Congratz to QEDDenile for winning, Rogue(misspelt just now, sorry) for 2nd place and of course, ChadMan for 3rd.
Thank you DayNine(bm dwarf kid) and Satu(Pizza eating troll) for casting without actually aiming to entertain people (you guys can really be funny with what you say at times!)
I love you guys! Cast again next time please
I'll see if we can get a full writeup on this later. Thanks again for making it a success.
Im not actually upset yang was trolling, but quite seriously if you are just going to bag out the players and talk about your own stuff during their games, not introduce them etc. Then why offer to cast at all? Seems pretty bad manner honestly.
You can't expect BSG players to play at the same level as masters and GM players, I know I am shit at droning and clearly not the best player, hence, why I am in silver...
I enjoyed this a lot and thank stinger for putting this on, but seriously...

I totally agree.. Satu was okay.. the other guy was totally BM and I will not allow him to cast any match I am involved in. -_-
It is a pity this event was marred by such bad and BM casting.. Well done to team IVN.. thanks to stinger for putting this on!.. eSports is winning with fun events for the fans to play in, the casting was horrid tho.
I'm very sorry you were all offended about what may have been said in the stream, but please note that these are BSG games and they tend to be very
boring if they go on for long. I was once in BSG and I had the same things said to me. They are with good intetentions that we can improve in certain ways
and they were not meant to offend anyone. There is no need to get upset over this or to hate on the casters. People have been misunderstood when they were
actually trying to make jokes. Take for example when Maynarde said something about a ToT guy rage-lagging. It wasn't meant to offend anyone.
I hope this thread doesn't turn into a rage-fest. Look at the bright side! Everyone had a good time and despite it being my first tourney, I'd like to think
it was a success. Thank you for those who turned up and participated, we will probably be having more events in the future. For now AsylumofSouls is running
weekly BSGs so please check those out.
Again, I'm very sorry.
EDIT: Though if anyone would like to give some constructive please go ahead. But I would appreciate it if you don't be rude to the
casters as they took time off to help me with this event and I am grateful for it.
For example something that would be good to say:
Hey guys. I am sorry to say I found your casting a bit rude. In the future maybe you could be a bit nicer as they are just BSG players
and they aren't at high level play. They also want to be encouraged and not discouraged.
Example of rage comments:
You guys suck at casting. Rude and BM idiots.

Yes, not everyone has been constructive, but one person whose game was casted did specify why they thought the commentary was not so great. It's never nice to hear yourself being bagged out without even being able to say anything back.
if DayNine is really as BM as he was when casting as it feels, i do believe he was fairly BM when i co-casted a BSG Open way-back-when where it was a simular situation (back when Satu was holding them), it's disappointing to hear that it hasn't changed.
But on that, Satu always pokes a bit of fun at BSG players when casting, but he's done so much for BSG community on sc2sea, where i think he has the RIGHT to poke a bit of fun.
But on that, it's disappointing that the casting sounds quite as unprofessional as it's coming across as.
Congratz to gratz to Denile, Rogue and Chad respectively.
Could someone also post vod links? I wouldn't mind seeing some games and also how BM the casting was.
@DeNile
My ass you did... you were like "zomg stingers micro fails..." "12 mins and only now drones???" "gold guy owned this diamond"
I'll be sending you more replays bro, just you wait
@Dot
]No no I don't mean Rogue was being rude. She had points to back her up so it's ok. I'm just saying I don't want this to go into that. Yes I agree it's an awful feeling but if we are to say bad things back, does that not make us any worse? (not Rogue dw, sorry for being irrelevent, but just want to explain what I meant in my post about what COULD happen)

@Stinger
That's the thing about things like these. Someone is rude first, and it is normally the 'victim' who cannot strike back or complain unless there are many ppl supporting them.
Meh it's BSG for christ's sake. Play nice. Everyone.
A little good fun is fine here and there, but you have to remember some people will then become hesitant to participate if they feel that they are just going to be made fun of for not being as good as others.
It took me a year to build the confidence to be a part of any tournaments because I was so scared people would just say mean shit without actually being constructive at all.
It's awesome that you hosted a tournament and that people gave up their time to cast and it may seem all in good fun to poke at peoples play, you do have to remember that they are BSG players who are still learning and being overtly rude or bad manner will only serve to put them off participating in the future.
Yeah.. The casters need to:
a) Introduce the players.
b) talk about the current game at hand, not other games.
c) compliment and find positives in games. No one wants to watch you rip on silver and bronze players.
d) if your going to talk about negatives in the game, talk about the constructively - so when the players go back and watch the VOD they can learn from their mistakes.
e) During the down time in the match, instead of trashing the players - talk about the map, interesting facts that people can exploit on the map, or strategies that are good on that map.. Also speculate what strategies they might be taking and tech routes in the game.
Good luck in the future, the tournament was great... as I said, it was a pity that the event was spoiled by the caster.
EDIT: I think the thing to take away from this is; next time.. get talented casters to cast your events.. no BM fools. No offence to Satu - he was fine.
Congrats to DeNile, Rogue and Chad for the performances, and everyone else who participated and gave it their all

