As the boys reached the medical bay's corridor, they could hearing screaming and cries of help coming from the room. Suspecting that the clerics may be under attack they quickly rushed into the room, but when they entered the room they realised that it was not the clerics who were crying for help or screaming in pain... It was DeathsFang...

DeathsFang was curled up in a ball on his bed writhing in agony. The clerics ran about unsure as to what they should do to help him, they had never seen someone in so much pain before... The two boys were heart broken at seeing DeathsFang the way he was... Going through so much suffering... Just to save and help them...

Benji appeared behind the two boys, at the doorway, at put his hands on their shoulders, "It wasn't your fault... DeathsFang made made his own choice to help you two even though he knew that Torniquet would almost surely cut him down first..."

Tanahon, unable to look away from DeathsFang's agony, solemnly asked, "But... But... You said that he was completely fine. That he was alright and would heal... So why did his condition suddenly turn so bad?"

Benji sighed, "Honestly? I don't know... I don't think anyone in this castle knows... None of the clerics has ever seen anything like this... One minute he was recovering after the clerics' treatment, the next minute he was in complete agony... It could be anything. Bacteria, virus, poison, anything..."

Verdana suddenly remembered... Didn't Torniquet say that he had poison on his blade? Verdana realised that this must be because of Torniquet's poison immediately told Benji of about everything which Torniquet had said about the poison... Beating himself inside as he did so... How could he have been so foolish to have forgotten about the poison!

"Hmmm... This is indeed troublesome..." Benji pondered out loud.

"Well what can we do to help him!?!" Tanahon inquired, "I mean, there must be something we can do! We can't just leave him like this!"

"I'm sorry Tanahon... But I have no idea as to what we can do to help our friend... This poison is something Torniquet created out of the most venomous of creatures... And we have never been able to study it, therefore we don't even know what its composition is..." Benji paused, choking on the words he was going to say, "I'm afraid that we may have to kill DeathsFang..."

Everyone was stunned. How could Benji say that? DeathsFang had saved them and now they had to kill him? Ridiculous!

"How can you say such a thing Benji! DeathsFang is our friend! He is your fellow council member! How can you even suggest such a thing!?!" screamed Verdana.

Benji drooped his head sadly, "I do not say this without thought Verdana... DeathsFang is in a tremendous amount of pain and we have no way of helping him! If he is in so much pain now imagine how much pain he will be in a few days from now! It would be best if we killed him now and put him out of his misery..."

The two boys could say nothing... They knew that one day during the fight against NirvAnA sacrifices would be made but they could never have prepared themselves for this. Together Benji, Verdana and Tanahon stood in the medical bay, their heads low. Completely silent and solemn, unable to drown out the sound of DeathsFang's anguish...

Suddenly a line appeared in the air, causing the three to look up. The line opened up to form a purple circle and through it middle-aged man with a scared face and a young adult with elven ears, carrying a large bag filled to the brim with an assortment of tomes; potions and herbs, walked out.

The middle-aged man smiled, as though coming out of a purple portal was an everyday event, and said, "Ahh Metalopolis... How long as it been..." he turned to the two boys, whose mouths were agape, and continued, "Hey! If it isn't the two of you! It would appears you boys have grown. Just a little bit though." he brought the tips of his thumb and index finger a centimeter apart to emphasize his point "Anyway, have you guys seen Paw around? I've come to bring my beloved daughter back!"

" Who are you and what are you talking about? Paw's father is HDPhoenixx!" questioned Tanahon.

The man sighed and rummaged through his companion's baggage, procuring two small vials of blue liquid. He passed one to his elven companion and together they gulped down the vials' contents.

The two boys were curious at what the potions might do and wondered what might happen next. They did not have to wait long as barely a minute passed but the effects of the potions became clear. The two men before the boys began to change, the scars began to disappear while the elven ears of the scarred man's companion began to shrink down to that of a human's. The boys could suddenly feel power and knowledge coming from the two men in front of them.

When the transformation had completed the boys finally realized who the scarred man was...

The once scarred man turned to his once elven companion and said casually, "Ahh I always hate using the disguise reversing potion... Gives me pins and needles all over my body," he turned to the two boys, " Anyway... I bet you boys thought you wouldn't see the great HDPHOENIXX again!"

Writer's note: Sry have not written in a while, got a bit lazy at the beginning of August :P. May be a bit rusty so forgive me if the next few entries are not up to par.

Before anyone could say anything, HD questioned loudly," Now! Where is my daughter? I know she is here and i demand that she return with me back to our village!"

The two boys were still speechless from HD's sudden transformation and merely stared at him. Noticing their stares, HD addressed them," You two are alright stunned at this level of magical potions?" he disappointingly turned to Benji," Benji... You really should expose them to more forms of magic and potions. How else are they suppose to fight against aLt and NirvAnA when they are surprised at a simple transformation potion?"

