We are organizing a BARCRAFT in Singapore for MLG Providence.
Date: Saturday 19th November 2011 Time: 9.00PM SGT till 1.00AM Venue: Molly Mallone's Irish Pub, 56 Circular Road, Singapore 04911
Some important informations about this event:
The bar is opened for people under 18 years old.
Alcohol is sold for 18+ only. Don't cheat if you're under 18, i don't want to end up the barcraft at the police station.
I booked the place from 9PM till 1AM. The games of MLG Providence will only start at 10PM, but if you come earlier it'll be more quiet to chat a bit about starcraft and other stuff.
We'll have to order at least 4 food platers (for 20 people, 10bux per person), so please take at least 10bux with you for the barcraft. and don't eat before the barcraft or the food platers will all finish in the void (as know as "my stomach").
We'll all have to behave correctly, it is our first Barcraft and i don't want it spoiled if some people can't handle alcohol and start calling Raoul here and there (Rrrraaaaaaoooooouull)
Why must you come to the barcraft?
Because you love starcraft
Because you love beer
Because you'll get the chance to meet and chat famous singaporean starcraft 2 players.
Because i'll give away free autographs
Because we'll discuss about the incoming events in Singapore for SC2 scene.
The room can host between 20 and 30 people, if you are interested to join this event, please let us know by posting inside this thread. It will give us a good idea of how many people may join. The more we order beer/drinks/food, happier will be the management of the bar, and the more likely we are to make again a Barcraft for next MLG.
A small review concerning the bar:
"You can't possibly get more authentic than with Molly Malone's. Designed and built in Ireland, the pub was then shipped and reassembled here. It also holds the honours of being the first Irish pub to open here. Packed practically every single day of the week, it's not hard to see why this pub has become such a popular fixture in the business district - the atmosphere is always lively and exceedingly friendly, and its signature fish and chips comes in generous portions, with melt-in-your-mouth batter and crispy thick cut fries."
Get cables to connect the laptop with the TV - EvilSWAT
Get someone to take photos/make video to make a nice blog/report on sc2sea
Get a MLG account
So now you book your 19th november, you find any excuse for girlfriend/boyfriend/parent, and we meet at Molly Mallone's for the first Barcraft ever in Singapore.
If you have any enquiries, feel free to PM me, or post in this thread, or contact at 81232926.

I'll be there with my laptop and my HDMI cable, but the cable's only like 4 feet long, hope its long enough to reach the TV.
A big question I have is whether the internet connection there is good enough to stream 1080p?
The best is maybe to give it a try one day before the Barcraft. There is a wifi spot for the bar that we can use but i don't know how strong it is. So i propose we just give it a try and we will know.

As a backup I could use my 3G phone to tether to my laptop also but I ain't sure how smooth the stream will be and whether I can get a decent 3G signal in the first place. Definitely something we have to look into, maybe give them a call when they're open?
In any case, just scoring a decent place for us to get together is already an awesome step in the right direction. Thank you Frogmite for organizing this tournament, now its up to the rest of us to step up to the plate and make it rowdy! (Although the alcohol would help, me thinks)
Kindly add "AvengerSin" and "Incognito" and "BaerNation" from Team Clanless into the "Confirmed Going" list. You may also add them to the "Underaged Non-Alcohol Kids Club" list if there's one
I also see that we can only be there until 1AM, which kinda means just one or two matchups can be seen in the bar itself. Seeing how MLG normally extends into the morning (as in at least 6AM), I would like to know whether there's anybody who wants to stay back to watch a few more games. If so, I can try to source for one of those mini-projectors, and all we need is a power plug and an blank wall and we can continue watching it through the night. (Or somebody could just allow us into their living rooms and we can stream there LOL)

could someone kindly please post this up on the TL thread as a Singaporean meetup? There are some Singaporean TL Lurkers there that might turn up too, and put a link to this post!

anyhow, i've posted it up on the starcraft.sg facebook page at www.facebook.com/starcraft.sg
unfortunately that has gone somewhat neglected but i'll try to add some admins to that to revive it, spread the word of barcraft and our facebook page!

btw Frogmite/Alex why is your avatar holding a wussy beer like a Kronenbourg 1664 instead of something strong and manly like a Baron's, or a Sapporo or Budweiser (which sucks, but still is more manly than a Kronenbourg 1664) yo!