I think the most important thing for casters to realise is who their audience is. I think it's far more likely that the audience for a BSG tournament will consist of mostly BSG players (not exclusively, but they are the majority) and that for these smaller events, the players themselves are probably going to make up the bulk of the audience.
Cast to your audience. Don't cast to MLG's.
And Stinger, congratulations on the event. It seemed to run smoothly and I'm sorry there's this blemish. My advice to you would be, you don't always need to fix problems. It might feel wonderful to be the guy who solves the problem, but more often than not when it comes to real people, you can't just whack on a band aid and kiss it better. PiG had some wonderful advice, I hope you take it to heart. But as I said, kudos on a well-run tournament and I hope to make it to the next one

That's true as well. But hey it's the internet, it's how things work. No point getting upset over it. Rather you should be mature about it, and just go with it. People may not back you up, people may. But arguing about it will get you no where. The most you can do is get an apology from them, but what does that do? Nothing.
It' just my personal opinion that I feel it isn't worth fighting about. But I understand your need to display your satisfaction and I respect that as long as you keep it polite.

This is not the Internet, this is sc2sea. And not respecting people in the community is not allowed, whatever their sc2 level.
Making fun of people you know and are friends with is perfectly ok. This happens with myself a tonne as I am a pretty fun-loving guy.
Making fun of people you don't know in a tournament setting is ridiculous. You should treat people respectfully and courteously without exception. The fact that he even came in this thread with that attitude is disgusting.
Clearly rogue is not happy with the casting, 'taking jokes the wrong way' is your own damn fault and you should apologise for being a dick. Otherwise you can get the hell out of the community as far as I am concerned
Ok people, this is unfair. I posted this thread about congratulating the winners and not getting pissed at the casters. You guys are putting me on the spot because I'm faced with the same situation as I was with iVnFictioN. I am sick and tired of having to be the middle person for other people's problems.
This is the chat log with Rogue:
You: ?
femFxRogue: i never did any fighting
so i dont know
what you want me to do
You: well
femFxRogue: all i did, was say how i honestly feel about this situation
You: posting on forums saying you 2 cleared it would be nice
you are not satisfied with what he said
if you'd like him to apologize just tell him
because if no one says it's settled already on forums
its just going to be a page of bullshit against him in the morning
for making jokes that were misunderstood
sound fair?
I am sorry if I was misunderstood Rogue, but I am trying to solve a problem. I just wanted you two to solve it, because as you can see no one is happy with how it's going.
Now I bet I'm going to get flamed. Why? Because I didn't use the standard response, "Omg you are such a douchebag celldweller". I'm sorry but I disagree. This is between them not us, why must we always get in the middle of things to take sides? They are adults, let them solve their own problems.
This thread has run it's course but not served it's purpose. (my fault sadly) Please close this admins.
Surprisingly enough, people voice their opinions on forums. Amazing! If this was not made public then people might go on to think that celldweller was a good caster because he had done it before. Now people know that he is trash and merely rips on players trying their best.
People who try to be funny by belittling other people shouldn't be encouraged.
Ok, Daynine apologized already. There is nothing left he can do, and nothing we can argue about. I am voicing my opinion that I feel people shouldn't get in the middle of things. And according to you, it's ok to voice opinions. Just saying...

Am I blind or did he not apologise? His behaviour offended more than just Rogue, so it's a public apology or GTFO.

No, I'm sorry. You can hate me for it but he has to apologize TO ROGUE. Not to you, or anyone else on these forums. You can say that he is spoiling e-sports and whatever but at the end of the day, he was rude to Rogue.
And he asked me to post it for him. (that he said it to her)
Not good enough. Simple as that. I guarantee you I'm not the only one who will think it. As far as I'm concerned the community is better off without him.