Benji felt some anger rise from his heart at HD's comment but quickly suppressed them. After all, having one of the most powerful mage in the world as an enemy is never a good thing, even if you are the leader of the Mage Corps.

Benji smiled a visibly fake smile and replied," They have only been here for not that long HD, we have only been able to conduct some minor battle training and not much else. Anyway, can't you see that we have much more urgent matters to attend to?" Benji finished, gesturing to the screaming DeathsFang.

HD turned towards DeathsFang and nonchalantly spoke," So that's what I've been hearing the pass minute or so. Could you ask him to quieten down, he is starting to annoy me."

"How could you say that!" shouted Verdana," DeathsFang is in agony and may die soon!" Verdana turned away from HD," I thought you were a good person. I guess I misjudged you."

As the last word was uttered from Verdana's mouth, HD casted a spell of swiftness in a split second and dashed towards Verdana. Before he could even register HD coming towards him, Verdana found himself above the ground in HD's hands.

"How dare you say such a thing about me," HD whispered angrily," I have seen countless people in as much pain as DeathsFang is right now. You have no right to judge me when you don't even know me."

Tanahon began to run to his best friend's aid but was stopped by Benji," He needs to learn to not be so rash. This will serve as a good lesson." It took all his will-power but Tanahon managed to stop himself from aiding Verdana and nodded silently.

Verdana stared into HD's eyes, inside them he could almost see all the pain and suffering which HD had seen and experienced. He was wrong to have said such a thing about him, HD deserved an apology.

"I'm sorry," said Verdana, his eyes looking upon the ground," I should not have said such a thing, you are right. I don't know a thing about you and have no right to judge you."

HD glared at Verdana for a second longer before gently placing the boy back onto the ground," Apology accepted. You need to learn not to be so impulsive Verdana, you are lucky that you know this now. There are many others who would have killed you on the spot."

Benji approached HD slowly," Anyway, now that that is is all sorted out. Can you at least look at DeathsFang's condition? Please?"

HD's face was that of stone before he sighed," Alright fine, but just because you asked nicely. But I want to do this 'check-up' with only Apth and I in here. Everyone else is to wait outside."

Verdana was about to object to leaving his and Tanahon's savior but was stopped by Benji who merely replied," But of course," with that Benji gestured for everyone to leave the room and soon everyone was out and the doors to the medical bay was closed.

As the doors closed, the clerics slowly dispersed to the canteen to get some much needed break and refreshments after taking care of DeathsFang and handling his screaming. Soon, only Verdana, Tanahon and Benji were left outside the medical bay.

A minute passed and there was no sign of anything being done inside the medical bay. The trio sat on the floor next to one another, leaning against the wall. Soon one by one they drifted into sleep, none of them had gotten any sleep he night before after all he events which had occurred and so sleep was a very welcomed visitor.

The door creaked open as Apth pushed against it, his body fatigued from the travel and from carrying all of his master's items. Outside of the medical bay, he saw the trio fast asleep, oblivious to his presence. Looking at the two boys, Apth sighed," Enjoy sleep while you still can you two. For you guys have a tough road ahead."

From behind Apth, HD shouted," Hey Apth! Whats taking you so long? Hurry up and get them!"

Once more Apth sighed and approached the sleeping figures. Bending down to their level, he shook them slightly," Hey guys, the 'check-up' is done. You may come in now."

Tanahon rubbed his eyes and questioned," How long has it been?"

"It's been about an hour," replied Apth.

Benji raised a brow and thought out loud," Hmm that's quite a long time for a 'check-up' for HD. He's usually done with this kind of this in about 5 minutes. In any case lets hurry on to DeathsFang's side."

Together, all four of them walked back into the medical bay, hoping with all their heart that DeathsFang can be saved. However, Verdana and Tanahon would never have guessed that these events would lead to a quest where one of party members will die in front of their eyes...

Inside DeathsFang was no longer screaming, instead he merely grunted in discomfort every one in a while and shifted his position. Verdana began to run towards DeathdsFang but was stopped halfway by HD," I think its best for us to leave him alone. He will need the rest."

Slowly HD lead Verdana to a corner of the medical bay, gesturing Benji and Tanahon to follow. In the corner Tanahon questioned," What did you do to him to pacify him so much?"

"Oh I gave him a very rare and powerful sedative," Tanahon was about to thank HD for relieving most of DeathsFang's pain but HD continued," After all, I can't conduct a 'check-up' when my patient keeps on screaming. Irritates me too much."

Tanahon held back his thanks after what HD said, he only sedated DeathsFang because he could'nt stand the screaming. Not because he wanted to help him.

"Eh hem," Benji coughed," Lets get back to what we want to know most. What is DeathsFang's condition HD?"

HD looked towards Apth," Why don't I let my apprentice tell you. I'm tired from the tedious procedure."

As HD pulled over a stool to sit on, Apth addressed the trio," Before I tell you DeathsFang's condition, I must tell you that it is VERY bad. Are you sure you want to know?"

The trio nodded silently.

"Well then. Let us begin."