Aie aie aie Mezza, you don't know where you're going buddy
Wanted to go to bed when i saw your post, but when the pride of a Frenchman is in danger he has to fight for it.
1664
By Kronenbourg
For those who don't know, 1664 is a french beer, so yes we don't only drink wine.
What the hellion is that beer?
Kronenbourg Brewery (Brasseries Kronenbourg) is a brewery founded in 1664 by Geronimus Hatt in Strasbourg, France (at the time a Free Imperial City of the Holy Roman Empire) as the Hatt Brewery. The name comes from the area (Cronenbourg) where the brewery relocated in 1850. The company is owned by the Carlsberg Group. The main brand is Kronenbourg 1664, a 5.5% abv pale lager which is the best selling premium lager brand in France.
Kronenbourg 1664, the company's main brand, is a 5.5% pale lager first brewed in 1952. It is the leading brand of beer in France, where it has a 40% market share. It uses the Strisselspalt hop - a French aroma hop from Alsace, used mostly in pale lagers. The main Kronenbourg 1664 brewery (where Kronenbourg also produces almost 300 other beer brands) is in Obernai (France), but the brand is also brewed in the UK by Heineken at its Manchester brewery at 5.0% abv, as well as in Australia by Fosters Group.
Why 1664 is good for you?
1664 is France in a beer bottle, so if you feel you're male enough to handle it then a new world of frenchization is opening to you. For example, i paste a photo of me the last time i had a 1664 inside a bar in Singapore, now you know what i'm speaking about.
It may appear to be a light beer with its 5.5%, defined as a pale lager, but beware the percentage tagged on the bottle is not for the alcohol percentage, it defines the percentage of men that can actually drink it and still are able to stay straight on their three legs. I will conclude by saying that 1664 is maybe not a beer for men, but one for males.
Those who disagree can argue with me at the Barcraft through a Beer Drinking Contest
@nirvana no worries man, was just poking fun at Frogmite
@Frogmite, dude, true its a French beer, but the people I know that really like it among my friends are girls! But I don't doubt your manliness, you're the bomb
Well, speaking about awesome French things, when people ask me what's awesome about France, I'll quote this
Frogmites argument is valid because he has included pretty girls in his post. I think the Blanc version is nicer though. Kronenburg would be considered a "sweet" tasting beer i guess.
Dear all who are going, just a note, and voicing one of alex's concerns, especially for the under 18s.
As much as we'd like for as many people to be there as possible, please remember to help support the event by supporting the bar, ie. Buying drinks/food as it's a business after all, and if the event is great, we don't want to discourage the management from denying future events by making it not profitable for them

I've just gotten word that the Internet connection is smooth at the pub, with download speeds of 3Mbps which I think should be just fine for our use, so in terms of techical issues this party is good to go!! And yes, pls come down and buy food and drinks and have fun!
Hi, you have brought out long time lurkers to the yard lol.
19th is as many people have said, in the middle of uni exam crunch time but I'll be able to make it as my exams are a few days away. In addition, I'd like to lend a hand in photographing the event. I'm a casual photographer if that makes sense haha.
My bf is interested in coming too, so that makes 2 of us.

That will be good if you can take some snapshots of the event and post it on the site as well .
I would like to highlight the post of Mezza. It is very important that everyone at the Barcraft order food/drinks, the more we'll spend on that night, better are the chances to do another Barcraft.
The capacity of the bar is not crazy, so we won't be able to host everyone if we end up too many for the event, especially if the bar management states that we're not ordering drinks.
Another thing, the only beer allowed to be drank during barcraft is 1664
I put a photo of the room where we will do the Barcraft:
On the internet site of the pub they say that it's for:
Standing - 20 pax
Seated - 15 pax
There is also a door we can open to the street so it can widen it a bit.

i think we should try a bigger place, there will be more than 30 people for sure
It's quite difficult to find suitable places for a Barcraft actually. And if you want to rent bigger places, during weekends, you have to spend something like 2500sgd during the night.
I think it's better to make a first one, see how it goes, see how much we can spend, how many people will really come. If we are too many, some of us will have to stand outside, i may ask to put extra tables on the street side so everybody can watch the games.
What could be interesting to know, is how much we spent during the night, so we might be able to rent bigger places. My concern is that we have 50 people and only 10 order drinks, well not really worth trying bigger places

Monsieur Frog, I'll only be able to bring one laptop and one HDMI-cable. If there we are to use more than 1 TV screen, we might need to have more laptops, or source for a HDMI-splitter, which ain't the cheapest thing on the market. Would live your advice, please!