*sigh* What is there left for me to say? No matter what I say or what opinion I have, I'm always wrong. I apologize then.
You did nothing.. your event went well. This is not directed at you - your event went well.. we are all grateful that you ran it and hope you do it again.. Just next time, without Daynine casting.
EDIT: he apologised while I was writing this.. good for him. I hope he takes this and turns it constructively. plan your casts to have something to say during the down time.. and put on a cheery persona.. the people like happiness!
Sidenote: I hope someone google's Daynine cast and gets this thread.. it would be a total lol.. >.<
You have nothing to apologise for. He does. The very fact that he is letting you wear the brunt of the repercussions of his actions shows what sort of person he really is.

How could you assume that it's a private matter? There are clearly there are people who not only are concerned he was rude to Rogue but also that he would disrespect anybody in a tournament run in our community where he was casting.
Do you think that people might not look at this and assume this is our we treat our BSG players? They may not but what if they did, our community is already small enough we don't need idiots making us look anything other than what we are, a loving community.
alright, I understand what i did was really bad on all accounts, I'm not going to make an excuse for it, the fact of the matter is, yes, i shouldn't be someone casting tournaments, I don't have a positive outlook on things like many of you do, and yes I do use other people's misfortunes to humour myself. I also know it isn't a good thing to do, and I shouldn't fill in or create oppurtunities where I can do this to people.
sorry to everyone that has been offended by my casting abilities (or lack thereof)
I agree, but look at it this way. What if I never posted this thread and nothing about this came out. He apologized to her and he doesn't do it in the future. Would everyone not rather have that?
That's how I see it, maybe I suck at proving my point, and that's why I keep coming off as an asshole. But you gotta understand, I organized a tournament and the biggest highlight of it is how the casting was not very nice to the players.
I feel this situation is now coming to a close and so I hesitate to fuel to a dead fire, but I think it needs to be said that your opinion of it being "other people problems" is very erroneous (and hopinh was just a slip of the tongue). As the event organiser, everything that occurs in the event is your responsibility, so when somebody is upset with what happens, it's on you. Now Im not saying you didnt do enough to settle the situation, because you are clearly doing your best and people are still behind you 100% for giving this a go, but slips like this just need to be pointed out; that the person at the top is always personally responsible for the actions of every person below them makes, because you put them there. Sad to see things go so poorly, and hopefully this doesn't stop you from doing more in the future, just please get some background information on your underlings in future.
I sincerely hope you organise another event in due time, so that we can forget any negativity that happened and instead enjoy this, our community at sc2sea.
Ok... stinger. i'm used to being a bit of a middleman when ppl start fighting for no reason on forums. This doesn't appear to be one of those times. Why are you even joining in this discussion? Apparently the casting was offensive and therefore people are expressing that.
You seemed to be taking every post against daynine/celldweller personally, don't. Just chill and let it take it's course, if the discussion is getting nowhere THEN step in and say hey guys, no point being offensive etc etc.
Seems to be all good now anyways, sounds like a fun tourney
Yeah I was being a hypocrite by getting involved anyway. Just don't feel like he deserves this shit when I asked him to cast for me.
You clearly care which is good, but its also frustrating that you tried to micromanage the whole conversation and basically just obstructed what was actually being discussed. Don't worry people will remember the great tournament even if there is some negativity in the thread there were many positive comments! And the negativity is there for a just reason. If people don't get mad over something that's wrong it won't get fixed. Now it's getting fixed as celldweller probably won't be casting BSGs anymore.
All good, go grab a drink of water and watch some GSL vods
With all this i almost didn't see that my good buddy, co-admin for SEACL: QEDdenile won the tournament.
Congratulations man! Taking out TARogue and The Chad is not an easy task
That was a very, very obvious joke Stinger. Chill ! You're still very young and lack some understanding of adult behavior, so don't react like a cat whose tail is on fire. Learn to listen first, think, and then talk when you're sure to understand clearly the situation. That's the road to wiseness.

What the... WHAT I SAID WAS A JOKE TOO.... aww shessh people misunderstand me left right and center. I'm sorry for not being clear enough.

Didn't really want to get involved in this conversation but your post above is exactly what people are talking about when they say you need to relax.
There are millions of people on the internet, not every one of them thinks the same.
I have found that when I refrain from typing the first reaction that comes into my head, and think carefully whether I even need to respond let alone what I want to say, people are be more likely to understand. There will always be people who don't get you. That's just the way it is.
Sometimes it's better to just let a comment go by without responding than inadvertently fueling the fire.

So is this gonna be a regular thing? I enjoyed it :P
GJ Denile, Rogue and Chad!
There's a regular BSG every Saturday night, 8pm Sydney.
Check it in the "Upcoming events" on the right
Or the forum thread here
If you don't like z33k and can wait a week, from Feb 11th, it'll be using the sc2sea bracket system instead.
