from having to go back to town so often. Back in d2 everybody complained about how often you would have to travel back to town.

Maybe blizzard should add something into the town, that actually makes it worthwhile to go back to, instead of forcing players to go back if they want to free up their inventory. Diablo isn't a game about going back and forth through portals, its about the action and story.

I like the way it is now, before you could just smash all your unwanted items and that is it.

I guess the reason to return to the town before was the change skills, but now you can do that anywhere, so perhaps hence the swap with the salvaging thing now?

Either way, I am all for it!

With your artisan and the portal scroll being permanent - ducking back to town will be a lot easier and worthwhile. Upgrading the artisan will be a necessity.

Another thing I noted was that to identify items, you don't need scrolls anymore. Was this just for beta? Or is that how it is now? If that is the case I don't see the point in have hidden elements to an epic items

Scrolls of Identification are no longer in the game. They have been removed. You can identify items with hidden stats by right clicking on them in the inventory.

Its a pretty stupid idea, they might as well just get rid of identification completely if that is the new system.

I did find it weird clicking on an item to identify it. Maybe if it was a side profession or something to learn to identify shit it would make more sense and until u could identity that lvl item Cain would need to do it for you?

I believed the reason for the new system was:
1) so that player are forced to decide on more valuable/wanted item
2) pick up each item and irritate the player ( well not all of the same name weapon have the same attribute )
3) Limited slot force player to share loot more often
Overall to me the new system is good, as it promote decision making and not just spam collection of item.
P.s: Item of higher rarity may not provide better stats than its counterpart of lower rarity