A minimum entry requirement of 1 purchased drink for each attendee is reasonable.

+2 guys ill know their nicks soon
Wonder how many people are going to show up. Hopefully you guys get an event as awesome as the Barcraft in Sydney, that was surprisingly huge and awesome.
Yeah the Sydney one was epic, easily 100+ people. The bar must have made a fortune.

everyone in singapore should turn up! barcrafts are awesome!! bring a few friends along and youll definitely have a good time! plus if there's a good turnout the first time the bar might just hold another.
Btw, I might be bringing my laptop there if there's like free internet there so I can play some SC2 games as well.
Actually, please do bring the laptop LOL! It kinda looks like I'm the only one bringing a laptop, and we'll definitely need a backup just in case mine goes bonkers! Does yours have HDMI-output?
Well it'll be great to have a backup laptop as a contingency and what EvilSWAT stated. And as for playing SC2 there during a barcraft, I've got another suggestion for you, how about talking to people at the barcraft and socializing so that you can swap realIDs. When you do get back home, you'll have MORE people to play starcraft with

Got output but no cable leh, but I'll need an outlet as with any other laptop for a charger.

I'm sure there's plenty of power outlets there, and I'll be bringing 2 HDMI cables just in case. I ain't sure how many TVs would be there, but hey, the more TVs we can hook up, the better! (Hopefully it doesn't lag due to multiple connections heh)
K EvilSwat. Just tell you, gonna run everything in Lowest Settings because of the Graphics Bottleneck. (1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 sucks compared to today's standard)

All I need you to bring is something that can play 1080P youtube videos smooth. If you're computer can stream that in HDMI, then its all good! (We'll be streaming the MLG live stream, not actually playing any StarCraft games there )

Obviously lookout for frogmite. The tall tall guy who dont look singaporean!
Me and 2 friends would like to go! Any slots left?
I'm sure the organisers will try to fit as many people as possible, but seeing that the room is designed for like 35 people, first come first served methinks!
I've been at the bar sunday night, just for info the room we'll be using is just for 25 people. They will open the doors on the outside so we can include more people, but certainly not 50.
More important, if you come, try to order as much as you can, if you don't plan to spend money there, then it could be kind that you let your seat to someone else.
It's the first we do this event, so we have to make the biggest score we can, so we could organize bigger Barcraft events in the future.
If we want bigger clubrooms, we'll have to order for 2000sgd roughly. But for that we need to be at least 100 people.
alex you might wanna put some restrictions now or close signups cause it looks like we are definitely going to exceed 25 people and i dont want people to end up being disappointed when they cant watch the games or something!
best case would be the ask the bar owner if theres any other rooms next to each other we can accommodate as well

Yeap right.
The signups for Barcraft is now closed.
If you didn't register in time, you can still wait for next barcraft. I believe that we might get good chances to do it again if we order a lot of drinks on that night. I'll give my best to help achieving this goal
Dun put me in as maybe. Because I will definitely be there to bring in a backup laptop just in case anything kapuut as requested. And I'll probably be early cause by the time I leave church at 7, I'll be there an hour before 9 to see what the place is like and of course have something to eat cause' that's my dinner!
Sent by my blackberry.
Fyi my rsvp on facebook as Paul Anthony Soh is 'confirmed going'.

Arh, I replied early that I'll be there with my bf and I'll help out with photographing the event but I'm not in the lists at all. Do we not turn up just in case there's too many people?
Hey frogmite, could you drop me a PM with your email address? My friend over at www.gx.com.sg would like to drop you a mail. He'll be coming down to support too..

1. We need to restrict the number of persons because the place we get is not very big.
2. Why don't i find a bigger place? You are welcome to find a bigger one. It's quite easy to whine when you don't do anythig. I will be happy with a bigger place, but as i wrote in the mail it cost 2500sgd to rent a big place.
3. YOU are non-sense. If you're not happy, organize a Barcraft yourself.
4. The first thread was a poll to see how many people were interested. You can still try your luck on the barcraft day, but we'll be packed.
Organizing an event like a Barcraft is not so easy, help is always welcome. It's not easy to find a big place, and not easy as well to explain to the bar management that you want to broadcast video game inside their bar for a night. Constructive comments are welcome, whining is not.

YIGIT, you really should stop this now. Organizers do their best to make good events and from the popularity of what Frogmite has organized, it is a success.
You're acting like a spoiled ingrat. Be more constructive and control yourself.
You could at the contrary help Frogmite for next one and see with him how you could, for example in finding not too expansive or free places where more than 40 people could participate, or find sponsors.
frogmite spent alot of time sourcing for a place while managing his clan, the BSGCL and having a full time expat job. he finally find a nice one and we are all looking forward to a good time, have some appreciation instead of pointing fingers and showing negativity. there will be more bar craft events in the future now that we know the response is good.
i.e so instead of "lol just get a bigger place, lol barcraft sg fail time to make a reddit post" try "maybe a good place would be blablabla i made some calls to enquire and...." cause one way actually helps the other just shows you're unhelpful + unappreciative.

I moved to Singapore three weks ago, I sometimes can not find my own flat .
I moved to Singapore three weks ago, I sometimes can not find my own flat .
I want more rage from Frogmite!
You must understand the logistics behind making a BarCraft possible. The bar must have a decent Internet connection. To be entirely honest, I did some scouting on my own a few weeks back, and found 2 bars which can fit more people, but they do not have broadband Internet (they don't need to, it's a bar, not an Internet cafe). Molly Malone's have reasonably good Internet speeds (3Mbps according to the barkeep) and can fit a decent amount of ppl.
And who would have thought that tiny Singapore could have this amount of interested ppl? Even on the polls you've linked, there were only 30-40 guys interested (except one who didn't want it) (YAAAAAAAAAANNNGGGGG). The sudden surge in applicants poses a problem, but it is a good problem to have, as we now know that we can expect a full house and not organize a BarCraft for nothing.
Logistics for anything is a terrible nightmare and Frogmite has done us a great service for us all. So let us appreciate him and not rage just because you had a bad ladder day. ._.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but providence goes live at 12:30am iirc on this day so 90% of it wont have live content
Yeah thanks for the info.
Actually it's not a big deal, the purpose of the barcraft is to gather starcraft player community in a place, not really to watch live events. Watching starcraft games on TV is more about setting the background for conversations .
I agree it's better to watch live MLG, but if we can't we'll just watch some mlg/gsl VOD. The more important being that we can chat, share and drink!
Well thanks to unstable for pointing that out. Because as a compromise I suppose we could try to tune in to a repeat broadcast of providence, if there is such a thing at all, or just watch VODs of previous epic games?
Since the barcraft is planned already, lets just take the opportunity to just meet up hang out and have a drink anyhow.
Am open to suggestions as to what else we should or can watch, and it'll be good if people suggest these matches and we can start hunting for them now.

is it still possible to sign up for the event? got me +2 friends that wanna come!
Nope sorry the list is completely full.
However, you can still come into the bar, but the access to the sc2 broadcasting room will be restricted to the ones who registered.
Yeah I can finally post. Had to create another account, I had issues for the first one. Anyway all good now...
I'm not on the registered list but I confirmed some time ago by SMS (Frogmite). So not sure if it's still ok...
I'll come regardless, in case people cancel at the last minute or leave early.
And I promise I'll drink a lot of beers!
Also does anyone know if Stephano going to MLG ?
Edit: actually it was not by SMS but by PM. Cheers

Yeah man, we don't pick, Unless your name is Yigit and i "accenditally" remove you from the list.
I just forgot your name in the list. I put you in no worries.
So sorry, you are welcome to come rAbBitko, we must have overlooked some when compiling the lists cause we are compiling from the TL thread as well and some names may have gotten "lost". Yea its only by first come first serve.
The 30 person room is for the sc2 games and if its full you could always hang out in the normal bar area, where there will be other sc2 players so its actually not an issue! Idea is just to come out, have a beer and talk about sc2 haha. Seeya there!
Today's the day guys! I'll seeya at BarCraft later. Yup, photographs, and video of this event will be recorded tonight! I'll be there early and will stay throughout.
BTW, this site is still giving me tonnes of problems since the server migration.
